If you want a smart-ass and ridiculous explanation: Suletta's coma was medically induced. The fact Miorine was able to wake Suletta up by slamming their helmets does suggest there wasn't a “concerning” brain damage (at least, according to Glasgow's scale). GUND-AIDS fucks up the nervous system, that's a given, but the show never explained how it does that. So, Suletta was induced into a coma to avoid her brain to swell up and make things worse? Take it with a pinch of salt, though.

The real one is just angsty yearning from Miorine's side being so damn good.

I decided to look into the name Samaya.

Investigating names online is kind of a pain because of all the baby name slop sites, and I'd imagine data sets used by Western genealogical researchers are less than great for Asian countries. Nonetheless, a website called Forebears gives ~6000 hits for Samaya as a forename (mostly in India and Azerbaijan) and ~1000 as a last name, mostly in Iran and India. There are no English Wikipedia articles about people whose last name is Samaya, but there are a few hits for the forename. I assume it's a real last name, but a fairly rare one.

As for what it means, it's Sanskrit and means time or oath (and lots of concepts related to those). I think what they were going for is the way it's used in Vajrayana Buddhism, in which it means specifically the oaths given by the disciple to the guru. Sonzen, which is part of Vajrayana, is the third largest Buddhist sect in Japan, so I don't think this is too far-fetched.

If this is what they were going for, Samaya tells us less about Nadim than Elnora. Dr. Nabo was her teacher and clearly she once believed in her noble goal, so her becoming Prospera Mercury suggests her breaking her commitment. There is of course a certain amount of irony here, as the Vanadis Institute had already broken those ideals by working on weapons instead of cybernetics, even if they didn't want to.

Kind of disappointing in the end. We keep the "get rings and have a wedding" line, and the reunion scene seems completely intact (meanwhile Guel's earth episode is condensed into two sentences). But the "sister-in-law" line is cut (Eri doesn't appear at all in the epilogue), and attached image is the only shot they use where a ring can be seen, and it's barely visible. I wouldn't think anything of it and consider it normal cuts to summarize, but with the scandal I can't help seeing it as deliberate.

Yeah, it's certainly possible that I'm just being paranoid. I can just as easily imagine some Bandai intern putting the adaptation together with no knowledge of the controversy. They also kept Miorine's line to Prospera about becoming a family.

The story modes in general are kind of bad, but honestly playing through it reminded me of how good the show was despite its flaws.

As a side note, apparently Suletta is now tied with Amuro and Char for most UR versions of a pilot. You can easily field a squad of only Sulettas.

It's really not though, thanks to this shitshow any side material of an extremely rare original maintext yuri anime is being restricted to subtext, which is a huge downgrade.
Nothing wrong with complaining about bad things that happen, maybe if in the distant future enough complaints will have piled up then the anime industry will no longer be in this sorry state where companies feel the need to gloss over anything gay for safety.
Or maybe not, but it's surely not going to happen if everyone pretends this fucked up censorship is okay just to have peace of mind.

In retrospect being focused on how they would handle the epilogue from a marriage perspective colored my reaction. A lot more than I initially noticed got cut; Eri doesn't appear at all in the epilogue, but neither do Guel or El5n (who disappears entirely in this adaptation after revealing his identity to Suletta). Lauda and Petra get a single shot in a montage and no lines. Taking into account that pretty much every other marriage reference and SuleMio scene was kept, I'm willing to believe that in this case it was a just a flawed adaptation rather than anything nefarious.

My take is that Miorine consciously fell in love with Suletta somewhere in episodes 4-6, but assumed it wouldn't go anywhere due to their deal and Suletta's interest in El4n. Up until episode 7 Suletta obviously liked Miorine but I don't think she was entertaining any solid romantic notions until Miorine's "because I'm her bride" line rocked her world.
