Red recolors?!
The other Ao gets another color scheme! Red Blade Liger! Did you see this coming a mile away? Are you going to pick her up? Would you pick up a mirage version? A night fight version? An AB version? Something new?
What other zoids would you like to see in Metamor Verse? Liger Zero? Iron Kong? Death Saurer? More human adaptations?

Couple quick reviews...
Rei is ok. Looks great. Posing is not, but I don't see her being particularly athletic in the first place. She's extremely expensive for what is here.

Ao is weird as fuck. I suppose she isn't actually manufactured by koto since she feels EXTREMELY chinese. It isn't a terrible feeling but is definitely very noticeable. The blue parts are very chalky plastic so mark very easily and thre are lots of oddly shaped nubs that aren't Koto's mo. Also rather expensive, but at least she's actually fun to handle.

Lisa!
Doesn't bode well for the future kits for ValkyrieTune. I'm really upset by this one. She isn't the worst, but the build is quite jank. The mold quality and parts fit is not good at all. Lots aloft parts all over her fall off constantly. Her weapons are cool as hell, but actually poseing her with them sucks horribly with how prone to falling apart she is. This shit kills the hell out of me... I was really looking forward to Goodsmile putting something out at the quality of the Guilty Princess or birthday Miku, but am sorely let down...

Cheapest option is yahoo japan or mercari. The bump in shipping is still less than the import store's greed.
To give you an idea, Mao stateside is about 60 usd before shipping, assuming shipping and taxes are 15 bucks minimum, your better off buying one for 45 overseas and paying the $25 shipping+tarrif.

I think they would have done better if they hadn't taken ten fucking years to come out.
And THEN they massively overproduced, though that may have been to curb re-release issues since Konami may be in controll of reissues.
>>
>>11737305
Most of Kadopla's DX versions are swimsuits anyway, which is pissing some people off that they have little to no variation. Mai is different because she is the Bunny Girl of anime.
On a different note, semi-Mecha Musume topic, we're getting close to the release of the 30MF Shakunetsu no Gai, and would be grasping straws at some people using his armor with 30MS kits (and a few Figure-rise sharing the similar construction style) if it's cross-compatible with 30MF anyway. Remind me when it's out or any one of you anons would pull off the stunt I mentioned.
>>
>>
>>11738030
I feel like the most usefull pieces would be his thighs being a better transition between 30ms torsos and 30mf lower legs, but bandai being bandai they will somehow fuck that up.
The armor is going to be a massive mixed bag since the shin armor is attached with a slot instead of a 3mm peg and the shoulder armor is friction nubs.
Tldr not worth 40 bucks for a character I have no attachment to and can't be used for anything but true kitbashing.

Charlona is so fucking weird.
First, she's the first 30ms girl I've built that had a significant joint issue oob. Her thigh joints were uselessly loose, like so loose you could helicopter them if not for her hips being in the way.
That's the only actual issue, but it's absolutely crazy hoe much extra shit she comes with because of the way the runners are devided. She cones with...
> All of Eliene's armor and weapons
> the entire lower body of Rishetta Freesia
> the waist and a complete set of arms off a 30mf knight
> Knees from a the 30ms joint runner
> dozens of other bits and bobs from other parts of those kits that can't be built because of lacking components like the feet of Rishetta and the knight
All this extra shit makes her price skyrocket over what she should reasonably cost, because the actual stock build is very minimal.

B1R-M sure is a megami device Kit.
I hate the two piece arms. I understand it's for painters who don't want to seam wield, but it looks like shit in practice. The articulated eyes are also set a liiiitle too far back in the face plate to look 100% right.
I think it's neat she uses the 3d printer gray that koto uses for prototypes for her limb color, even though it would be 10,000× better if they had just been white.
>>
>>11738684

>>
>>11739278
I didn't have the same issues with the eyes, but I agree about the arms. I mean, sure, they work perfectly fine so whatever I guess, but they definitely don't look better than the regular arms. I'm sure in the future they won't use these as much or at all.

Looks like Gai is out in Japan, our first 30 minute brother. Manlet...
To be fair he's 14, still a growing boy.
Either way, don't like how his crotch is done, looks more like a speedo vs the shorts from the show, could have color seperated the thighs a bit, I'll still get them probably.
>>
>>11738097
Cutie Honey, the heads should be compatible with very minor modification at most. Pretty much all mecha musume kits have heads with a socket on a ball, but the ball size is different. Shave down the ball if it's too big or use blu tack if the hole is bigger. Some kits even come with multiple neck balls.

Can anyone with knowledge redpill me on the different types of dolls in the 1/12 scale, and what I should watch out for when buying clothes? Like, when I go browsing for clothes on Ali just to get a feel for what to look for, they have all these abbreviations that I don't know the meaning of, like OB11, BJD, what have you. And the pictures I've seen sometimes have dolls with SD Gundam style huge heads and the like. If I'm just looking for body clothing, what do I need to look out for to avoid buying clothing for the entirely wrong type of doll/figure, particularly since looking for refunds is probably going to be out of the question?
>>
>>11739578
>OB11, BJD
Stuff like this just refers to the type of "engineering". BJD just stands for "ball-jointed doll". OB11 is something like "Obitsu 11" if I recall correctly. BJD is just an overarching term that describes the type of joints. The OB11 is an actual specific type of body (a chibi one). There aren't really any specific doll terms that actually signify tangentially whether they'd be appropriate for girlpla use. All you can really do is look for 1/12th stuff, or look at clothing lines that are known to work (Haisuke, Picco Neemo). For Aliexpress, typically if it works for girlpla you'll see it actually displayed on girlpla or known 1/12th'ish figures. Or you just search "メガミデバイス" (Megami Device) on Booth, and it'll show you nothing but stuff that works on them. Well, clothes and a slew of other things anyways.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>11739775
I've got azone t-shirts and I kinda hate them because they have a velcro strip on the back to put the doll in.
They tend to sit somewhat high too.
But on the other hand, the tracksuit set is quite nice.
I do have a Hasuki miniskirt and jersey set and the skirt is nice. Features a sort of a thong to keep it from rotating also has a velcro strap on the back, but isn't as intrusive as one on the shirts.
I hope the skirt+shirt combo snail shell will put up be good. I really like the few soft goods I've gotten from them the most.

Yes, they're all on gundam sized head pegs. Be careful using gundam and 30MM heads on them though, the non 30MS head sockets are tighter. Could break the neck ball or the head. All 30MS heads are otherwise fine.

There's some kind of trick that allows you to plug a ball joint connector to the AGE-1 shoulder since you have to find an easy mod to plug the Wears on a 30MS/MP kit. I remember it's included in certain kits like the Joint Connector Cube.

>>

Based on the sword and blond hair I would imagine that's what they're going for. Emulator copies people, so it seems reasonable that that's how she'd look as Kuon's Maria. She wouldn't have the eye thing I don't think, just like the original Dream Maria.

>>11740352

>>
>>11740381
Megalomaria? Maybe partly because there's lore written into each character's bios, and partly because there's actually a web novel tied to it that you can read on the official page. This makes stuff a lot more concrete and easier to stay interested in than, say, the FAG or Megami Device stuff that's intentionally open-ended with its lore and characters.

Both sides - clients and girls - playing their precisely defined roles with no room for deviation, both being essentially dead inside. Girls are mostly students trying to earn some side money and most of them find absolutely no pleasure in what they do, many actively hating this. Imagine having to spend several hours on street in such outfit, handing out leaflets to strangers, often without a break, but at least with protection of your "manager" who is your pimp in everything but name.
Maybe I'm exaggerating, but this felt like perversion of everything fun and adorable in cosplaying. I didn't even get inside of such places, assuming that I would be milked dry from money, similar to how European nigh clubs do.

NTA, but while you'd normally be correct, he's talking about Akihabara - that place is run by Yakuza, and pretty much everyone there owes them money for one thing or another. That anon is correct about their managers being pimps in all but name, and about how much they hate their jobs but have no choice in the matter because the yakuza have their fingers in EVERYTHING there, and if you're stuck living in the area then you're trapped playing by their rules.

Has anyone ever done a custom hair paint job on a girlpla before? What should I look out for if I decide to do something like that?
My Cyclone Hopper just shipped today, and I was thinking of changing her hair color since she's Kamen Rider themed and I wanted to change her hair color to look more like she's Japanese, like black hair with a slight brown tint or brown hair with blonde streaks, the kind of hair you would actually see from toku actors. But I'm also concerned about moving parts and joints that might fuck that up even with a top coat, and I don't even know if there's any sort of cross-compatibility with other existing kits or if there are third-party hair pieces that are made for Nuke Matrix kits.
Is it something that's even doable, or are there so many potentia pitfalls that I should just leave her hair white?

>Has anyone ever done a custom hair paint job on a girlpla before? What should I look out for if I decide to do something like that?
Take a course in sculpture. Or at least practice on some polymer clay first like Sculpey because it's definitely not easy to make custom hair like that. I experimented before with making braids out of Milliput/Green Stuff mix and main problem was how they tend to easily stick to each other while having rather short working time. It definitely helps to make some sort of wire skeleton for bigger strands. I saw some Japanese guys using polymer clay they harden a bit first and work in layers so it's good strategy as well. You can see some examples here: https://youtube.com/@Korokke_kudasai/videos
>>
>>
>>11741944
Oh wait, you mean painting custom, fuck me. No, moving parts won't be a problem, especially if you intend to cover it with lacquer, which is rather durable. For single strands you better grab a brush, it shouldn't be hard. I painted 30MS hair twice and it was kind of relaxing.
>>
>>11741944
Hair isn't really harder than anything else, the same rules apply. Mostly that means painting as little of the joints as you can get away with and blasting everything with topcoat. You may as well take the opportunity to fill in any obvious seams you can as well if you feel motivated.

Most likely 2K gloss. 2K gloss black base, small layer of metallic (most likely chrome) over the black, thin layer of clear red over that to get an already highly reflective finish, and then the 2K gloss clear to elevate it more. 2K paints are how a lot of these customs in the past 2 years or so have achieved these ridiculous candy/chrome high-gloss paint jobs. Shit's magic, but it's also several times more toxic than regular lacquer paints and requires a more advanced PPE and exhaust system in order to not give yourself immediate explosive turbo lung-cancer (I'm only half joking).

I don't know what the difference between the old and the new is, I assume material.
The kit is okay. Seams on all limbs in a standard koto fashion.
The sleeve on one of the shoulders was kinda hard to join together while trying not to destroy the frill. I ultimately left it not fully connected.
>>
>>11742454
Yup, 2K paints are basically sprayable resin in a can.
I've also been seeing people using clear UV resin to finish their 3D prints, which is way less messy, but that's probably too viscous for something as small as girlpla.

If you're airbrushing lacquers, then you need something rated for organic vapors. Masks won't do, you need an actual RESPIRATOR. a 3M respirator with 60923 filter cartridges combo will protect you from all lacquers, and 2K. Though, if you do eventually decide to go the 2K route, not only are those filters mandatory, but you'll want full PPE (as little skin exposed as possible, at least your arms and hands covered, and trade the 3M respirator out for a 3M full-face mask). Shit ain't no joke, but it produces magical results.

Snapped up Honey today, and painted her gold parts and a bit of metallic under the clear sections on her breasts. A very nice looking kit but the engineering and feel is a step or two below modern Koto kits.
All her parts being PS asides from the clear runner is a bit of a pain, some POM for her joints would go a long way, alongside another round of spit-shine on the engineering. I swear the double ball joint bit to connect her torso up is like 2mm or something too short, it's so odd.

NTA, but that's just plasticizer leakage - the fate of all Busou Shinki, sadly. I've been fortunate in that only two or three of my gals have started to "sweat", but it's inevitable that they're all going to start oozing eventually - the older MMS1s, at the very least.
>>
>>
>>

>>11744946
To be fair, it largely depends on the type of plastic used as well. Figures from back then weren't exactly made by the highest of quality materials by today's figure standards. The ones we've got today will last infinitely longer in terms of holding off plasticizer leakage than the likes of Shinki, or early-era Figma/Nendoroids/etc.

Alright, got the wolf girl done. The legs are a more more intricate to build that I thought. They do give you a lot of switchable parts tho, full furry legs and arms, full furry faces (with pose-able eyes that I didn't insert) a few hand options for both full and half furry designs and a different chest plate. The latter is welcome, seeing how I want to give them clothing and the wolf girls tits are fairly big. Will have to paint the paw pads since the hands are not painted and the plastic for the foot pads really doesn't like to be nipped out of the runners.

Something I'm curious about: Does Koto ever run into the "We have made too many designs and can't keep all of them in print at the same time" issues that Bandai has been plagued with for the past fifteen years or so? I'm looking into getting Maria Dress Code and a Dress Up Body for her, but I also want the Kuon Maria Cosplay figure. Do I just need to find better online retailers, or is it genuinely out of print and I have to wait for it to get printed again (presumably this will happen soon-ish due to Maria Dress Code coming out later this year)?

I'm from Europe and the bat girl was here somehow.
I've legit had a store owner tell me that Bandai understocks retailers because "there isn't much interest for plamo", but the lack of sales is generated by bandai understocking or by niche shit like im@s kits being shelf warmers
>>
>>11746151
I honestly don't understand Bandai way of thinking. Idolmaster kits indeed are shelf warmers in Europe, I can see them being constantly in high stock in every single shop I check while actual 30MS kits sells out in minutes. Everyone with functional brain would say "okay, seems like these guys want normal kits and are not interested in 4756th variant of another idol they don't even recognise" but noooo.

>>11746171
They're okay. I bought some of the headless ones for kit bashes.

Not to mention that, as you put it, it's essentially same kit - only face plates and haircut, occasionally skin colour is different but still within existing 3. Dress is the same. The store owner here explained that when they state specific stocks from Bandai, Bandai will send 1-2 of the things they asked for and ship 4-5 random shit that Bandai want them to sell. This process could cycle and make small store overloaded so they have to sell the random shit before having space to put new products. And if they doesn't sell the products they won't have an income to pay for shipping to import more Bandai shit.

>wondering if they're worth it.
Depends on what you mean by that? Their prices are usually a bit below some other Japanese sources, and, unlike almost all other aftermarket sources (Mandarake, YAJ, etc), their pre-owned section actually has good deals to this day. Their shipping prices, while still shitty since global shipping has long since gone to hell in a handbasket, is a smidge cheaper than, say, HLJ. This is all assuming you're in the US by the by. The tariffs aren't that big of a deal since it's $15 on every $100 (it sucks no matter what, but if you can afford 100 on toys and other non-essentials you can afford 115 easily), so the cheaper base item price + the shipping + tariffs usually results in the product still being either a few dollars cheaper than your local US-bought copy of the item, or roughly equal. The primary difference, of course, being that you can still get the item WAY the fuck sooner than if you ordered it from the US for pre-ordered stuff. Overall it's a great place to buy. If you buy lots of stuff from them then you can make use of their somewhat decent points system, and their slightly cheaper shipping really helps with large orders too. Overall a great place. Their only downside is that if you cancel too much shit they'll ban you. Unless you're a longtime customer that regularly greases their gears of course. Then they typically don't give a shit since they know they'll get more money out of you eventually.
>>
>>11746563
They're my to-go place to buy stuff from.
What >>11746568 says all checks out.
They sometimes have exclusive deals available.
They don't calculate shipping automatically, but you can shoot an email to them and they'll do it provided that the items you want are in-stock or you can provide them with "similar" dimensions and weight if it's for some pre-order or something they don't physically have.
Just don't go pre-ordering without certainty that you'll buy it as I've heard horror stories on how banhappy they are. Don't make a 2nd account if you had one before as they'll think you're trying to swindle the "max X per order" rules and ban you.
Some anons reported that they don't undo bans - so they are permanent.
>>
>>
>>

Godspeed, anon.
>>11746563
>Just wondering if they're worth it.
Worth it in what sense? Like the other anon said, importing is usually worth it money- and time-wise.
They're the old reliable, but not always the cheapest. Always check buyfinder.moe to compare.
Their main draw is the pre-owned section, really, which a lot of other stores don't have. And for model kits, pre-owned = pretty much new, because they wouldn't dare sell kits with opened plastic bags.
You can combine monthly orders (though I don't know if there's still a store that doesn't let you do that at this point), and they'll hold onto pre-owned items for you if you combine it with a pre-order coming out the same month. But sadly, no private warehouse system with free storage.

Thanks anons, I was only thinking about buying a couple kits but the shipping would probably kill whatever I save anyways, so guess I'll have to figure out a bulk order. It's just a little bit annoying that to get a shipping estimate, I have to reach out to support. It does feel kinda odd that just about every model kit I see is listed as 'pre-owned'

Surface parcels are super cheap but super slow.
Just list all the kits you'd want by the "shop code" and ask them about shipping estimate to your country and they'll just tell you.
Be mindful that pre-owned items could be sold in the meantime.

Okay, grande scale dress up body Gourai is way too much fun. Decided to go for a more cute than sexy look this time and change some some parts around. Dress is '1/6 Q'z Off-shoulder Flared One-piece Dress Saxe', purse is from a nendoroid accessory set (meant to be a large purse but in this scale works as a smallish handbag). Hoping they do a shoe accessory set for grande scale like they did for SST, would really put this look over the top if I had some dressy sandals for her.

Sestier-flation is getting nuts. Cheapest listing is like 55 usdafter discount on ali.

Can't agree more. Almost everything was articulate, and those that weren't was like metalic.

Yeah, there's three different lengths of neck. I think I used the medium one. The long one is like this crazy giraffe neck for use with doll clothes with high collars. Maybe I should swap in the short one.

I'm the opposite - the girl is pretty generic, and I've already got a million of them that pull off the "knight" look a lot better. That dragon is fairly unique, though, and would be right at home on my Zoids shelf.

"Anon, you've been a very naughty boy. Get over here and do exactly as Momma K tells you, okay?"
>>
>>11747220
Well, besides seconding what >>11747342 said, consider that most of this stuff is too small to machine stich and all the Azone and Nendoroid doll clothes I've bought are better made than anything I have to wear. Fast fashion has sort of set people's expectations for what clothes cost too low. Well made clothes are expensive.

Well, like I said, there's a bunch - it's a fairly common theme. Personally, I really liked my Gallahad, for one.
