Florida is just where Americans go in the winter to hang out at the beach without needing a passport or an expensive flight.

It’s hyper America with sun and hurricanes. Aging entitled whites, whiny Jews, remnant rednecks and ADOS blacks, Cubans, gays, and now there’s big enclaves of Haitians, Brazilians and Venezuelans. Apart from a few pockets of wild land and Olde Florida weirdness it’s a suburban hellhole of multi lane stroads and strip malls. My wife’s family has a condo so we go down there a lot but apart from beachcombing, wildlife preserves, thrift stores, museums, seafood and not freezing my ass off in the Midwest I’ll skip it.
