That's how much they jacked up the prices.
>>
Aww their movies ain't making no moneys?
>>
>>217769751
Its that nearly always what made them the most money?
>>
Same as it ever was.
>>
>>217769825
Net income's been a 50/50 split between parks and cable for like 10 years. It's a given that the Disney films division as a whole is breakeven at best nowadays and Disney+ is 0.01% of the company's profit.
>>
>>217769849
Park prices went up like 250% while attendance is higher than ever, and movie tickets are only 80% more expensive. It's not hard to see how we got there.
>>
>>217769816
Sport isn't enormously profitable for them either. ESPN generated $4.9 billion in revenue in the same quarter but only made $191 million in profit.
>>
If I was the CEO of Disney, I'd tell the company to make a good movie. I'd insist it be a good movie. I know the company loves making bad movies like Lightyear, Strange World, Wish, and Elio. But I'd put my foot down and say "No! It has to be good this time!"
>>
>>217769751
they need to reboot The Suite Life of Zack and Cody
>>
>>217769751
which means they're winning the culture war
>>
>>217769751
Elon Musk wins again
>>
>>217769816
>they made a peter pan movie with Evershart in it
wtf lol
>>
>>217769911
I'd say
>Instead of spending $250 million on the live action Robin Hood reboot starring Adam Conover and John Oliver, we're only going to spend $190 million on the Robin Hood reboot and we're going to use $60 million to produce a 2D film to prove that the medium that our company was founded on is still commercially viable
>>
>>217769911
I just want a movie that isn't "second gen minority writer self insert has parental issues"
>>
If you have ever read anything about Disney, their movies have never been their main source of revenue. Like transformers, the movies are just the ads.
>>
>>217770095
It's kind of funny that Winnie the Pooh and Cars are their most profitable brands because people buying their merch for their toddlers.
>>
For me, it's Splash Mountain.
>NOOOO IT'S GONE IT DOESN'T COUNT
It exists in Japan and thus I will ride it forever.
>>
Northernlion is singlehandedly keeps them in business
>>
>>217770095
Bit of a chicken and egg scenario though. Would people attend the theme park and cruises were it not for their long standing film properties?
>>
>>217770166
LMAO
>>
>>217770538
I don't mind as long as he has his notes app with him.
>>
>>217769911
Some of the character designs are ugly. Why can't they show them to kids + adults before committing to 2hr movies? None of them are masters, better make it committee
>>
They have been closing rides and attractions lately too. And they introduced more tiers of FastPass, there are like seven tiers now or something.
>>
>>217770637
What's the expected wait time on the best fast pass vs the bog standard park entry ticket?

why would you take a cruise from the Disney corporation when you could just take a normal cruise instead...
>>
How are the US parks? I like Disney Paris but I fucking hate the French.
>>
>>217770672
I guess it depends on how many people bought a higher grade FastPass than you. And each other! In fact the whole idea of a FastPass is so brilliant that I bet Jeff Epstein came up with it. It recently came out that he was the guy who invented game microtransactions. No shit.
>>
Disney adults are legit insane.
>>
>>217770729
>normal cruise
>filled with weird brown people
Yeah no.
>>
>>217770984
Why would a cruise from a company like Disney have less brown people, Disney is a McDonalds tier slop company
>>
>>217771017
Because they're expensive as fuck.
>>
>>217769816
Zootopia 2 did great
But it's also telling that everything that is succeeding now is an existing franchise, people don't trust any studio to make anything good but nostalgia can overcome that (but even then those live action remakes are losing steam)
>>
>>217769911
>>
>>217771070
Still, I'd rather take an expensive cruise from a reputable cruise company than Disney
>>
>>217771130
Based Jim.
>>
>>217769816
Some of them are, but on a bigger picture, Disney is a lot like Sony and makes most of its money from other venues. Amazon isn't really doing much money from its movies and TV series either.

We have been for a while in a place, where doing movies is a relatively small side stream for huge corporations and that makes it hard for traditional studio to compete, as those big companies calculate their profits very differently.
>>
>>217770729
Normal cruises don't have all the name brand intellectual property and imagineering activities that kids love.
>>
>>217770984
>filled with weird brown people
This is why you don't go on Carnival Cruises.
It has to be a Royal Caribbean not in the Caribbean or Celebrity which prices them all out.
>>
>>217770729
Blacks have infiltrated a lot of cruises now. I think I'd be tempted to jump overboard if I got out to sea and realised I was on a black cruise.
>>
>>217771505
True
>>
>>217769911
you'd literally get called a racist for that
>>
>>217770729
They're expensive, which means you immediately lock out problematic blacks, plus they're pretty luxurious for their price range. But the main appeal is for families. If you have a family their options for the kids can't really be beaten with top tier youth clubs, broadway calibre musicals, plus they have a dedicated parents' part of the ship so you can ensure your kids are having a ball while you and your wife are relaxing, clubbing, or slipping back to the cabin to fuck.
I wouldn't go on one unless without kids but if you do have a family it's probably a much better option than other cruise ships in the same price range.
>>
>>217771539
Yeah. "Good" is just a codeword for white.
>>
too bad it didn't go bankrupt yet
>>
>>217771570
Also the swinger community is huge if you're into that.
>>
>>217771764
I've heard swinging and group sex apparently happens a lot on cruise ships but would've thought those groups wouldn't be as active on Disney cruises.
>>
>>217771570
>Hello well documented pedophile harboring organization, can you take me to international waters and segregate me from my kids while you distract me with alcohol, please?
Is this really how modern sex education works?
>>
>>217772099
You think Disney cruises are an international child sex ring?
>>
>>217771778
Bro, Disney adults swing like crazy. The couples you see going in the main park hotel rarely sleep in thier own room.
>>
>>217772163
The only attractive Disney adults I ever see are fit couples with like 3-5 kids. The childless Disney adults are always fucking gross.
>>
>>217769751
this means that Disney, fiduciary, should stop making anything but advertisements for the parks. 5B to espn to make 190M is less than if Iger put 5B in a high yeild savings account. This is the definition of a colossal disaster
>>
>>217772177
Disney moms with half a basketball team worth of kids fuck good.
I'd still do it if club 33 wasn't so fucking expensive and lost some of the obsessive ogres in it
>>
>cruise and park costs 4 digits
>both always full
Is it really a surprise?
