Why was Ajira so dumb? She literally starts ranting about Nords having pink skin and her mushroom cooking recipe in the middle of serious academic Mage's Guild reports. No wonder she wouldn't go beyond Journeyman.

Real people are like that, the problem is that a "Mage's Guild" doesn't make any sense because it would be a Guild full of Heraclito's, Plato's, Aristoteles, etc instead of Karens, Nerds and edgy kids that read gnosticism and cabbala thinking is anything but derivative shit.

There's plenty of stuff you can do at level 1.
If you install TR_Factions.esp it adds a couple of steps to the hortator and nerevarine quests and some guild characters will point you to mainland locations when they run out of duties to give you but it's mostly standalone

The Mages Guild in Morrowind and especially Vvardenfell was a meme institution, if you wanted to learn magic you either submitted to the Telvannis or just fucked off from that shithole. Couldn't you tell from everyone inside Balmora's guild and Trebonius and his aide? It's a den of corrupt criminals and retards
>>
>>732230341
>anyone play TR?
Yes
>Is it best to do it at level 1 or should I wait a bit?
You could play it at level 1 and never even touch Vvardenfell ever again if you wanted
>is it pretty much standalone or does it tie into the main game?
it can tie in with the plugin like another anon said, but for the most part no it doesn't really. There are separate story lines happening there, it's not all focused on the main plot.

I have yet to do anything in Narsis because I feel the need to complete adventures along the way and by the time I get there I feel like I'm already overleveled. And that's with slower leveling mods and zero paid training. As long as you stick to towns and main roads, you'll be hard pressed to run into anything prohibitively difficult.

This is a setting where magic is so accessible that Breton children are known to use spells to prank each other like it's completely normal, magic isn't some exclusive domain of the highest tier of philosopher, fucking anyone can do it.
>>
>>
>The Guild of Mages provides benefits to scholars of magic and established laws regarding the proper use of magic. The Guild is dedicated to the collection, preservation, and distribution of magical knowledge with an emphasis on ensuring that all citizens of Tamriel benefit from this knowledge.
Meanwhile
>Unsanctioned Training: Stop an Argonian from offering Restoration training without the Guild's approval.
lol. Mage guild mafia.
>>
>>732250369
Chemistry isn't some exclusive club, literally anyone can do it. Children are known to make chemical reactions for elementary school science projects. It is completely normal and people use products of advanced chemistry all the time in their day to day lives.
However, a research lab is still not exactly full of random people off the street.
>>
>>732236342
VVardenfell is a total shithole though, Vivec had basically made it illegal for the Great Houses to colonize the place outside of his holy city and some temple sites until relatively recently, it was left to Ashlanders, small time Velothi, and the Temple. Way back before the Tribunal it was the home territory for the Dwemer and House Dagoth, along with smaller houses.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>732250729
A research lab is filled with normal everyday non-extraordinary chemists with no brilliant ideas who cut up and fuck around and do stupid shit, especially grad and post-grad students. You've got an image in your head of everyone being a super serious genius scientists at what's basically a combination magic community college and private research lab.

>A research lab is filled with normal everyday non-extraordinary chemists with no brilliant ideas who cut up and fuck around and do stupid shit, especially grad and post-grad students.
Yes, and they are genius level gods compared to normies who think geometry is witchcraft and rust magically causes diseases.
>>
>>732251467
Except no, because this is the universe where you can nip by the spell store on your way to pick up groceries and buy a scroll of invisibility or if you have some time to kill ask the mage there to teach you how to throw a fireball.
>>
>>
>>732251978
'Hero of legend'? Anon every big market in the game has a store that sells magic potions and scrolls in it, and every mage's guild has a dude in it who teaches baby spells to people for like 200 gold. It's not poor people stuff but it's also not giga-rich stuff, nor is it gatekept in any way. That bit above about Breton kids playing with magic is direct from lore.
>>
>>
>>
>>732252774
Keep in mind the game environment is designed to serve you, the player character. That's why the next town is a 5 minute walk even though the NPCs treat it like it's a long grueling journey. There is an inherent disconnect between the story and what's being simulated on your screen, because it's a videogame made for you to enjoy.

You will be fine its honestly best that way, old ebonheart has a lot of quests that are great to start with, and if you travel to nar-sis after a few levels there is a ton of shit to do. Hell there is enough content in factions alone you can do each one as a new character. Its nice to think in many years there will be even more content, Morrowind will go on forever

Personally I hope I'm alive for that day when we can travel on foot from the edge of High Rock to the edge of Black Marsh, that would be fun. Really need someone to get in gear on Elsweyr too. Is a setting where everyone is bound by the social contract of Rousseau and nobody is a maniac that tries to burn entire cities or fields with simple apprentice spells like touch of fire, the moment you ignore that part you also need to ignore any inconsistences because obviously the characters don't act like they should

It's balanced like the vanilla game, starter guild quests are low level and pay decent to get you started. You can go pretty much start anywhere.

If I had to guess I'd say Indoril would be the Warrior/Mage and Dres the Thief/Mage.
The neat little divisions in the vanilla Great Houses is very artificial anyway, we already have the Imperial Guilds for that kind of divide.

>Indoril’s “class” as a %Faction is “Crusader” (where Redoran are Warriors and Telvanni are Sorcerers). An average Indoril quest will see the player seeking out and destroying the enemies of the House, including monsters and bandits as well as those who pose a threat to “Dunmer culture.” Indoril will bend and break Imperial law, ignoring it in favor of their own law.

I always figured that Indoril would end up being sort of an extension of the temple in some respects, including the kind of playstyle and skill reqs they'd have, i.e. it'd be for crusader/cleric style characters. Dres on the other hand I am expecting to be an oddball combat/stealth thing oriented around sort of a hunter or scout given their whole nature.

You mean Almalexia? Pretty sure the plan is to do it last, which means you still need to wait for Kragenmoor (which is probably next up for a major release,) the Redoran area on the mainland (which is being actively worked on,) and finally the whole Dres region in the southeast (which is still just concepts iirc) before you see it.

>less jungle than I hoped
There's reference in PGE to the Imperials deliberately clearing the jungle around the capital year-round to make room for their civilization:
>Thousands of workers ply the rice fields after the floodings, or clear the foliage of the surrounding jungle in the alternate seasons.
The jungle is meant to be the reason that the Imperial City is so prominent in Nibenay; the jungle prevents other settlements of note.

I too started a playthrough using OpenMW + TR. I recently played through the main quest + hlalluu+legion+fighter’s guild as a warrior. I’m a thief this time and using magic for the first time and focusing on the TR thieve’s guild, which I’ve never done any TG in Morrowind. Also worrying less about leveling quality as experience has borne out that efficient leveling is unnecessary . Part of my RP as a “lucky thief” is to always take a point of luck, so that also keeps my character from getting too strong. I really like it so far and they did a great job of making the expansion feel like an actual part of the game

Yeah there's really no need to min max leveling in this game because the world doesn't level with you, in fact it's better if your build is slightly gimped to prevent powering up too fast

Nuh, it's certainly far away, but the speed of production isn't that slow. Work is proceeding at a steady pace, so I see no reason for it to be abandoned.

Most likely. They actually added quests here and there even on Vanderfell in the latest update so it plays better together.

Yokudans, then. Figured as much. If they ever do feel like putting this in the game (equivalent to some madman wanting to do Atmora or Pyandonea) I really hope whoever does so doesn't forget that you should basically be looking at a post-apocalyptic population like the doc says, and not feel too tempted to give them a larger population than they really should have. Anyway, is there a similar doc for this Duadri culture they mention?
>>
>>732322826
Hew's Bane is largely meant to be one of the most inhospitable and shitty parts of Hammerfell, a province full of inhospitable and shitty environments, and there's not much there. So they COULD slap it onto Stros unless they're planning to slap some crazy Dwemer stuff under Hew's Bane, but I'm guessing they probably want to throw it in there with Gilane when they get there instead.

look dumbass a remake by modern Bethesda will be a watered down shitshow, EVEN IF the game gets meticulously recreated in a new engine it will still break all the mods including tamriel rebuilt and project tamriel, it will split the community causing those same mods to slow down production. Aside from that the people who need more graphics to play this game are the exact same kind of people that would be filtered by all it's mechanics.
the game right now is alive and better than ever, it has more content than ever, it expands on a regular basis and the people who play it like it.
if you feel like you can't get into it a remake won't help you, go play something else

Morrowind with high-quality models and textures would be hilariously bad. Imagine approaching a high-quality NPC and he spits a whole book of text at you. And the only way to fix it is to completely rewrite all the dialogues, which will simply ruin Morrowind. The mod that ports Morrowind to Skyrim does this.

I love how morrowind looks.
Crispy models and clear visuals of early 2000s feel awesome on modern hardware, big monitors. I don't even mind most of the low res textures. Having high view distance and tweaked light and shadows is enough for me.

half the people use MGE XE which runs on default morrowind engine and betters the lighting, and the other half use openmw which is a custom built engine and also has a bunch of shader mods. you can make morrowind look somewhat modern with either one.

Playing MW as Dunmer is the most meaningful option. You're in your homeland as an outsider, an arguably bigger fish out of water as you're viewed as domesticated. It also plays better with the prophecy ambiguity.

Khajiit are Azura's other patron race and ultimately her prophecy is supposed to a big middle-finger to the Tribunal, that is to say I think playing as one makes perfect sense and is "meaningful". Deal with it.
More importantly, the whole point of Morrowind is that you can play it however you want. And certain things with the plot/lore were delibrately left up to interpretation. Thanks for reading my blog post.

Legends either had some kind of mandate that dictated all art in the game must have bee in either the Skyrim or ESO artstyle and only ever include things from those two games, or Zenimax literally did not hire even a single person who played any other TES games
My favorite example is this picture of a Dres nobleman from Tear, the capital of House Dres, who is very clearly wearing the fancy robes from a Skyrim in a Viking-style woosen cottage

actually based on the coloring and lore, that and the nerevar armor MIGHT use dwemer chainmail.
dunmer have a history of using looted dwemer metals, and most of their materials ARENT metal.
You got ebony and some use of iron for low level stuff, but that's it.
it would explain why chainmail is so rare to them as well - they don't have many materials worth the effort of working them into chain.

I think it's fun that they've lost like half their territory (not counting Temple which is basically mostly controlled by Indoril) because their nobles committed mass-suicide instead of accepting surrender to the Imperials. They lost their second biggest purely Indoril city, Old Ebonheart, and most of the smaller outlying towns and houses are flipping to Hlaalu.

I've always liked the symbolism of the tribunal and their anticipations, how Almalexia and Sotha-Sil are the two ends of the scale and Vivec is in between them. Male-female, chimer-dunmer, warrior-mage, stars-sea, action-inaction. It's neat.
