How bad is Chicago weather in late February/early March? I'm from Connecticut so I know how to deal with the cold and snow, but I also want to know what I'm getting into.

I don't have a definitive answer for that time frame, it could be 60s and sunny, it could be 20s and snowing
check the forecast a week before you leave

feb/march is basically impossible to predict. Some years it thaws out some years it's blizzard, due to it being a weak la nina it might just be more dry than usual

i would put my money on it being freezing. things don't start thawing in chicago til around mid april

I did Chicago in early February two years ago.
Dirt cheap hotel, like $100/night in River North.
Was ready for cold weather, but got lucky. It ended up being 40-60 degrees the whole time, no ice on the river, so I got to do the river boat architecture tour, which btw was the highlight of the trip.
I expected the boats to be closed though, I got lucky.
