There has been a huge media push lately to get surfing to become super popular again. All these boomers dying off, and the young generation not bothering to get off their phones, their heavy investments in beach resorts along reefs is tanking. At least skateboarding has a low level of entry, surfing is a super expensive hobby where you need thousands of dollars of equipment, from boards to waxes to swim/wetsuits, vehicles to get you to and from the beach as nowhere near waves is affordable.

I don't see why anyone would want to start the sport either, Indian poo infested waters and Japanese Fukushima radiation rule out all the cheap spots in Asia, Europe has no surf, Africa is Africa, so you're left with what? Brazil? Much easier and more fun hobbies are available if you want to be spending all your holiday time in fucking Brazil.

Why do they keep pushing this shit?
