MGS is easily the best series of all time. Not one bad mainline game. Even V is decent. And 3 is one of the best games of all time.

4 is a good video game that comes with a kino move, I don't see what's wrong with it.
V is a good MGS game even if it is very different from the others. It still has good themes, and atmosphere. Even if it's not as story heavy as other MGS games, I still love it for what it is.

Most people that dont like 4 still were on a ps2 for half a decade after the ps3 was out. mgs4 was is the most revolutionary game in history. The graphics havent been topped yet. You could fucking crouch hump??? What other shitty stealthy game has mechanics beyond stay in the rafters or stay in the shadows? None.

best to do release order, so get the collection
the remake is fine as a start since MGS3 works very well standalone, but it's a single game
MG1 can be skipped somewhat but do NOT skip MG2
(MG1/MG2 are NOT MGS1 and MGS2)

Let me say this louder for you: IF SHE WON, AMERICA DOESN'T GET THE MONEY! Y'know the thing she was fucking sent out to do and claims to be dedicated to?

Some concessions have to be made. Logically The Boss couldn't have won, at most she would have tried to get some satisfaction out of fighting her student one last time and ultimately threw the fight, but that would have been unsatisfying for the player.
One could argue that The Boss had been gauging Snake's evolution all game long, willingly sending The Cobras to their deaths at his hand in order to further shape him and help him lose his innocence and hesitation, a process she herself saw as each time she and Snake fought in hand to hand he managed to fight back a little more, believing he was finally ready to surpass her by the moment she issued the final challenge. But if Snake had simply been unprepared by that point she simply would have let him win anyway, for her mission required her to

Can we be real for a moment. Metal Gear has lost a LOT of popularity across the years. For as popular and memed as it was Metal Gear Rising actually sold quite mediocre and it wasn't a bad video game either. The Metal Gear brand isn't that strong. It may be Konami's biggest series but it's not even beating Assassin's Creed and you got to remember how criticized Assassin's Creed was for many years even before the existence of the recent game.
Metal Gear has lost a lot of popularity in general. See how Metal Gear Solid Delta only sold one million units despite being on TWO consoles. And since its a remake of a prequel game you would think more newcomers would jump in but they didn't. To new gamers Metal Gear is some old irrelevant thing. Even games like the first Kingdom Hearts have managed to keep on trending around in recent times without being remade. Sorry to say but the Metal Gear brand's heyday has been over for many years and I would argue it lost its buzz even before Metal Gear Solid 5 was released because examples like Metal Gear Peace Walker which was directed by Hideo Kojima himself is not considered that successful of a game nor is it recommended by fans. Metal Gear is very much a thing of an older era and it's not popular with young gens.
And including Metal Gear in Fortnite and Smash Ultimate didn't help Delta sell better.

All the CQC animations they added in just adds so much to the game. It finally feels like a proper system instead of punch punch kick and a grab, you can feel why Naked Snake is a force to be reckoned with. No more just teasing you with what CQC could be in the title screen

And that's probably a good thing. Do you really think that this current generation would add anything of use to the MGS fanbase? I don't think so at all.
But I would say that it doesn't really even need to be popular anymore. I mean, the series is over by this point. But I do believe that 1-5 are all must plays, and 3 is still the greatest game of all time. But like you said, I don't think zoomers even have an interest anymore, so it is kind of unfortunate in that sense.

It could have added a bit more, but the additions it did do were quite good, especially the "every Snake is unique" system with the scars. it's really impressive.

I think the design philosophy behind the game was "keep most of the original stucture, with slight changes without breaking it" so it reflect on Snake : he mostly look the same, but he has a small little difference
They have said in articles they do not intend to do that for the future though, it was just for MGS3
>>
>>732243213
Yeah, they talked a lot about their intent with the whole picking Delta for the name of the game.
I respect that and I think it was a pretty good effort, even going so far as to keep all the original magazines, gravure posters and all. UE5 photorrealism can understandably be hit or miss but I do think there's far more good than bad.
It's a shame that legacy mode was a bit undercooked, though. No option for the Subsistance camera and the fact that the entirety of the original game assets are found within the files point to the intention having been to use the original graphics for legacy, a la Halo Anniversary, but that didn't end up happening
I do wish that they would have let you get EVA's C96, though. Love that gun.

MGS3 is far more modern and easier to remake than MGS1. It was the safest option so that's why they went with it, a way for the studio to test the waters and garner goodwill without much risk.
Remaking MGS1 would have led to another Twin Snakes situation where the game breaks because of your ability to use first person aiming

It was pretty great. I'm surprised Konami decided to go the extra mile with the new CQC and including Snake vs Monkey or Snake vs Bomber Man if you were playing on xbox.
I have high hopes for their Peace Walker remake. that game could potentially be MGS V but complete.

Only played MGS1 and MGR:R, and I loved them to bits. Tried MGS2, but got filtered by the gameplay, but that was a couple months ago. But then again, I was looking at Peacewalker recently. Should I retry MGS2 or try out PW?

Typical shit. MGS3 is dogwater for brainlets and especially falls apart during that Granin office scene, that scene sets up all the cancer to come after
>>
>>
>>
>>732251613
Cope harder, 3 has no narrative value I don't care that it helped you unlearn your grade school nationalism or whatever, faglord brainlet
3 is a painful bore, vapid on purpose half the time as Kojima talks down to his fanbase, and spoonfeeds basic concepts in the form of deep monologues so retards will actually listen.
This is all without actually addressing the Granin scene too which just trivializes the entire series and makes you wonder why you swallow Kojima's turds at all.

V has one big issue that essentially cheapens the whole franchise. They literally make Big Boss sound different from what his canon voice was. How the fuck are you going to do that? Who even is this character now? They didn't even replace BBs Jap voice actor. Stupid.

>>732252924
Yes, time has been nice to it but its still a shit stain smear on the franchise.
>>732252939
That is literally irrelevant. MGS does have wacky stuff but the overall narrative and stuff was coherent more so than any of the rest
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>732242086
Biggest truth. I have stuck around since 2007 but the franchise itself couldn't catch on to the rest of the industry which could be a good thing and bad thing. I wonder that's why the movie deals have been shaky and cancelled because they fear that the popularity has died and wouldn't sell to the modern audience.
>>
>>732253060
Both of those characters are very well written for different reasons. The end is well written because you can clearly see his ambition, goal, and what he eventually gains when he dies. I will admit that volgin is not as well written as the other characters, but he is still an amazing villain.

Raiden is cool.
>shit bosses
Olga fight is great, Vamp is a fun encounter, Fortune is ok, Fatman is annoying but at least somehow funny and Solidus is a kino boss fight albeit pretty easy and gimmicky. Mass-produced Rays were okay too.
>mediocre at best stealth gameplay which just involves tranqing a guard and then waiting for the backup to leave
Basically MGS1 but better, it's fun to see how enemies react to hold up, post-alarm patrols are fun to evade and it is still possible to avoid any contact with patrolling enemies, now using more tricks and environment around you.
>terrible backtracking and escorting sections
Big Shell design makes backtracking pretty effortless and the whole Emma section doesn't take too much time or require some herculean effort to do. Swimming part may be annoying but it is pretty fast.
>constant meaningless codec calls
>not liking codec calls in an MGS game

How is MGS The Legacy Collection? Is it good way to get into the series for first time?
I bought the physical copy many years ago and it came with functional codes for MGS1 and VR missions (not that it matters since my PS3 is already hacked)
The reason why I'm asking is because apparently there are multiple versions of MGS 2 and 3, and I'm wondering if the Legacy Collection versions is missing some stuff

I know people here hate Kojima but he was the brainchild behind the series for better or worse. I can't really trust Konami to carry on the spirit of the series. Fox Hunt proved they have no idea what they're doing in regards to an online multiplayer. And Delta already had everything in place, they just needed to trace over it essentially.
