It was notable because of how tone deaf it was to the rest of the show. That entire scene seemed cut from a PBS after school "very special episode" while the other "woke" scenes blend in reasonably enough with the routine drama.

I think the show does spend way too much time devoted to woke bugbears over gross and tense medical procedures but the way it's done is not incongruous with the themes and subject matter of the show, which IMO is a hallmark of bad woke writing. If there's any criticism I have of the woke subplots, it's that they take time away from character drama and development because the show now has to balance 3 aspects: medical interventions, woke very special messaging, interpersonal character dramas. For example in S1 Dr. Roby's whole character arc of being burntout over COVID and his supervisor dying is barely fleshed out because they spend almost 1/3 of the runtime dealing with the incel school shooter kid

It’s the most accurate medical show I’ve ever seen. It’s not 100% perfect but these docs spending over half their time charting wouldn’t make good television. The racial makeup of the cast is actually completely accurate and the topics they discuss are both medically relevant and do come up frequently. For example, I had a patient who was bleeding and the family was demanding they only be transfused with the blood of people not vaccinated against covid. I had to have a long talk with them about their concerns. They couldn’t articulate what their actual concerns were about it other than “it’s bad”. They offered to have several family members come in to get their blood drawn and tested for compatibility. I had to tell them that blood products are pooled and it’s virtually guaranteed some of that is from covid vaccinated people. It’s not something blood is screened for. Their proposal would take nearly a week and it’s not something we can realistically do. If this moment was on television a lot of you would scream globohomo bullshit but it’s just reality. I work in an outpatient clinic but have worked in multiple hospitals in the past. Working the medical field has caused me to never want to watch it on TV, with the exception of The Knick which took place in the year 1900. I don't need Hollywood kike writers giving me moral lectures about sheboons being in pain, young black scholars always telling the truth in the ER, colored folks coming into the ED for chapped lips and a free cab ride across town home, or getting threatened and attacked by nigs because they're tired of waiting.
