What is the longest amount of time you have been stuck at a puzzle in video games?

The boulder puzzle is flat out not possible for Claude to get past. It's not like the mansion, rocket hq, silph co, or safari zone where just navigating with enough persistence and lucky timed context clears could get him through. It's an obstacle that Claude completely fails to understand, is unable to see the goal, and is unable to learn from mistakes.

Safari Zone is basically linear, too. It's got a handful of trap areas, but otherwise it's just following the path to the end. With the boulder puzzles you have to plan a few steps ahead, which makes all the difference.
>>
>>
>>732254484
Let's put it this way. He can not see the buttons. He doesn't even know they exist, so it's not even a matter of figuring out the puzzles. The only way he potentially gets through here is by pure luck and a ton of time.

I believe he knows there is supposed to be a switch, but has no idea what it looks like, and even seems to think it's almost random. like he pushed the boulder into a random spot and thinks it activated the switch

as the others explained, safari zone is ironically leagues easier for claude.
if something is difficult or unintuitive, then its likely to have several explicate guides online. so he gets a good cache of knowledge on the given thing
but if its self explanatory, there wont be anything and we see the real failing of LLMs as problem solvers
which is the fact that they arent really thinking, and just trying to predict what should happen next. his training data includes knowledge to get through the safari zone because its actually pretty difficult and can even result in a hard lock. but the manor? a human can reasonably get through that with a little trial and error
you could actually see this in motion very well the first time he got cut
>pretty much beelined for the surge cut tree
>beat surge
>cannot for the life of him figure out how to get out of the electric type tard yard
>eventually manages to get out due to pure random chance
and since that was supposed to be the TM intro, there's nothing similar for strength puzzles. they're supposed to be intuitive so there's no explanations online.
this goes for everything he gets stuck on, from leaving cerulean to even finding the stairs in his bedroom.
strength puzzles additionally require """too much""" focus and thinking, its way too much for the glorified chatbot to even random chance his way through (with dig, at least)
this is also why he has so much trouble with dig, there's nothing online that says "dig will not help you progress, all it does is bring you backwards" so he'll never realize that every time he uses it when he "gets stuck" he's just fucking himself over.

He has noticed the floor switch tile looking different but assumes it's an item ball or just decorative tile. If he solves the first puzzle, he might realize the tile being the floor switch and he will see the later floor switches on the go.
Also once you solve the puzzle, the puzzle stays solved from that point on

its cheating.
CPP is an experiment to see if an LLM is capable of beating pokemon with the same access to the game that a human has, his current handicaps (ex: tile cord overlay) will be removed one by one as claude manages to beat the game.
GPP is a jeet trying to grasp attention for himself, he handfeeds the bot the solution every time it starts to slow down.

The issue here is that not only does he not know how to complete this, but he doesn't even know where to start.
Nothing in his dataset tells him where to find the switches or what they'd look like to him, nor where he should find the boulders then where to push them.

As opposed to where? Because I'm pretty sure the Japanese title for Lufia 2 is Estpolis Denki 2 or something like that.
Lufia 2 was my first RPG. Getting through those puzzles was challenging for a single digits, but rewarding.

There was a fault with his vision where if he wandered south of Cerulean into the underground path (previous claudes had ADHD and could not focus on anything) he didn't see the stairs leading back up and thought the path was one way.
So he had to go all the way through, then diglett's cave, then pewter city and mt. moon back into cerulean, only to find go near the cut tree to route 9, get distracted and begin this anew
eventually he became a DIGGER and died as one

After beating Lt Surge, he needed to find the path way to rock tunnel blocked by cuttable tree. He didn't see the tree, so he looped Vermilion->Diglet Cave->Viridian>Pewter->Mt Moon->Cerulean->Vermilion and so on. >Claude III straight up got to the Rocket Hideout and couldn't do the spin tile puzzle
>Claude IV got stuck in the same place but also managed to get to Erika's gym, used cut in the right place and then proceeded to battle every trainer who WASN'T Erika
>Claude V got stuck in Rocket Hideout again but managed to clear fighting dojo
>Claude VI got stuck in Pokémon Mansion for ages but eventually completed it and is now stuck on Victory Road where he will likely remain
>>

Claude 1 never made it through Cerulean Trash House and would loop to badge man eventually becoming the badge man
Claude 2 >>732263808
Claude 3 was first to reach Rock Tunnel, clear it and arrive to Celadon. The rocket hide out spin tile walled him
Claude 4 also got to Celadon, even manage to reach Erika's gym but never challenged Erika. He did beat all teh other trainers in the gym but the last one poisoned his fire starter and Claude panicked his way out never able to return. Got walled by Rocket Hideout spin tiles
Claude 5 also reached Celadon but he also manage to get drink for the guard, ventured to Saffron and beat the Fighting Dojo but didn't get through the Rocket Hideout nor reach Erika

As far as I know, it has not once recognized that circle on the ground as the floor switch. It knows that there is a floor switch in this area and that pushing the boulder onto it is the solution, but even standing right next to the actual switch isn't enough to realize what it is. Maybe it's because the circle blends in with the floor and walls, who knows.

I don’t understand this. Red/Blue has a ton of guides and all of them mention Victory Road and they all mention that you have to push boulders onto switches. If Claude can use guides for Safari Zone then he could use them here. Also he never once mentions using guides in his little text box thingy so it’s unclear if he does actually use them or not.

There was one shrine in BOTW that had you arranging stone spheres in a particular order. I can't recall perfectly but I think the solution had something to do with how the rooms torches were arranged, but I'd spent a while being clueless, staring at a shrine wall wondering if there was a clue in the constellation-like designs that decorated said wall.

Anthropic's employee has Claude AI play Pokemon Red. This is the 6th iteration of Claude.
Year ago anons found out Claude 2 who was in Mt Moon devising blackout strategy that let it exit Mt Moon (to the entrance). Later Claude 2 started SS Anne quest that led to him thinking his backsprite was the Captain he was looking for. Claude also gaslit himself thinking the Captain won't speak to him because he's carrying KO'd Pidgeotto Sand which led to memes about the Captain caring about birds. After much shenaningans and exiting the ship and failing to find his way back to the ship, Claude started to loop the pidgey house thinking the pidgey NPC refuses to talk to him because the Captain has ordered it not to share the secret how to board the ship.
Finally Claude got back to the ship and looped days there until he hallucinated an NPC saying: "Only sailors know how to leave" which made him beeline the rival and captain and successfully got Cut and made it out of the ship.

As the Claudes develop it seems they get more goal oriented and are less likely to catch Pokemon just because. Claude 1 caught a bunch of stuff, and Claude 2 would catch Clefairies because they were rare. Claudes 2 and 3 thought they needed flash so they caught a bunch of pokemon for their pokedex. Apart from that, he usually only catches things because he needs them for an HM or he thinks he needs them for the next gym leader.

Gen 5 was when they were really counting on taking off as more of an online thing so it didn't feel quite as bad at the time, the online wasn't great and no secret bases or etc was a step down but the online stuff did add more to do that you just can't really now. B/W2 at least has good postgame content to use them in, BW1 a little less but still some.
Both the games really fumbled with the seasons as a mechanic, it sucks they don't change during playtime unless you go out of your way really.
>>
>>732253973
I can't say for sure because I was very young at the time. But I'm pretty sure it took me at least half a year to get through the puzzle woods in oracle of seasons. One day it just happened, I never solved the puzzle it was all luck / trial and error.

>Every champion uses a pseud, so naturally they're nearly impossible to get during the main game.
Not to the ridiculous degree gen 5 played at.
>Dratini
Evolves at level 30, then again at 55
>Larvitar
Evolves at 30, then 55
>Bagon
Evolves at 30, then 50
>Beldum
Evolves at 20, then 45
>Gible
Evolves at 24, then 48
>Dieno
Evolves at *50*, then *64*
It was egregious, not the only line like that either. I liked the reusable TMs, I liked the seasonal changes, but the levels gen5 mons evolve at are ridiculous.

I got filtered at the Eagle's Tower in Link's Awakening on my gameboy and refused to look up how to beat the dungeon. Never went back to finish it.

Most games you can face down the final main playthrough with a fully evolved pseudo legendary
not gen 5 though, instead you get whomped by an underleveled pre-evolved one just to really rub it in that is probably one of the worst sucker punch fights in the series

>>732292294
at least it can learn moves unlike fucking beldum, splash it more useful than take down
>>
>>732292474
Still has bad stats especially against when you're going up against in the endgame. It's all Dragons at the end, your Deino is just totally useless when instead you could have one of the strongest pokemon of the generation.
>>
>>732292474
>take down sucks
No argument there. Imagine every move having less accuracy than take down for 40 levels.
You can switch hit and drag him to 20, it sucks but it's no different from Magikarp. 15 levels in gen 3, 19 every other gen, not fun but not impossible. You cannot drag Dieno to 50 reasonably, just for him to evolve again in 16 levels. They never pulled that again for a reason.

Yeah. The next closest is Dragapult at 60, then Dragonite + Tyranitar at 55.I actually did get to use a Hydreigon when I played Y because one was a very rare encounter in Victory Road, as if Y wasn't easy enough already.then again you can get a level 9 Salamence in Sun/Moon so...
>>
>>
>>732294025
OH wait, I'm sorry. Dragonite and T-tar are tied for fourth. Third place is Volcarona, which is the highest for a first evolution in the series at level 58.
Imagine getting a Larvesta from an egg thinking it'll evolve stupidly early like every other bug type and then it's still a Larvesta while you have a fucking Tyranitar on your team

To this very day in all games in all generations, yes. Of all pokemon that evolve by leveling, he still has the crown.
Dieno has a slow leveling rate on top of it all too. Just grab Axew if you want a dragon in gen 5, Dieno's design is malicious.

It double dies to Fairy. It's not bad by any measure but it has problems.
>>
>>732294505
He wasn't king of the psudos or anything, but he wasn't awful. Then they introduced Fairy type the very next gen, which shit all over him due to x4 weakness. He's had it rough.
>>732294609
16 levels early works fine, I'll take every earlier level I can get in gen 5. First gen I ever boxed my starter.

Super Mario RPG's Sunken Ship puzzle before the Squid boss. Never figured it out on my own and found the answer in a Tips & Tricks magazine. Would have never figured it out on my own. Probably still wouldn't as an adult.

the pacing sucked ass
>fishing is postgame
>ice beam and earthquake tms are postgame
>literally only one water type until you get surf like 6 badges in
>region is completely linear
>can't fight the gym leader without doing some stupid team plasma shit first
>can't get to the next route without beating gym leader
>team plasma is fucking retarded
literally the only things I liked about the game was krookadile and hilda's ass.

The only fair complaint here is locking moves that were always given or obtainable in some manner before the league, but I assume they did so before of them being unlimited and being for the best moves in the game. Except Thunderbolt, that one's available before the post-game.
>>
>>732302797
I was fucking infuriated because ice beam was critical for my coverage against dragon type, but the game makes you fight a dragon type gym and 2 final bosses with dragon types before you could get it.
>>
>>
>>732302351
gen 5 was fucking obnoxious to play, the gym leaders would litetally come to hold your hand to ship you off to the next one. the game was TERRIFIED of the idea of you exploring.
it really is the game that started it all.

It was a consequence of the change to xp calculation. In early gens xp is flat, in gen 5 it's scaled based on level difference (and also the whole equation is scaled up by 40%).
So they changed the XP equation then changed all the levels to compensate. Probably went too far
