I would give it a perfect score because I grew up with it so all the annoying bits are still fun to get through because I learned how to play it right as a kid. Some of the A ranks can get a little annoying though. I want to play SA2 on the Switch.

Very fun, very replayable
A lot of BS missions though

It's one third of a good game.
The mech stages and emerald shard hunting stages are terrible though . Idgaf about the chao garden, never bothered with it.

it's not 1/3 of a good game because a lot of the speed stages suck too. City Escape, Pyramid Cave, Crazy Gadget and Final Chase are all bad, and even the good stages have the issue of Sonic and Shadow's controls being jank Honestly a few of the mech stages like Cosmic Wall are preferable

The only thing I really hate about the game is fighting the camera half the time. Fixing that, less platforming in the mech stages and the emerald radar from adventure 1 would make it a 10 easily.

Opinion discarded. The best mech stage doesn't come close to even the worst Sonic stage. Restarting after the occasional glitch in a hedgehog level is way better than slowly walking through an earrape level.

Ive never had an issue with the camera in this game

4/5. The focus on ranking and making each of the playstyles more limited is a significant improvement over SA1, and having more aggressive enemies in speed and mech stages is appreciated. However, the treasure stages become less interesting once you learn them, and the game still suffers from some filler.

It was the culmination of everything Sonic at the time. Its like the video game version of post-fap remorse. It was too good in the moment and afterwards anything else just underwhelmed which is why despite all the cheesy dialogue Sonic never came back after SA2.

3. It's overall an enjoyable experience, but I've never had the desire to 100% it, and I don't have as much patience nowadays to deal with raising multiple Chao like I did when I was younger.
