Got a bunch of stuff built over the week, need to do better about keeping things from backlogging so bad..
Fencer is awesome! She doesn't give me that strange unfinished feeling I got from normal Kagutsuchi. Her expressions are great and her weapon poses pretty well despite her unfortunate lack of a stand.
100% get her and her sister kit. Both are fantastic kits.
>>
File: 20260514_152010.jpg (1.1 MB)
Honey is another great kit. Her joint tolerances are a bit of a mess on the way too tight side, but nothing that can't be fixed. This is how I wish all the plamatea kits are designed. I don't understand how the quality of this line varies so tremendously, her sculpt is excellent, it takes a lot to actually break her sculpt.
>>
File: 20260514_153501.jpg (771.7 KB)
Castoria does some new things here with her cloak, kinda to its detriment. Instead of pegs it uses... tape... which makes sense for how thin the parts are, but I still find it quite odd. The staff of selection has great color separation, and the gold is very very nice for injection plastic.
The crown jewel of the set though is the faces. They perfectly capture her character.
Honestly this kit is nearly on par if not dead even with the figma. The faces here may actually be better, while certain joint set ups may vary. Also the figma has a stand, and she kinda needs one.
>>
File: 20260514_151751.jpg (2.0 MB)
Belveria is a pretty standard 30ms kit all in all. She has some problems with loose torso joints, and her back gun mounts collide with her hair and block movement constantly.
If you can't find Sestia go for her, she uses the vast majority of the same parts on her body.
Her smaller weapons remind me an awful amount of some armored core pulse back weapons... also the long rifles have slots to connect them to the short guns when stored on her back, letting you have all her weapons stored.

Garm!
She's TINY!
I've gotten so used to massive MD girls that having a slim normal M-type. She is extremely different stylistically from past girls, with a build full of tiny nondescript parts. Honestly I wouldn't bat an eye if I was told she was a crossover character.
Despite her own petite figure she comes with a monstrous amount of alternate parts. She has almost an entire second body included, only missing thighs and some internal joints to have an entire striped down Garm separately.
She's pretty fun, if you can get her I recommend it. She isn't the best MD ever, but she is so unique the build alone is worth it.

I'm surprised how much I like Garm. Really nice build, hopefully it'll be like the ASRA girls where we get tons of variants down the line, would love one with a proper gasmask like Tamamonomae.
She matches nicely with the Picco Neemo jacket Azone released the other month too.

Depends on the kit. If it's a Gundam fully color corrected and panel lined, sometimes with more detail picked out. For 90%of girlpla I won't paint, but I will often modify in some way.

Bought some resin parts and I want to get the same skin color as Yuki Tu. Anyone know what paint to get the same color as the plastic? I think the booklet gives different color
>>
>>11790677
Yuki Tu is skin color B. The color guides in the back of the manuals are always as close as you can get as they're rough estimations that you have to slightly experiment with yourself. There's also no pre-bottled stuff that matches Koto's B, C, D, or E skin (only A).

So how do you guys connect the 30ms base bodies to gunpla? I've got an idea for a custom but there's no real way to get the legs of let say, the revive hguc gundam mk ii to the upper thigh of the 30ms base body. Do any of you have experience with that?

>>
File: IMG_20260518_223048944.jpg (2.2 MB)
>>11790758
A bit yeah. There's no easy way about it, you will have to make custom adapters. Either take a tube that fits into the thigh connection and sand it until it fits the MKII's connection, use pla plate to create friction between the leg and thigh peg or stack pla plate, glue, drill a hole and sand the connector until it fits.

Unless you're a natural born artist, it's hard. I got one of these Sousai Eye Decal Master for my 30MS girls. It's not compatible with 30MS though, so I had to make a couple of adapters for the faces to fit. I've read that you can also use masking tape to align decals though I have yet to try that. Also, rookie move to work first on the face you actually want, always try with things you don't care about to get the feeling of how many chancea you have to move the decals, it happened to me too.

Been playing a game called "Starward" for the past few days; it's a fighting game with mecha musume that plays like Gundam Extreme Versus. I only own the original with the hip/torso upgrades, but as far as I know Utage includes adapter pieces to fit the thicker B1.5 thighs to the original armor so everything works.
Be mindful of the joints in her backpack rigging, they're a bit loose on mine.

The Utage and Matsuri upgrade bodies are way better and totally worth it. It's mostly just improvements to the waist and below by using 2.0 style legs, which are infinitely better than the 1.0 shit.

That's called a Ludens, anon. Assuming you're talking about the girlpla one anyways. The articulation is equivalent to an old style FAG (aka, not the greatest), but its surface detail is fantastic, as is the overall sculpt. Great display piece. Especially if you like painting up details. Otherwise, if you like lots of articulation, then I'd say look elsewhere.

There is little to nothing available for 30ms. Bandai doesn't hand out their licenses for fan works.
Megami device was however designed for fan works from the get go so it has tons of obscure option parts
>>11796918
>>11796904
I sanded the hell out of the balls to the point they were totally loose, made larger detents to hold the ball in the cup, used a little bit of varnish to make friction and some silicone grease to prevent sticking. She holds together great and I have no cracks. It was just time consuming.
>>
File: Charmed wip.jpg (459.3 KB)
>>11797164
>It was just time consuming.
The real question is why are the recent archanadea kits mostly grenades? Charmed was a snap factory, too. I guess on the plus side I'm paying much closer attention to joint tolerances now, but I avoided building Charmed for a long time (and still managed to break the joint at the base of her tail), and Meltina is still on the shelf as much as I like her design.
>>
>>
>>11796825
What in the holy fuck are you talking about?
>>11796904
The only thing that actually permanently fixes Metlina's tail sockets without also greatly loosening them in the long term is mixing up a giant batch of sprue goo from her pink parts runners, and encasing the entire outside of the socket in the stuff until it becomes thick enough to shrug off any damage it'd otherwise incur.
~Signed an anon that's done that to all six of his copies that are still in perfect condition
>>11796955
Literally nothing. Just one of the many reasons why 30MS is barely worth it for anything other than parts fodder.
>>11797171
>grenades
It's pretty much just joints using plastic that isn't meant to bear extra force, like the pearlescent plastic Meltina's tail uses. It's the same reason Krakendress' tentacles were notorious for fuckin' exploding. For some reason girlpla developers have a little bit of retard still left in their manufacturing decisions when it comes to this stuff because they damn well know, and have for a while, that this sort of thing is a big no-no.

With Block 2 bodies, like the Buster Dolls and Puni Mofus, you get a variety of neck joint diameters and lengths, but the B1Rs only have the one, so compatibility out of the box will be hit-or-miss.

Got my hands on Falcon the other day.
Nice simple build, nothing groundbreaking. The one actual issue worth mentioning is that her wrists and ankles are very over tight.
Due to some strange design choices her hip sculpt can break pretty easily thanks to the high cut hip design. It can look quite odd at some angles.
>>
>>
File: 20260524_204900.jpg (1.4 MB)
The stand is alright. It's conceptually fucking awesome, but in actual use it's pretty bad. She doesn't have a stand hole, but does include a sort of cradle to hold her flight unit while it's on her back. It holds pretty well. Unfortunately the joint the cradle is on is poorly designed, so it has a tendency to slide out of lock and make her fall off. The arm is also quite short.
What is really nice about the stand though is the drawer in the front for her hands and faces, and the back mount that can hold her guns and wing pack when you don't want to use them. Also crazy the stand has a fair bit more mass to it than she does as a whole.
All in all a pretty nice kit as I expect from MS General. I hope future Mecha Break kits are this good on the low bar, that would make for some excellent models.
This face is... Melusine-esque...

They had the dreaming style version too, and I could have bought and painted that in regular colors, but goddamn I'm sad. At least I made it out with the standard uniform version, so it was only half a loss. I will have to await later opportunities to get the Maria cosplay, which I'm sure will come (they aren't going to release the Maria kit without exploiting the opportunity).

Got Godzilla in the mail, and took off the head to remove the little plastic tab they stick on him. My girl was next to me so I had an idea.
(I know actual kaiju suits have the opening in the back and usually have the head attached)
Anyway when are they gonna make some Kaiju girl model kits with included buildings to stomp around. I'd kill for kits of the Pop Ultra Kaiju Girls.

Question for you folks, the last time I ever bought a Shinki was way back when espadia and Lancamento came out and dug them out to mess with them and leg articulation could be better. So how do the modern MD compare to the old BS and what would be a good one to nab?
>>
>>11802625
Megami Device is the modern successor line to Busou Shinki. There have been a lot of improvements to articulation and proportions since then, and most of the same artists and designers have carried over as well. It's got a bunch of sub-lines, too - Puni Mofu, Asra, Chaos and Pretty, Bullet Knights, Buster Doll, and so on.
>what would be a good one to nab?
They actually remade both Arnval and Strarf MK1 (plus their repaints and Tranche2/Bis upgrades), as well as one new official Shinki named Edelweiss (who also has a repaint), so if you're looking for something familiar, those might be a good start. Puni Mofu Mao is basically Maochao Mk2, so if you like BLADE's Shinki designs, you might want her or one of the others.
>>
>>11802648
So they're model kits now? I kind of like the ones like the beetle girls I got ages ago where the armor bits form a bot or vehicle and after looking around a little, Chaos & Pretty Alice fill that need. Sure are pricey now

Built Marical, she's very cute.
I agree with past Anons, her elbow joint is pretty badly thought out. It holds itself fine, but once you move it a little, it wants to slide off because the peg isn't long enough.

I really like the hat and the book.
From the few photos I saw I thought it'd be entirely static with that head connector, but it's actually on a hinge and a ball joint.
It even has a 3mm hole inside so you can pose it flying with a regular stand easily.
Shame the book pages are blank. An optional sticker wouldn't hurt, but at the same time I like that it's blank and smooth so it's possible to just customize it yourself.

Yeah, they're all kits now - people realized they could save money by leaving the assembly and painting part to the customer instead of paying a bugman to put it together in the factory, cutting a few steps out of the process. While early kits had some issues, modern ones are fairly durable, and the Arnval and Strarf kits are pretty great - enough to make you wish they'd redone the entire lineup with modern kits (or at least the MK2s and Valkyrie sisters so we could have the show cast). Alas, the truce with Konami blew up before they could do anything else, so you'll just have to settle for "close enough" with the rest of the Megami Device kits.
Bandai's "30 Minutes Sisters" line of kits is also pretty good, and it's designed to be cross-compatible with their 30 Minutes Missions and 30 Minutes Fantasy sub-lines so you can make your own OCs; there's also Arcanadea, if you want something more fantasy themed (I highly recommend Gii. She's awesome).

Out of curiosity, what are you trying to order that's a digital item and you can't get yourself? I've ordered both digital files for titty STL parts and digital doujinshi through Booth with zero issues. If, for whatever reason, there's just straight up zero ways to do it yourself, try talking to Dejapan. I've proxied anything and everything through them before. They're pretty much the premier proxy for shit in Japan. I've used them for digital stuff before. Granted, that was like, two years ago, but still.
>>
>>11803570
There's enough room between the elbow joint and the forearm ring to fit something.
While I haven't done anything myself, I think it'd be easy to fix it by either replacing the peg with a longer one cut from runners or attaching something to the peg so the ring doesn't slide off.
It's annoying, but not that bad.

Haven't done legos since I was small, but good to hear. I'd skimmed the guides I saw on the /m/ gunpla thread a little and have a general idea of the basics but my main concern is space and organising the sprue things since I've a comparatively small table to work on, and the mat I've got is A4 since it seemed like a good baseline. So I'm wondering how you guys keep track of parts and the like. And I don't really have to sand, do I?
>>
>>11804082
>And I don't really have to sand, do I?
Sanding is a bit more specialized, but you can get by with just good knifework.
Bandai kits are pretty good for begginers and their joint tolerances are pretty much perfect out of the box. 30MS kits feature runners that break down into even smaller ones, but if you want to have an ever easier time organizing them you can put a piece of masking tape around the edge to write the runner's letter on it for easier identification.
>>
>>11804082
>how you guys keep track of parts and the like
I alphabetise the runners and don't cut out the individual parts until the instructions call for them.
>And I don't really have to sand, do I?
You don't have to. You'll end up wanting to. That's the way it goes.

It's your plastic toy so you can build it how you like, but good nubwork is something you want to eventually master regardless of everything. Theoretically you can get away with just carefully and gradualy shaving awa the nub pieces, but a generic glass file won't set you back much at all on Amazon, and is a good investment regardless of your skill level. They can just be a pain in the ass to clean since you have to clear your file every 5 nubs or so.
As for piece organization, you can buy a few tupperware pieces at your local dollar store.
>>
>>11804090
Making mistakes and learning from them is all a part of the process. Reading guides helps, but your ultimate teacher will be firsthand experience. Everyone does things in a slightly different way, and nobody can tell you what works best for you. And to that end, you will have to make peace with the fact that your first few kits will end up being mediocre or outright duds, which is why most will suggest that you treat those kits as practice kits and buy cheap ones that you won't be too attached to. However, those first kits will still be valuable for learning, so don't be scared to be proud of what you learn from each one.

She is in most places. Flew off the shelves. The typical post-release last resorts places still have her, but that doesn't mean there's actually a lot of her out there. She also had particularly gigantic PO numbers, just like the Puni Mofu S gals, because Koto knew people were going to buy the shit out of her, so her aftermarket stock isn't a completely barren wasteland.

No, anons. If his posts there taught me one thing, it's that Johncel was STACKED with cash.
Went big into renting properties and stocks and that's why he could blow his pesos on Rishettas by the tub.
Secure yourself financially before throwing yourself headlong into grinding the chest-presser at the local gym and blowing your cash on kale. A long life means jack squat if it's boring and empty.

Final tally: $315 on 1/12 doll clothes, which is still less than my own wardrobe, and less than what I spent on the PGU Nu on the same trip (though not by much). Also not pictured, the Picco neemo body I bought for the Daytime Meteor girl, which is about a head shorter than Cyclone Hopper so I don't really know if it'll work out. Worst case, I use the body for a different girlpla and find something else on Ali that's the correct height.

New knowledge acquired: Sometimes Ali will let you shave off shipping costs by buying multiple items from the same vendor, sometimes they won't. Seems to require a bit of experimentation and trial-and-error, but if you combine those savings with the sale coupons, you can shave a decent amount off the total cost. Here I bought off of only two vendors, and the total "shipping cost" got cut from $45 down to around $21. So this bodes well for future clothes-buying, especially as I just bought Camilla last night and have yet another one to play dress-up with.

This one? It was at a local place called FaithZ, they run out of two locations in the one of the high-traffic commercial districts in Hong Kong (just two blocks from each other). I only happened upon them with some Googling, which is a bit more difficult than it sounds since so many stores only do their Google business space in Chinese and loads have probably not kept their online presence up to date (especially since business moves so fast in HK). Since this isn't labelled with brand name packaging and is priced in local currency, I assume that it was locally made. You might be able to find something similar on Ali, or make it yourself by combining existing clothing options.
