Part of it is articulation issues, making big curves out of hard plastic is going to not compress the same way as fatty tissue so they're just not going to pull off a lot of lifelike poses. There have been some recent figures going for chubby looks which might get up to some smaller tier BBW figures if the trend continues.

I got my Hyper-body Red Hood. I liked the Modernia Hyper-body so I bit the bullet with Red Hood. I know the general consensus seems to think the Hyper-bodies are garbage and I was preparing for the worst with Red Hood, but I actually like her!

Her paint apps are clean, articulation is fine, I like her faces, it's a bit fiddly but not a deal breaker.

My main complaint is that there was some paint rubbing on her upper thigh of her right leg, but luckily I was able to rub it off using a soft eraser. I'll protect those areas when I put her away.

Certainly not the worst figure I've dealt with. I'll try to get some more pics of her out.

Now Anis...(sigh), I can't bring myself to get her when she looks completely awful when crouching. So disappointing.

I wish mine had snapped during shipping. Then at least the heel would be in the box and I could glue it back on. Mine must have snapped before it was boxed up because there were no broken pieces in the box. And since I knew this might happen I made sure to be careful opening her.
She can still stand but its on one heel so she's not very stable. I think she's gorgeous but with the kit issues and paint transfer from other figures I've not bothered with the stuff on the runner and the heel. Kinda sad but I still love how she looks and feels otherwise. There has to be a solution to the heel problem. I might look into 3d printing something the makes here more stable

Also if they're using oldschool cast iron molds they get fucky after a certain number of shots. Each run degrades the mold more and more, eventually leading to ugly, gappy, fat gross looking figs when they were fine at first. Other moldmakimg methods last longer but all still degrade over time. It's not worth it to risk making a new mold again for something everyone has, so the strategy lately is only to make new molds for new characters unless theres severe popularity with one.

Plus they can prey on your FOMO more this way too.

It's probably more that some of these IPs are owned by companies that also own figure manufacturers, so of course they'll always say no to other manufacturers or make it mega expensive when they ask for licensing. Better for companies and IP holders to get in touch for a better chance, like when AmiAmi told SnailShell it would be nice to have more Nikke figs and they started talking.

Best bet if a small company wants to make licenced characters is probably to do a legally distinct similar version, or stick to the one and done runs. It helps them that china doesn't bother entertaining international lawsuits on copyright

I asked them to check if it would fit in a parcel if I cancelled one of the items, or if it all would fit in two parcels. They replied that after further testing they managed to fit it all in one parcel and they uptaded the shipping options, so I selected Surface Parcel for 4000y.
