It was disappointing for me, honestly. The food is superb of course and the old city is beautiful, but it's not a good place to be. Overcrowded, full of aggressive homeless people, graffiti everywhere even on historical sites, people are rude and tired with tourists, museums and galleries are full of political agenda.

I was there for a month and people were really kind to me, made a lot of friends. I find day to day life there really calm and all the culturual events the city does is really cool. I was also there for the film festival which was unintentional on my end but really cool to be there for. Which cities in Italy do you consider to be better? I was thinking of maybe staying in Turin for a month

I had fun in Bologna for 2 days. It would be cool to college there if you are super liberal and don't mind girl's with terrible haircuts. But the job market sucks. It's hours from the beach or the snow. It's too hot in the summer. I'd rather be in Lucca

I really liked Sienna but wasn't there for very long so couldn't tell you how it would be long term.
I didn't mind Turin but it felt a little boring desu.

Cagliari and Sardinia in general are amazing, I took the ferry to Palermo after and it was night and day the feeling, Sardy is so relaxed whereas I found Sicily a little frenetic, way more southern as you say

Bologna is bigger and is more of cultural center thanks to the univeristy that is pretty famous. As someone who lives right between the two I think Verona is prettier, but Bologna has more stuff going on and its more fun
Also Verona is fascist and Bologna is tankie

Bologna was by far my favorite place when I visited Italy. The medieval style architecture was pretty neat compared to the typical renaissance/baroque stuff you see in most of the nice parts of Europe. Less flashy and more comfy.
