Why was Ajira so dumb? She literally starts ranting about Nords having pink skin and her mushroom cooking recipe in the middle of serious academic Mage's Guild reports. No wonder she wouldn't go beyond Journeyman.

> Why is something from Morrowind dumb?
The answer is in the question.
>>
>>732222561
Did you miss the part where she consumes a large quantity of drugs daily? And is a cat?
>>
>>732222561
If you've ever written academic shit you'd know her vibe is impeccable. I too wished to just start fucking writing about cake recipes and shit mid academic paper
>>
>>732222561
Real people are like that, the problem is that a "Mage's Guild" doesn't make any sense because it would be a Guild full of Heraclito's, Plato's, Aristoteles, etc instead of Karens, Nerds and edgy kids that read gnosticism and cabbala thinking is anything but derivative shit.
>>
>>732223447
No, mages in TES are largely just their equivalent to academics, not really all that special
>>
>>732223309
No she doesn't, drugs are banned by order of the Emperor.

the Mages Guild in Morrowind is already a hopelessly dysfunctional college, if anything she's MENSA material compared to Trebonius, and certainly less of a power-tripping bitch than Ranis.
>>
>>732225345
do you not have eyes to see that she is khaajit?

Mages are eccentric weirdos.

>>
>>732222561
Ajira is one of those tutorial levels with mechanics that never show up in the game again.
>>
>>732226336
Caius hasn't worn a shirt in 4 years and lives in what can only be described as a skooma den. We all know this, there's only 18 citizens.

There's plenty of stuff you can do at level 1.
If you install TR_Factions.esp it adds a couple of steps to the hortator and nerevarine quests and some guild characters will point you to mainland locations when they run out of duties to give you but it's mostly standalone

The Mages Guild in Morrowind and especially Vvardenfell was a meme institution, if you wanted to learn magic you either submitted to the Telvannis or just fucked off from that shithole. Couldn't you tell from everyone inside Balmora's guild and Trebonius and his aide? It's a den of corrupt criminals and retards
>>
>>732230341
>anyone play TR?
Yes
>Is it best to do it at level 1 or should I wait a bit?
You could play it at level 1 and never even touch Vvardenfell ever again if you wanted
>is it pretty much standalone or does it tie into the main game?
it can tie in with the plugin like another anon said, but for the most part no it doesn't really. There are separate story lines happening there, it's not all focused on the main plot.

>>
Vvardenfell is a shithole actually? Even its biblical disaster makes no impact on the mainland and especially not on other provinces.
>>
>>732230341
It's best at level 1 honestly, the balance is similar to Vvanderfel and most stuff is low level
>>
>>732230598
I have yet to do anything in Narsis because I feel the need to complete adventures along the way and by the time I get there I feel like I'm already overleveled. And that's with slower leveling mods and zero paid training. As long as you stick to towns and main roads, you'll be hard pressed to run into anything prohibitively difficult.
>>
>>732236572
do roads feel more alive than the base game? any slower leveling mods recs, or is that a built-in setting?

This is a setting where magic is so accessible that Breton children are known to use spells to prank each other like it's completely normal, magic isn't some exclusive domain of the highest tier of philosopher, fucking anyone can do it.
>>
>>732250307
Any Khajiit merchant that deals in alchemy ingredients/potions will buy moonsugar/skooma. It's all about being a Khajiit, not the particular character.
>>
>The Guild of Mages provides benefits to scholars of magic and established laws regarding the proper use of magic. The Guild is dedicated to the collection, preservation, and distribution of magical knowledge with an emphasis on ensuring that all citizens of Tamriel benefit from this knowledge.

Meanwhile

>Unsanctioned Training: Stop an Argonian from offering Restoration training without the Guild's approval.

lol. Mage guild mafia.
>>
>>732250369
Chemistry isn't some exclusive club, literally anyone can do it. Children are known to make chemical reactions for elementary school science projects. It is completely normal and people use products of advanced chemistry all the time in their day to day lives.

However, a research lab is still not exactly full of random people off the street.
>>
>>732236342
VVardenfell is a total shithole though, Vivec had basically made it illegal for the Great Houses to colonize the place outside of his holy city and some temple sites until relatively recently, it was left to Ashlanders, small time Velothi, and the Temple. Way back before the Tribunal it was the home territory for the Dwemer and House Dagoth, along with smaller houses.
>>

>>732250729
A research lab is filled with normal everyday non-extraordinary chemists with no brilliant ideas who cut up and fuck around and do stupid shit, especially grad and post-grad students. You've got an image in your head of everyone being a super serious genius scientists at what's basically a combination magic community college and private research lab.

>A research lab is filled with normal everyday non-extraordinary chemists with no brilliant ideas who cut up and fuck around and do stupid shit, especially grad and post-grad students.
Yes, and they are genius level gods compared to normies who think geometry is witchcraft and rust magically causes diseases.
>>
>>732251467
Except no, because this is the universe where you can nip by the spell store on your way to pick up groceries and buy a scroll of invisibility or if you have some time to kill ask the mage there to teach you how to throw a fireball.
>>
>>732251664
This is on the same level as "let them eat cake". Your experience as a hero of legend is not an accurate representation of every day life in that world.
>>
>>732251978
'Hero of legend'? Anon every big market in the game has a store that sells magic potions and scrolls in it, and every mage's guild has a dude in it who teaches baby spells to people for like 200 gold. It's not poor people stuff but it's also not giga-rich stuff, nor is it gatekept in any way. That bit above about Breton kids playing with magic is direct from lore.

>>732252774
Keep in mind the game environment is designed to serve you, the player character. That's why the next town is a 5 minute walk even though the NPCs treat it like it's a long grueling journey. There is an inherent disconnect between the story and what's being simulated on your screen, because it's a videogame made for you to enjoy.

>downloaded tamriel rebuilt for the first time

You will be fine its honestly best that way, old ebonheart has a lot of quests that are great to start with, and if you travel to nar-sis after a few levels there is a ton of shit to do. Hell there is enough content in factions alone you can do each one as a new character. Its nice to think in many years there will be even more content, Morrowind will go on forever

>>732276171
Depends how many quests there are if it's worth building a character around it.
>>732276672
It's balanced like the vanilla game, starter guild quests are low level and pay decent to get you started. You can go pretty much start anywhere.

https://wiki.project-tamriel.com/wiki/House_Indoril
>Indoril’s “class” as a %Faction is “Crusader” (where Redoran are Warriors and Telvanni are Sorcerers). An average Indoril quest will see the player seeking out and destroying the enemies of the House, including monsters and bandits as well as those who pose a threat to “Dunmer culture.” Indoril will bend and break Imperial law, ignoring it in favor of their own law.

If you accept you get a nice tanto but lose some unique buffs you gained previously through the questline.

You mean Almalexia? Pretty sure the plan is to do it last, which means you still need to wait for Kragenmoor (which is probably next up for a major release,) the Redoran area on the mainland (which is being actively worked on,) and finally the whole Dres region in the southeast (which is still just concepts iirc) before you see it.

>less jungle than I hoped
There's reference in PGE to the Imperials deliberately clearing the jungle around the capital year-round to make room for their civilization:
>Thousands of workers ply the rice fields after the floodings, or clear the foliage of the surrounding jungle in the alternate seasons.
The jungle is meant to be the reason that the Imperial City is so prominent in Nibenay; the jungle prevents other settlements of note.

Greetings from the Old Ebonheart Mages Guild! I hope none of you are trading in magical items without a permit.
>>
I too started a playthrough using OpenMW + TR. I recently played through the main quest + hlalluu+legion+fighter’s guild as a warrior. I’m a thief this time and using magic for the first time and focusing on the TR thieve’s guild, which I’ve never done any TG in Morrowind. Also worrying less about leveling quality as experience has borne out that efficient leveling is unnecessary . Part of my RP as a “lucky thief” is to always take a point of luck, so that also keeps my character from getting too strong. I really like it so far and they did a great job of making the expansion feel like an actual part of the game

Yeah there's really no need to min max leveling in this game because the world doesn't level with you, in fact it's better if your build is slightly gimped to prevent powering up too fast

Yokudans, then. Figured as much. If they ever do feel like putting this in the game (equivalent to some madman wanting to do Atmora or Pyandonea) I really hope whoever does so doesn't forget that you should basically be looking at a post-apocalyptic population like the doc says, and not feel too tempted to give them a larger population than they really should have. Anyway, is there a similar doc for this Duadri culture they mention?
>>
>>732322826
Hew's Bane is largely meant to be one of the most inhospitable and shitty parts of Hammerfell, a province full of inhospitable and shitty environments, and there's not much there. So they COULD slap it onto Stros unless they're planning to slap some crazy Dwemer stuff under Hew's Bane, but I'm guessing they probably want to throw it in there with Gilane when they get there instead.

look dumbass a remake by modern Bethesda will be a watered down shitshow, EVEN IF the game gets meticulously recreated in a new engine it will still break all the mods including tamriel rebuilt and project tamriel, it will split the community causing those same mods to slow down production. Aside from that the people who need more graphics to play this game are the exact same kind of people that would be filtered by all it's mechanics.
the game right now is alive and better than ever, it has more content than ever, it expands on a regular basis and the people who play it like it.
if you feel like you can't get into it a remake won't help you, go play something else

Morrowind with high-quality models and textures would be hilariously bad. Imagine approaching a high-quality NPC and he spits a whole book of text at you. Khajiit are Azura's other patron race and ultimately her prophecy is supposed to a big middle-finger to the Tribunal, that is to say I think playing as one makes perfect sense and is "meaningful". Deal with it.

dunmer have a history of using looted dwemer metals, and most of their materials ARENT metal.
You got ebony and some use of iron for low level stuff, but that's it.
it would explain why chainmail is so rare to them as well - they don't have many materials worth the effort of working them into chain.

Isn't the wraithmail supposed to be related to wraithguard? The Dwemer made it
>>
>>732360249
Wraithmail in TR is Alandro's Sul helm, you collect rings of it in TR's epilogue quest but never get to build the thing.
>>
is there any work at all being done on black marsh or elsweyr? most outlandish places and we'll never fucking see them proper outside mods
>>
>>732354226
Nerevar was friends with Dumac, he was part of the crew along with the future Tribunal, Dagoth, and Sul. So I don't think he'd even have to loot chainmail, it's entirely possible he got some as a gift or just bought it.

Only lore, artwork, and assets that can feasibly be used for the already existing provinces so far. Same thing for Summerset and Valenaood. Better than nothing

It's sad to me that all the dev work outside of Morrowind is on the human provinces (the more boring ones.)
>>
>>732361962
They're actually super strong and tall and eat people
>>
>>732362017
You mean the provinces Bethesda messed up with the official games. I'd regard those as pretty important to do again and get right.
>>
You guys ever use any of the lore friendly dev mods? Any thoughts on them? I’ve always thought it was pretty cool the actual devs made mods for Morrowind

AFFresh is good for spicing up the Seyda Neen to Balmora start once you've done it a dozen times.
>>
>>732363868
Douglas Goodall started doing TES stuff again a few years back. He wrote some texts and made those mods.
>>
>>732362958
Just installed the Balmora House mod. Works without any issues. It's cool getting to experience one of the first ever Morrowind mods. I'm going to take full advantage of this house in future playthroughs.

>>
>>732362958
How’s Morrowind Advanced? I really like the idea of developer made enemy variety. Do these work on OpenMW?
>>
>>732362958
Been using AFFresh for a while and had no idea it was made by an ex-dev. Makes sense though, the quests really do fit seamlessly into the game and there's some neat scripting in them.
>>
>>732361567
Oh good I was hoping I remembered some relations with the dwemer, but wasn't certain.
>>
>>732364687
The lighthouse lady being in touch with daedra out of nowhere was pretty wacky. The ogrim itself was fun though.

Chainmail could've come from the Nords. Remember they ruled Morrowind before the First Council
>>
>>732362958
Can some one else test the Mandalore Armor mod? I installed it and got the 3000 gold bounty on my head so the bounty hunter would spawn, but I've been resting for several in game weeks, and the fucker still hasn't shown up. Don't know if I'm running into compatibility issues, or if I'm just extremely unlucky with the random spawns.
>>
>>732225186
And yet the empire's spymaster in vvardenfell is a shameless drug addict.
>>
>>732366810
True, and unlike the Dweme he was never friends with the Nords and would loot their shit.
>>
>>732364363
I'm running about half of them and they're recommended on MOMW so I'm pretty sure you're good to use them in openMW.

>>
>>732368906
I think it's fun that they've lost like half their territory (not counting Temple which is basically mostly controlled by Indoril) because their nobles committed mass-suicide instead of accepting surrender to the Imperials. They lost their second biggest purely Indoril city, Old Ebonheart, and most of the smaller outlying towns and houses are flipping to Hlaalu.

Is Morag Tong in TR worth a playthrough? I've never got too far into their vanilla questline
>>
>>732373973
Yeah I'd say so. They have a bunch of quests and you get cool rewards like permanent effects and they added the retirement island mentioned in lore and Eno Hlaalu retires there so you can finish the vanilla sanguine threads quest plus he also has a new one if spared.

Why'd they change Boethiah into a boy for Morrowind, anyway?
>>
>>732375918
Tribunal synergy. Both the good daedra and the tribunal composed of one male (Sotha Sil/Boethiah) one female (Almalexia/Azura) and one hermaphrodite (Vivec/Mephala)
>>
>>732376150
The end result from having to match with older lore kinda just resulted in making Boethiah a hermaphrodite too.
>>
>>732376150
I've always liked the symbolism of the tribunal and their anticipations, how Almalexia and Sotha-Sil are the two ends of the scale and Vivec is in between them. Male-female, chimer-dunmer, warrior-mage, stars-sea, action-inaction. It's neat.
>>
Morrowind Advanced is turning out to be a pretty kickass mod. It has dragons in it. The UESP page on the mod states that dragons will spawn in the overworld now, so I'm gonna go dragon hunting after I'm finished with this dungeon.

I hope there is a mod, it has a great 90's style to it. Also apparently the gondolas would actually row you around vivec in the prototype, I wonder what other cool features were removed from the game.

Yeah that Swindle the Pilgrim quest is probably one of the worst in all of morrowind. What retard came up with that?
>>
>>732382620
I found the Old Ebonheart thieves guild "entertaining" gameplaywise but the writing and tone is really hokey if you ask me. It felt more in line with Oblivion or some sort of D&D adventure rather than Morrowind.
>>
>>732382620
I hope the person who made that quest gets cancer honestly. I can't stand pointless busy work

>>732382620
imo Almas Thirr is at the lower end benchmark of TG quest lines and Old Ebonheart/Bal Foyen/Anvil are the upper. No comment on Firewatch since I haven't played it yet but so far I'm enjoying Narsis.

>>732382947
I personally enjoyed it but agree it isn't for everyone (Fentus carries hard.) That said, it'll be interesting to see what they change about it next update since OE guild quests are getting retouched.
>>
I found the dragon. And it's a proper dragon and not those fake ones you see in Skyrim. Since Morrowind Advance was made by Gary Noonan, this kinda counts as official Morrowind content.

I tried to use a command creature spell on it. It didn't work and it attacked me. I had to kill it. It was a tough bastard at least. Most of it's attacks almost one shot me.
>bro your Ghostfence might be sick
No, it's turned off because I finished the main quest.

OK need some help with the houses.
I'm playing a mage so Telvanni seems the obvious choice, but he hates necromancers and kills them on sight. How much do the Telvanni practice necromancy?
