I loved them and they define an era of gaming/VNs. But, like many other things in the world they just aren't nearly as good as they used to be.

I was introduced to them with the Atelier Iris sub-series and fell in love with the Ar Tonelico (and eventually all of EXA_PICO) and Mana Khemia series. But they don't really make games like that anymore, all the Atelier games that I tried post-Iris felt too fluffy and focused on yuribaiting antics to really stick with me. And none of the other series they tried to launch were any better about it.

Nah, if this were the case, the PS4 and Switch versions wouldn't be Japan-locked too. It's purely because Koei Tecmo didn't want to localize them anyway. And the reason Steam allowed these with edits instead of permabanning them is probably just because Koei Tecmo are a major, reputable publisher who get personal representatives in Steam and could threaten to raise hell if they got fucked over.

Well, unfortunately it's not Valve's decision. The credit card companies are the gods of our world and that was made abundantly clear a few months ago. Valve keeps its workforce extremely understaffed so it can funnel more money to Gaben so they do simple glances at games to determine if they think the credit card companies will crucify them or not.

Ive bought every Atelier game since the PS2 days day one, beat Rorona and Totori (PS3) years ago, though, but just recently decided to play them in order.
Currently on Mana Khemia 2, man I already knew about Nefertiti and Stigmata for MK1, but the music slaps on these games.
Ive loved their battle tracks since Ar Tonelico 1.
