These gaems feel so outdated nowadays
>>
>>732235297
Yeah, you can tell its an old game because its extremely polished and well optimized.
>>
>>732236102
Are we talking about the original or Special Edition
>>
>>732235297
Yeah, especially compared to Souls games with its refined combat.
>>
>>732235297
Yeah, Trish *literally* does blackface in this game. Like, that king of thing would NOT fly nowadays. Ugh.
>>
>>732236494
Gloria being Trish was lowkey disappointing however, miss that brown piece of ass

I honestly think they just really liked the design but couldn't think of a way of fitting her into the story

That's the funniest shit, imagine if the pope was holding Mass at the Vatican, and suddenly Jesus backflips in front of him and shoots him in the face.

it's half of a game they make you play through twice with the same 3 bosses repeating
>>
>>732240047
>it's half of a game they make you play through twice with the same 3 bosses repeating
Which makes it all the more impressive that the game is as well made as it is, the devs were extremely rushed yet still put out a polished product, standards have fallen far

Anyone else feels like this scene was out of character for Dante? Sure he was there to kill some demons but I don't think he would ever do it in such a silent and mysterious way

>Anyone else feels like this scene was out of character for Dante? Sure he was there to kill some demons but I don't think he would ever do it in such a silent and mysterious way
It was literally just marketing bait to make it seem like Dante would be the villain in DMC4 before release, I remember it very vividly because it was the first footage they showed of the game.

They probably wanted to make her a boss fight like Agnus, ran out of time and just retconned her into an ally.

Arius is this guy, and Agnus is different because he didn't attack him unprovoked in front of a crowd of onlookers.

Order of the Sword huh
>>
>>732240986
For one, it's intended to place players in Nero's shoes, making them question what his intentions are and what side he's on. For another, it could be interpreted as Dante really not giving a single shit about the job (like how DMC2 is interpreted) until Nero comes into play. The Order was relatively small fry until Trish handed them the power mcguffin for no reason and an unexpected blood descendant it could resonate with popped up out of nowhere and fell into their hands. For yet another, it could just be an intentional act. Ain't none of the usual flashy woohoo fun in shooting an old man and slaughtering some demonized fodder. Guy's gotta make do. It's cool to be cool and mysterious sometimes.
>>
>>732240047
>it's half of a game
if DMC4 is half a game because you backtrack then so is DMC 1 and 3.
DMC5 is not even a 4th of a game because of how every level looks the same. the re-use of demon tree assets in every mission is disgusting.

>you play through twice with the same 3 bosses
and they're peak boss design. I'd much rather play them twice than shit fucking bosses like;
-Urizen
-Gilgamesh
-Familiar trio
-Nidhog
-Elder Geryon
or any V mission for that matter. what a shit game.
it wastes a bunch of missions on V, Dante is barely even in the game, there is basically no unlockable content.
Don't forget that DMC5 doesn't even have a proper amount of missions.
multiple missions are wasted on shit boss fights and have no level.
mission 18 is a tiny hallway and the worst boss fight ever
mission 19 and mission 20 are the exact same boss recycled again.

>Dante really not giving a single shit about the job (like how DMC2 is interpreted) until Nero comes into play. The Order was relatively small fry until Trish handed them the power mcguffin for no reason
I think Trish taking the Sparda and giving it away like that is pretty reasonable to make Dante pissed off. His mother's amulet is still stuck in that thing.

On that note, do you think Vergil ever gets pissed off at how Dante effectively ate his amulet?
>>
>>732244118
Nigga your game has The Savior in it, shut yo bitch ass.
>>
>>732244590
That's only 1 bad boss.
you game has 5 bad bosses.
and the rest of them aren't very good either.
Vergil and Cavaliere Angelo spend their fights spamming projectiles and running away from you like chicken shit faggots.
You can't even control the camera during boss fights. it's scripted cancer that glitches out near walls.
>>
>>732235130
how come nero is so much hotter in this game
>>
>>732244781
>That's only 1 bad boss.
And Sanctus. And the Window. Not most of the bosses you're bitching about are perfectly fine.

>Vergil and Cavaliere Angelo spend their fights spamming projectiles
As opposed to bosses like Bael who just straight up have uninteractable phases lmao

>You can't even control the camera during boss fights
You can't control the camera at all in DMC4, retard. It still had fixed camera angles 100% of the time in goddamn 2008.

You speak as if the previous DMC games didn't make you do repeat boss fights. It's practically a tradition.
I will admit though that DMC4 made you fight them three times.
But it also has Credo, the 2nd/3rd best boss character in the franchise.
>>
>>732245274
at least the levels were different but you play through the same levels too
>>
That can't be true. It's not possible. 2008 was just yesterday

Cow go I'm Mr meeseeks

But what does the fox said?
>>
>>732245501
they're not the same tho. you go through them differently. and there is an insane variety in assets.
DMC1 and DMC3 had more much more back tracking than you remember.
>>
>>732244590
I like the Savior fight. The biggest crime of DMC4 is the fucking dice rolling segments. Especially the extended one before Sanctus.
>>
>>732235130
I remember seeing the DMC4 trailer as a young man and I longed to play it; I finally bought it last year and it was pretty good
>>
>>732247337
Use buster on the dice when you see the number you want.
What ever number is on the top face of the dice when you hit it is the number you will get.
>>
>>732247337
Nah, the biggest crime was doing the Sparda fakeout boss AGAIN with Sanctus after Arkham in 3.
>>
>>732235297
All the "old good, new bad" fags really, really need to replay some of these old games and take their nostalgia glasses off. DMC4 has:
>Only 13 regular enemy types, a good chunk of which are annoying, overly gimmicky garbage (and before people start saying they're so few because they're more complex so they take more work to make, the average one has 2-3 moves)
>Only 8 bosses, 6 of which range from mediocre to trash
>Only 4 main locations (Fortuna and the adjacent mine, ice castle, jungle and Order headquarters) that are compromised of about 15-20 tiny areas split up loading screens
All of this adds up to a 6 hour campaign which feels extremely repetitive despite being so short. Pretty much any modern action game is going to have more variety in its first 10% than DMC 4 has in its entirety.

>Fortuna
an entire city with many locations, streets, peer, interiors, Church, rooftops, coastal market ruins ect
>mines
and ruined village settlement and industrial tunnel system
>ice castle
Snowy mountains, Castle and courtyard, waterfall, Ice cave
ALSO
>Hidden Science Facility & Factory
>Jungle
Which also has many sub areas and a huge variety of assets
>Order headquarters
>Inside the Saviour
You're such a fucking liar to say it only has 4 locations.

Meanwhile lets look at "new good"s visual varity.
DMC5 has a city area, then Brown and grey buildings, Brown and grey buildings, Brown and grey buildings, Demon tree assets, Brown and grey buildings with demon tree assets, Demon tree assets, Demon tree assets, Demon tree assets and more Demon tree assets for the rest of the game.

>Strawman
Try to use at least 2 of your brain cells when posting.
>>732252243
>an entire city with many locations
I already told that every main location you visit is literally 15-20 tiny areas split up by loading screens, in no world do any of these places have "many locations"
>and ruined village settlement
You talking about the Berial boss fight area, which is a handful of wooden houses?
>Snowy mountains, Castle and courtyard, waterfall, Ice cave
Are you going to list off every single area that's 50 square feet just to make it seem like there's more than there really is?
>Which also has many sub areas and a huge variety of assets
It has trees a bunch of samey looking ruins
>Inside the Saviour
Wow, how could I forget this incredible environment where you roll some dice and do one shitty boss fight.
Is DMC the only series you've played in your life? The only way you can be impressed by any of this is if your entire point of reference is the gray and brown hallways of the other games in the series.
>>
>>732253182
No Lord of Shadow 2 also has an impressive visual variety. lots of environments and wide expansive world for an action game. NG2 has the same.
But as far as DMC environments go it's the most impressive game. The reason it's so impressive is because modern games either have no visual variety or just look incredibly ugly, strile or both.
>>
>>732249878
Your argument is that it's short, therefore bad?
It's packed with action. The enemies are reactive and well designed. Even the normal "zombie" is throwing stuff, charging at you, climbing after you, transforming, staggering, can be used as a projectile etc.
They are animated a lot better than most modern survival horror.
