Greetings /trv/,

Somehow I'll have both October to November free, around 56 days, and I made some routes.

The first one I'll arrive in Frankfurt and I intend to do the counterclockwise route. I already know Amsterdam (although +20 years ago) and Brussels (which I only want to go for doing day-trips to Leuven and Waterloo - and /trv/ is right about it).

The second one is the one I'm most inclined to do. I already know Zagreb (where I intend just to stay enough for the jet-lag) and Ljubljiana (where I intend to stay more for both chilling down and know the surroundings). I don't mind about beaches btw.

The third one is arriving at Venice (the price to Zagreb by now is cheaper, but this will probably change by the time I'll by my tickets). I already know Budapest (where I want to chill down), Bratislava (idem) and - barely - Vienna. Also, I've been in Czech Republic this year, so I'll skip it.

The third one I'll arrive at Copenhagen and use it as a knot to go either to Berlin side (pic) or Amsterdam.

The final one I would do Greece and Turkey.

Which one would you choose?

Oct/Nov, you already reduced the options to 1 and 3 unless you have some really special interests/museums you want to see that do not depend on the season.
2 and 4 is mostly coastal towns in their deserted out of season state, you might get lucky in the first two weeks of October and enjoy a golden fall, after that it's truly over and everything is closed up. 5 is scandis in the sad season with some germany as a bonus.

OP here
Now I'm more inclined for a less clusterfucked version of 5. I would make a round trip through Baltic. I've already know all three Baltic capitals, but before Euro times. I've also been in Gdansk (and only). I'll do them again as a sort of 'best of' for me and maybe try to see if I can find people that hosted me back in those hospitalityclub times. I could also go to Kaliningrad as I don't need a visa, but I don't know if I should.

That's a based journey. Has soul and character, and every stop will feed into the next. You'll be able to hit a nice variety of geographies, transport types, accom types, etc.

Try to hit Mazuy lakes in Poland, their 'lake district; would be a nice geographical and cultural linker between Gdansk and Lithuania.

I think October's too late, but the Hel Peninsula would be interesting in autumn. You'd have it all to yourself, and could do an epic bike journey across it. I think the ferry stops at the end of Sept, though.

Think your trip will be defined by how the Baltic Sea impacts the people in autumn/winter, and deals with the coldness and bitterness; seeing off the summer and preparing the winter.

From a quick glance, some 'events' to plan around could be:
>15-18 Nov / Latvia / Staro Riga light festival, apparently the biggest in northern europe, celebrating Latvia's birthdays
>11Nov / All region? / St Martins Day - all All Hallow's Eve, winter prep festival
>All Nov? / Talinn / Black Nights Film Festival

Seems the Baltics really like this mid November period, could be peak time. I guess hitting Finland and Sweden in late Nov/Dec allows you to play up the winter vibes, and being in Poland in early October allows your to hit the students going back to university parties.

Forgot to mention that All Saints Day in Poland 1st Nov is probably a must see, and cultural defining event, where everybody leaves candles in graves, etc. Gives a bit of an insight into the Polish cultural soul.

Also seen that 3rd October is German Unity day which could be a very good reason to be in Berlin at that point to kick things off.
