Seriously, the jump from 1 to 2 is astounding.
You could say the same about 2 and 3 JP but i feel they are not comparable since one is trying to be Top Gun while the Other is GitS with planes.

TotK DID improve the main quest by far. The temples and it's bosses are night and day compared to the divine beast and the blights.

Thematically and the more traditional bosses sure, but a lot of people, maybe myself included, think the divine beasts were much better designed. The gimmick of opening the map to move a part of the divine beast to solve puzzles and get to areas was really neat. The dungeons in tears were like a watered down, bite-sized version of real Zelda dungeons. The water temple was garbage, the Goron one hardly felt like a dungeon, Wind and Gerudo were okay. The most memorable part was just getting to the wind temple.

reminds me of this one VN.
The original has all sorts of fucked up shit, like the mc's dad is beheaded and while his mum is raped by bandits in some camp. They even bring out the husband's decapited head to watch/or eat out the bandit's cum. This was the opening to it, the entire game is a gorefest with NTR and all sorts of fuckery.
The sequel is a generic slice of life moege set in a knight school with not a single bad thing in sight, however it has the same mc. The MC is jaded as fuck from the events from the first game like some war victim.
It's so fucking weird, nobody acknowledges it either i think, he just went through a fucked up game and then has a cutesy school romance afterwards.

This to an unbelievable degree and its legitimately great test of taste
the design of Silksong is leagues beyond Hollow Knight to a point where I'm baffled it's the same devs. Hollow Knight has better instant gratification but Silksong is nuanced and precise in its design and when you do git gud it feels better than Hollow Knight ever could.
