How did potatoes exist in Middle Earth if they come from South America?
>>

What is middle earth anyway? Like another random planet where innovation just doesn't exist and everyone is stuck in perpetual dark ages?
Is it an extra dimensional fantastic place within this universe accessible through some earth portal?

>innovation just doesn't exist
what makes you say that?

Stop, my invincible ghost army.

Its earth "in another form of imagination" is how Tolkien described it. LOTR takes place in "the third age" but the universe and planet was originally created by God in their universe as an eternal garden of eden sort of paradise before the angel morgoth broke bad and corrupted it (hes basically just satan)

The world is corrupted by his evil which is why the elves, eternal and pure beings, are leaving middle earth in the movie. They cant stay there anymore and are going to the eternal paradise in the west.

They are in middle ages tech for thousands of years.

It's Earth's mythological past. Before magic dies and all the other races disappear so it can become the normal world.
Gandalf is unironically a christian angel and Eru is the god of the jews.

>Why didn't they use the eagles to fly them to Mordor?
did you not see the nazgul's mounts fucking the eagles up?

they didn't have palantirs in the middle ages

Aren't there potatoes in northern europe? Or is it all carrots and parsnips?

Why would a galaxy far, far away know what an American 50s diner looked like?
>>

Well, you see there are no orcish "restaurants" strictly speaking but there are cafeteria-type eating-houses, generally providing a cauldron full of a food to be shared among "patrons." So they would be familiar with the concept of a menu. Certainly orcish menus won't overwhelm you with choices... They're more of an overview of what's available to put in your face. Like a high school cafeteria menu.

For example:
>WELCOME TO GLOB-GLAGZ'S CARNARIUM
>THIS WEEK'S MENU
>MONDAY: BRAISED HOBBIT WITH SEASONAL ROOT VEGETABLES
>TUESDAY: LEG OF MAN
>WEDNESDAY: GENERAL SAURON'S CHICKEN
>THURSDAY: PULLED ELF SANDWICHES
>FRIDAY: MAGGOTY BREAD
>SATURDAY: MAGGOTY BREAD
>SUNDAY: MAGGOTY BREAD

What if that ghost army attacks Sauron with the ring?

Convergent evolution. All restaurants eventually trend towards the optimal form, the American 50's diner.

It makes sense, they are without Christianity or an equivalent so they never invented the university

Humanity was in stone age tech for 200 thousand years.
Sometimes things stagnate. Modern technological progress is an aberration.

Magnets and oil didn't exist yet because God didn't put them there, so they were hard stuck

Middle Earth is straight up postapocaliptic. They used to have airships, fast communication and people lived for fucking centuries.
>>

Just translation convention. They meant some kind of root vegetable.

Sauron can probably kill them since he exists partially in the spirit dimension or whatever. Same with any of the ring wraiths.

You've never been to a fine sit down restaurant in Mordor before, have you?

Also the eagles dont care for the squabblings of humanoid creatures, theyre literally and figuratively above that. It was only after the ring was destroyed did the eagles realize the importance of everything happening on middle earth.

Also George RR Martin can suck an egg, he STILL hasnt finished winds of winter after 12 years

>How did Orcs know what a menu was?
because orcs have cuisine too, it's just awful compared to everybody else. they have medicine, bake bread, and brew things too in the book, though it isn't elaborated what their medicine actually is. the shit they make pippin drink in the film makes both him and merry not really need to eat for a few days and makes them not tired for example. basically similar to lembas bread, but it's booze.
>Why didn't they use the eagles to fly them to Mordor?
the whole reason the ring even makes it to mordor at all is because sauron doesn't realize what the fellowship is doing until the ring falls into the magma at mount doom. having the eagles fly them straight to mordor would tip him off that something was up and he'd have every orc stand around the mountain making it impossible to get into the deepest part. they can't just toss the ring down the caldera of the volcano and be done with it, there's a deeper part of the mountain shown in the film where they need to go. you can bet every orc in mordor would be standing shoulder to shoulder in there if sauron knew what was going on.
>What was King Aragorns tax policy?
this is george r r martin's cynical response to tolkien's hopeful universe. george is forever trapped in his universe where hope is not possible unlike the universe of middle earth, and that makes him angry.

Mordor is a county like any other. You don't just gather a bunch of evil orcs and goblins together and tell them to march across the continent without any sort of economic infrastructure.

>Radagast's red velvet pancake puppies and a Lone-lands campfire cookie milk shake... por favor...

Hobbiton is well past the Middle Ages. Bilbo has tea sets and grandfather clocks and stuff. Relatively modern furnishing, etc.

Why did Jedi living in the high tech mega city that's the centre of a galaxy spanning government make their uniforms the same as the clothes of random dirt farmers from a shithole outer rim desert planet most people have never heard of?

>You've never been to a fine sit down restaurant in Mordor before, have you?
I bet they do have them for Black Numenorians.

He wasn't smarter. It's the job of the guy at the top to set goals and push things forwards. If the middle manager is saying, "oh yeah we can do that easily" then everyone's not being pushed hard enough.
