Have any of you gotten a yellow fever vaccine for Brazil?
I'm planning to go spend some weeks in Brazil starting in January 2026, specifically Rio, Sao Paulo, Florianopolis but might also want to see a city in the inside of the country such as Curitiba or make a small detour at the coast seeing a small touristic places.
On the one hand I read only like 50% of the brazilian population is vaccinated on the other hand I also read there's a resurgence of cases and that the vaccine has a low side effect profile.

You don't need a vaxx for those.
>Maybe Curitaba or Iguazu
No vax.
Only consider getting a vax if you're going to legit be deep in the interior.

I know vaccines are safe and work but I grew up in a super anti-vaxx house and didn't get any as a kid. As a result I have a phobia (not of needles but of dying of a vaxx) so I get your hesitancy. But yellow fever is like playing russian roulette with good chances. There's a high chance you won't get it but if you do there's a 15-20% chance you develop a severe case and if you do there's a 30% chance you die.
So chances are low you get it and if you do you probably won't die. But if you are planning on going to the interior maybe get it for peace of mind.
But if you're staying on the coast don't worry about it. BTW have fun... Floripa is literally my heaven.

Get the vaccine, and more importantly retain proof of yellow fever vaccination. Many countries around the world will refuse entry to you if you have been to Brazil but have not gotten a yellow fever vaccine.

Not OP but I want to see salvador and part of the north if I go but idk whats up there. Also it would be dope af to go into the Amazon but I don't want a touristy trip unless I get to chill on a big boat like fitzcaraldo. Mostly want to see nature but I don't have any of these vaxes and I figure it would probably be easier and cheaper getting them in Brazil than here in the cuck US.

>only 50% of the population is vacinated
That's like saying "only 70% of the world has access to clean drinking water", the rest is just Africans living in the middle of nowhere. Every Brazilian here is mandated by law to get the yellow fever vaccine when they are a child. That has been the case since many many years. You'd only find people who haven't taken the vaccine in absolute shithole parts of the country.
>should I take it
Yes. Like the other anon said there are many countries that require you to show proof of vaccination once returning from Brazil otherwise they throw you in quarantine and jab you anyway. The vaccine works for life so there's no reason not to just take it.

OP here Thanks for the answers.
So in the end I took the yellow fever vaccine, almost 24 hours have passed and I feel totally fine like nothing happened, except for localized injection soreness and pain, but it's manageable.
The doc was a salesman though and wanted to sell me on like 10 additional vaccines :
- hep a
- hep b
- ticks
- tetanus (which I already have) included into that 2-3 others that are taken together
- rabies
- dengue
In the end besides the yellow fever one, I also took hep a and hep b.
He pushed alot for dengue vaccine, but I declined that one.

I got high expections of Floripa but it's controversial, some say they're not as friendly. But it can't be worse than central Europe, where i come from.
>>2848116
I didn't take dengue cause it seems very controversial whether or not to take it if you didn't have it already. Also I spent a month on Thai islands without issues even though I'm a mosquito magnet.
>>2848577
Not really but I'll decide spontaneously. Renting cars always seems to be such a hassle, especially coming from Europe because we're cucked since you waste alot of nerves and time with parking, traffic, rental car rules...
>>2848726
Also thinking about the north but not sure yet cause it seems like a war zone, I heard some stories from friends.

You're going to regret not taking the dengue one if you're coming in Summer. We have so many mosquitos, and the fight against Aedes Egypty (the dengue mosquito) is constant in any urban city. If you catch Dengue, which isn't that unlikely, you'll be changing your mind about that doctor.

I understand anon, the issue is the evidence and research for seronegative indicates more severe symptoms and hospitalization for certain types of Dengue, with the new qdenga vaccine. And it's still pretty new and not that extensively researched with inconsistent results for seronegative persons.
I'm very critical in regards to vaccines since the covid vaccine which got cucked by because I was just tired of all the stupid rules not because I was afraid of covid, actually gave me the worst time of my life with a hospital visit. I don't want to get tricked again.

So you have a weak immune system, got some side-effects from a vaccine which has been taken several billion times over the course of the past 5 years, and now you're critical of vaccines. Sounds about right.
>>
>>2849494
I don't think covid vaccines work that way regarding the immune systems, even though many had no problems, I think the true extent of its side effects will still take alot of time to be found out, if at all.
For me it's more about knowing what I put into my body and not blindly trusting doctors or the establishment.
There is mixed opinions on qdenga for seronegative persons, maybe I'll change my mind but atm I'm cautious.

This doesn't happen. Vaccines do not work that way. There are no side effects that take years or generations to show up, that's nothing but /pol/cel cope.

I hope so, although I meant more the immediate consequences that the vaccine had. In my case I had very strong costochondritis which is still lingering till today and this was years ago. Now in retrospect J&J is known to have triggered these.

Ive gone to brazil a few times now and met a girl down there. She's from SP so thats where ive spent most of my time, but ive been to Curitiba, Blumenau, B. Camboriú and Floripa (twice). As you go further south, people do become colder, but theyre still very friendly. I think its because sotuthern brazil is more european, but theres enough migration within brazil that the warmer sociabilities from up north rubs off on them.
If youre really worried, try to learn some portugese. Its difficult to get by with english in brazil, as their pronunciation is VERY different. Even if you cant learn much of the language, at least being able to pronounce an english word in the portugese way helps a ton (ie: futbol is pronounced as "foot-chee-bau", notebook = "not-chee-book-ee", direta (porto for "right") = "Jee-rite-aa"
And being able to speak porto opens up a ton of opportunities. My GF and I passed by a really nice fire department in Vila Mariana SP, and I wanted to take a pic of the building. The security guard came up to speak with me, and when he realized I wasnt brazilian, he invited us into the station and let us sit in the firetrucks. He said if they werent doing training excersise that day, he wouldve given us a full tour.

Just came back from Brazil. Been there for 40 days and got the yellow fewer vaccine at the UBS in Vila Mariana, Sao Paulo. I travelled to and was hiking in the areas around Curitiba, Blumenau/Pomerode, Florianopolis, Campos Do Jordao and Barueri. I was bitten by mosquitoes, idk what kind, but I haven't gotten sick. Just note that after 10 days post-injection, you will be fully immune and the Brazilian vaccine is a life-time one unlike those they offer here in Ontario. Also, at the UBS, if you have a Brazilian tourist visa, you can also ask them to issue you the health-card, SUS card, then you can download the app to have a digital one to use it everywhere for healthcare. Also, for the vaccination certificate, you need the CPF, social insurance number, so you can request it thought their government website. Then you can print it and carry it if you travel to Bolivia or wherever they ask for it.

We have comfy places here, we have violent-for-1st-worlders places here, we have violent-for-Brazilians places here, and then we have Brazilian Mordor, which is roughly this region
