I will probably see this movie later today. For all of the drooling ipad raised morons who know this fat ugly keanu reeves from youtube, it doesnt change the fact that it is an original IP with an interesting premise. Is it good or bad? Thats for me to decide. Also I'm in the mood for theater popcorn because i saw that meme of the ugly girl doordashing it.

>it looks good.
Not it doesn't. Markiplier cast himself in the main role and his acting in the trailer makes Tommy Wiseau seem like someone with screen presence. And directing wise it seems like a glorified YouTube RED original.

I just watched it on a streaming site. Probably would have been better to watch it at a theater, the quality plays a big part in this
It's alright
The sudden climax of the game was much cooler, but I like the hopeful message of the movie
Markiplier isn't a bad actor, but he doesn't always commit to delivering a yell and you can hear his youtuber voice. It takes you out a bit.
It was also boring at times. Needed to be at least 30 minutes shorter.

I agree. And Mark needs to tone down the swearing. Is amateurish.

I didn't understand half the movie. I did not play the video game so if you did, help me out. After he finds all the objects and has that conversation with the entity it seems it spares his life, teleports him back and fix his ship. But then Simons comes back for the blackbox and the thing changes his mind and wants him dead? Why is the box important? Seems that other sub found the same stuff he did. The entity also seems to know all about Eva and her crew since it knew their names but wont go and kill them too.

Too many digital compass close ups and fiddling around with nothing. Like, toooo many. Mark I know you made this thread, you know about those extended versions that release with Blu Rays and DVDs? Do the opposite for this one. Cut like 30-40 minutes and is going to improve it a lot. I am not kidding.

It's not in my theater but I'll torrent it ASAP.

This, I'm too old to know or care who Markiplier is either way but the premise sounds bananas.
>A convict is forced to pilot a rusty, welded-shut submarine into an ocean of blood on a desolate moon
Pretty much the Lovecraft movie anons have been asking for since 2012 or so.

>Name is Simon the Butcher
>Highest body count of anyone in The Organization.
>Even though he's a convict, he's not actually a bad guy and wanted to stop The Incident from happening.
>Just so you know he's not a horrible person who deserves this, he feels bad about accidentally irradiating 3 people.
>Even though he just wants to survive at first, he eventually decides to do the right thing and get the sunken ships data to save humanity.
>He heroically gives up his life to sucessfully get the information back to the surface.
>But he also goes out like a badass. He rams his ship into The Monster, breaks one of it's teeth, and even rigs his ship to explode and take The Monster down with him.
You can really tell Markiplier wrote this because he designed his own character as an embarrassing donut steel OC. The movie would've been a lot better if it just stuck to the game script of hopelessly wandering around a desolate world until the local apex predator feels like having a snack.

No.
I do not monetarily support eceleb, parasocial bullshit. Doing that is pathetic and there's no upshot. Back in the day white knights used to irrationally simp for women constantly; now people with the mindset of a complete beta orbiter retard get wrapped up in ecelebs, constantly talk about ecelebs, obsess over ecelebs, daydream about being noticed by ecelebs, etc.
Markiplier is not going to share his money with you no matter how much you jerk him off because he's not your friend and he doesn't give a shit about you. He'll never give a shit about you; don't give him your fucking money and advertising.

Imagine how entitled you need to be to literally co-opt and steal another man's work for yourself. Markiplier is worse than a trust fund baby because at least trust fund babies don't necessarily decide to make a living on other people's work on purpose.
All a streamer is is a person who steals content from actual artists. Someone makes a video? Stream it, talk over it, get all the views from someone else's labor. They don't get credit.
Look at Iron Lung. What's the developers name?
Does anyone know? I don't.
Markiplier took it from him, put his face all over it, planted his flag, made it his. Despite the fact that he had literally 0 input in its creation, nor was him streaming it in the first place voluntary. He just absorbed another man's life's work like a parasitic fungus.
Markiplier is just a parasite. Fuck no I'm not watching this garbage. Even if the movie were good I wouldn't watch it because his lifestyle and livelihood is so immoral , lazy, selfish, and disgusting.

>These are just basic character traits. I don't get what's so OCDONUTSTEEL about them.
You're not wrong, they wouldn't be out of place in most settings. But they don't mesh well with Iron Lung because the game was explicitly about making the player feel helpless by putting them into a metal coffin where they're blind, slow, and gradually losing oxygen overtime. The generic Hollywood hero last stand shtick at the very end ruins this unique aspect of the game. It just feels like egotistical writing from Markiplier, where he didn't want to write his character going out helpless and terrified like all the people who play the game do. Ironically the movie would have been better if it stuck to Simon's initial characterization of just wanting to live, and using that desperation to make the audience pity him more. (Especially since most of the audience knows he's doomed if they're familiar with the game)

I liked it.Cosmic horroris rare, and it did it pretty ok. The movie is truly just that though, and about 30 minutes too long imo. I would say PLAY THE GAME FIRST because despite being too long, it also barely explains anything, so you have to either pay very close attention or know the lore going in. Or what little lore there is. The point thoughis for it to be confusing and unknowable horror beyond comprehension, and to be honest it does it serviceably well for such a niche subgenre of horror
Oh yeah and the acting was serviceable despite being an eceleb.

I didn't get it. Nothing happened for two hours and Markiplier sucks at acting. Feels like I need a Matpat video to understand the story. Also why did he use his YouTube name as his credit?

David Szymanski is a fat faggot who made a big show about raising the price of his less than 1 hour long game and told people bitching to pirate it before later whining about how the sales dropped.
Fuck him.

there is this german no-budget indie-flick called "Final Voyage" (2019) I watched on a whim and stuck with me ever since.
The entire movie is basically just 2 dudes in a tiny spaceship-set but it has a shitload of atmosphere and manages to create a nice sense of cosmophobia.
Reminds me a lot of this movies premise so i guess ill watch it eventually.

Saw the movie, I know markiplier, don't know the game, love sci fi, rarely watch horror, here's some thoughts
>cinematography is elite, sound design excellent, practical set is kino, incredible style all around
>mark's acting is decent, sometimes incredible during moments of panic, but he fails do be convincingly angry
>I liked the pacing but not for everyone. Either way, the tension building is constant and stressful
>cool sci fi elements, and thankfully not an overly gory movie (assuming you don't mind blood obviously)
>8/10

Never watched any of his videos. I've heard of him over the years but never even seen any recommendations of his on my Youtube so I don't even know what kind of streamer he is since I've never bothered to look. Not interested in the movie since I never played the game either.

Honestly, those are improvements. I'd understand your point of he did all those things and survived but he had to sacrifice himself to accomplish everything. Nobody wants to watch a 2+ hour movie where nothing happens, even if they think they do.

Was the moon monster schizo with different personalities? Like one part of it spared the main character and helped humanity while another part screeched about it. It's arguing with itself. Or they're separate entities.
>>
>>
>>
>>217768783
I've seen theories that he's the one losing his mind from lack of oxygen or the blood causing some sort of mutation or from the monster manipulating his thoughts against him or from radiation poisoning from the camera. The way the movie gives you very little straight information it really could be anything.
>>
>>217768783
I need to watch it again so I can better hear some of the expository dialog butmy first impression was that the blood ocean is some kind of amalgamation or leftovers of humanity since it's human blood. The woman's logs seemed to imply that she started drinking the blood and going schizo from it. I'm not sure if it's the blood itself or some influence from the creature or what. There was some mention of some sort of "doorway" or something and looking through it or something outside looking into our universe, which might be the creature or something else. I'm not sure if there's a different effect on people who were "raptured" vs people who are absorbed into the blood like what was happening to Simon at the end and if maybe that's where that kind of psychic voice was coming from. I really need to rewatch.

Yeah definitely a film that could benefit from subtitles because the audio mixing is pretty bad at some points. I'll probably just wait until it comes out on streaming so i can watch it with subtitles though.

I watched it, and left the theater shockingly surprised. Way better than I expected. Like many other people say, it could have been shorter. 20-30 minutes shorter. I really felt it drag during the scene where he had to get into the crawl space, and restart power. But otherwise, if you like slow burn horror stuff, and sci-fi, it's pretty good.

When I say stole, I don't mean it's about the money. If you weren't a jew, you'd realize that taking another person's magnum opus for your own ego trip is scumbag behavior, regardless of how well you compensate them.
The dude's behaving like an obnoxious Saudi.
Also,
>Make money streaming someone's content without their consent
>Give them some of the money you made from monetarily benefiting from their work
>"I'm helping other creators!"
Yeah, fuck off.

I literally fell asleep watching it. I have to assume anyone saying it's good is either underage, trolling or just never seen a horror movie before. Most boring shit I've seen in a long time.

I just downloaded, played and completed this game, the entire process took less than 35 minutes. How did it becomes a viral smash hit? It fucking sucks

I enjoyed it, as with most anons I agree that it could have been shorter, even shaving off 15 minutes would have helped.
The third act was a bit of a cluster fuck, and I felt I could follow along only because of experience playing video games with cryptic audio logs or monologues whereas I could imagine a general audience goer thinking what the fuck is going on? I can barely understand anything coming over the speaker from the alien/human/deity thing because of how distorted the voice is. I could dig the vibe but I can see how a lot of people would not.
Also the first movie I saw alone in theaters. Will have to kms soon.

Again, it's different because of consent. You can't just make a movie out of someone's book then pay them later if you feel like it.
I can't publish an audiobook of me reading someone else's work, make a bunch of money from it, and then use that movie to buy the guy's IP. I mean, huh? It's just a bizarre, cunty scenario to be in. I get this shit isn't illegal, but it's still cunty and immoral. All these streamer ecelebs are scumbags.

They bought the rights before they started the movie and consulted the game maker if these things would be OK or make sense to add to the film. Did your mom get raped by a streamer or something because you're obsessed
