Sin Nanatsu no Taizai aried not long after VD and it has much of the same energy (and it was also quickly forgotten).

I think Valkyrie Drive's main gimmick of one girl literally transforming into a literal weapon works against the yuri.

Sin Nanatsu no Taizai was screwed by airing censored despite it was softcore. When the BDrips came out, everybody moved on to the current FOTS. I think it'd performed a lot better if it aired uncensored. I may be the only guy that was genuinely invested on the plot rather than the PLOT

Not really, it has better handling of the sins and characters than one might expect, especially in the yuri part, they could have ended up as generic stereotypes, but in the end the characters were charming.

The problem was that it didn't have a real sequel and Bitoku was a generic piece of shit, which was exactly as bad as Nanatsu could be as an anime and made the virtues look terrible as characters, apparently a game was needed to give those same characters substance.

The games never got explicit as far as I know, but they at least had the sorta magical girl/schoolgirl anime feel where it's an all-female cast and stories are focused almost entirely on the emotional bonds between girls.

Read about a series called Vividred Operation a bit ago, that I think is from the same creator as Strike Witches, and is somewhat yuri. At least the transformation sequences involve kissing I think

No, it has the same creator but it's not a spin-off, it's its own thing, only the game includes characters from Senran Kagura as a bonus, but they are irrelevant to the story, the anime is what elevates yuri especially for the main couple.

It's a Het harem series where the man who is supposed to be unimportant, becomes the center of the universe and most of the girls gravitate around him, I don't know what you expected.

in itself it's sad and pathetic at the same time, a system is created where only girls can fight and instead of keeping it that way you have a "mascot" man that sucks up any interaction and importance the girls may have, lord of the rings (jat) isn't too different either, the girls themselves are the ones who fight (to be fair 2 of them seem to have no feelings for the MC) but the guy is still the center of everything.

in contrast to the all-female (ecchi) series, these characters are decent at worst and not having a man around doesn't help the series improve, even something like the Blade & Soul anime has better characters and interactions than the 2 Het series mentioned (you could even say there's yuri) and B&S isn't a good anime by the way.
