switch quick fix/update guide
>update hekate (ctcaer github, update the payload as well)
>update atmos (atmosphere-nx github, update fusee too if you boot with it)
>download fw (thzoria github (latest is fine but 18.1.0 or 20.5.0 is preferable))
>update fw using daybreak (incuded in atmos(choose fat32+exfat))
>update sys-patch or sigpatches (gbatemp sys-patch/sigpatches latest update)
>download gaems from nxbrew.net, nswtl.info or google game name + nsp
>patch newer fw gaems with SAK (dezem github (get your keys with lockpick RCM from here: https://files.catbox.moe/7axgk3.bin))
>install gaems using DBI over MTP (latest version may have brick code, get English v658 here: https://files.catbox.moe/axt8t1.nro)
>install picross

Solder is my body and flux is my blood
I have chipped over a thousand PS1s
Unknown to Sony nor known to /hbg/
Have withstood shame to create many bricks
Yet, those external drives will never hold anything

Homebrew PS2 issue: I believe I am at the point where this isn't a hardware issue anymore. Whenever I try to launch a game from Open PS2 Loader (loading from an internal HDD), the screen goes black for a solid minute, I hear the PS2 "jingle" sound, then the screen turns white. The only thing I can think of is that the games are in iso archive format. Is that format okay? Or does it need to be in just an iso format?

This is the most frustrating console mod i've had to do by far, there are so muny outdated instructions it made my head spin for multiple days. I had to delete the old config files for OPL, reboot the console, then relaunch OPL and set the appropriate settings. I figured it had to be something stupid.

still using tinfoil to install updates since shops still work for me
when i click install on an update
it will load like it's about to download but nothing starts/happens
then the menu disappears after a minute
and the queue will mark it as downloaded
even though nothing happened
any reason why?

just do what other anons do and use the telegram bot or whatever sites are still live. there's an anon that also says he's had success just goggling the game name + nsp.
pretty much every shop ends up imploding because of retard drama.
>>
>>555111336
>pretty much every shop ends up imploding because of retard drama.
the shop ecosystem remnant of "JITS", which in reality was just ran by one guy named "Archbox", who was the one running like 12 different shops automatically by cloning his private one "tits" to others (they didn't succesfully clone the security measures, which resulted in getting their google tokens yoinked and then purged / ninty alerted)
those ones are gone, permanently.
the "other ones" never really existed outside of hispanic scene and random aisian countries like philipines.
there's the "ghost" one, which was ran by some random teenager, who obviously tried making a profit, im not sure if he's still around, but ninty was on his ass last i checked.
i hacked into ghost's backend/cdn a few times to get games i hadn't obtained yet in the past.

Decided to revisit vita modding, but confused about a few things. For games that are being modded with Repatch/NoDRM, in conjunction with the extraction method from NPS Browser, Should the contents in the addcont/patch folder be in the root, or added to to the readdcont/repatch folder before refreshing the Live Area in vitashell?
For Example, I've Installed the translation patch for Uppers, but I'm also trying to get the DLC to work and haven't been successful. At some point It did, but I think after I did a refresh of both the live area and licenses, it stopped working.

Just pulled my N3DS XL out of storage, works great but the case is all battered and scratched. I want to get at least replacement outside panels and maybe swap out the inside as well. Does anyone make metal cases for these things? If not, are there any interesting case designs? I really like the look of the SNES version but I'm not buying a new console just for the case. I'm thinking about upgrading the TN screens too if possible. Any other hardware mods I should consider? I've already got the psp nub on the c stick.

can anyone explain why my ps2 has weird screen filling problems?
i load ps2 loader and it fully fills a 16:9 screen but when its in the ps2 browser or in game it's in a little square and doesnt touch the top and bottom edges.

I just got a Wii, what are the best resources to find the best emulators and homebrews to put on it? I've only messed around with the USB Loader GX, but I'm still confused how the virtual console works and also how the standalone emulators work. Should I just use the RetroArch-Hexaeco Emulators? I can't find any newer stuff after 2023 on this topic.

you can get them on aliexpress, the chink 3ds shells are good quality unlike the psps/ds makes me wonder if theyre made in the same factory as the originals. just had a look didnt see any snes ones but they definitely sell them ive seen them before might need to search a bit. they have them on alibaba but its a minimum order of 5 https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/For-3DS-XL-Shell-Replacement-Ho using_62219350213.html could always order 5 lots and keep them or put them on ebay idk

SciresM has announced his plans for retirement.
>Hey, all --
>I wanted to let you know that I'm planning on retiring from work in the public hacking scene.
>Atmosphere (and my work on the Switch) have been an enormous labor of love for me for the past eight and a half years, and it's been an honor for me to dedicate so much of my life towards this kind of work.
>That said, I am getting older. I find myself with less time to dedicate towards it, more responsibilities, and a changing personal life.
>Particularly with my hoping to have kids in a foreseeable time horizon, I'm thinking I have to re-evaluate how much time I can spend on hobby projects.
>I have the kind of personality that doesn't want to put in only a little work; I think that less-than-a-full retirement would likely lead to no actual changes in the time I put in.
>I've truly appreciated getting to work with so many talented people (many of whom have been close friends for so many years), and I appreciate everyone's understanding as I try to transition to the next phase of my life.

Hey, all --
I wanted to let you know that I'm planning on retiring from work in the public hacking scene.
With all my love,
SciresM

Man feels like Michael was just the new kid on the block, he got into all this from getting in with the project pokemon old guard and with 9.2 3DS having entry point to genning pokemon on 3DS and then we had the golden years of 3DS CFW and then Switch being BTFO with the rcm exploit
Still nothing from fail0verflow about switch 2 maybe it's gonna take gen 10 pokemon coming out to get someone to step up and hack switch 2

All major Switch games are out, the last one, Metroid Prime 4 is supported, homebrew works, overclocking setups are available.
Don't really see much issue with Sciri retiring.
So yeah, just don't update, Redditors.

So bad news; Atmosphere is truly over with 21.2.0 being the last supported firmware. Do NOT go above this.
Good news: there's slim to no reason to do so. Everything just werks on 20.5 and below, if you use NSO apps they never get updated to require higher firmware, third parties are like 8 firmwares behind so shit like Arcade Archives and Ys Calceta and whatever shit indie port comes out should work without a hitch and there's only 2 notable first party games on the horizon; Trannydachi Life and Rhythm Heaven, which would be easier to just backport than wait for another autist to take the mantle and continue with Atmosphere. After those two games are out you can just kick back and play your backlog of hoarded NSPs + homebrew and emulators. I know will continue mooching off NSO apps and playing PS1 games on my Switch like nobody's business for the foreseeable comfy future.

nintendo themselves said very much the opposite of that, case in point switch 2 only got 3 games so far while everything else is for both. Even third parties are still on both, understandbly so as they don't want to give up that 160+million userbase

Now that Sciresm is out, I don't believe the "Pokémon Gen 10 will boost Switch 2 hack".
And even if it gets hacked, it'll be some corny SXOS pirate corp pay to pirate bullshit.
IT'S OVER but thank god next Switch update kills that Smash Ultimate slider latency mod online.

i guess it's more of an outlier than anything but based chinks did shit on vita too with no paywalls or anything, if anything they were constantly one upping thefag0 and urging him to release his shit instead of hoarding it to make people beg on twitter

I haven't worked on my switch in a long while, since I'm on FW 18.1.0 and Atmosphere 1.7.1 and the latter isn't being worked on what's the highest that I should update to? All I know is that FW 21.0.0 broke a lot of stuff.
>>

>FW 21.0.0 broke a lot of stuff
someone clarify what i recently failed at a pico install, but had to update so the switch would recognise my sd card, im on whatever the latest firmware was a couple weeks ago, i need one of those new yellow FPC cables as i had one of those shit black ones, i might be able to use some wires if i can find some small enough.

>They reverse engineered the fucking cartridge reader of 3DS and Switch.
Which is really impressive. Even with wack0's leaks trying to make heads or tails of the 3DS cart protocol is difficult. Can't imagine doing that shit without docs and having to decap the chips and stare at transistors.
>>
>>555364379
The MIG Switch even if it's seemingly pretty easily detectable for Nintendo to ban you is legitimately impressive tech. Don't know how the fuck they figured all that out. They always have the gayest pay walls though like SXOS.

For the base game, maybe but for the update, sadly no. I tested it and ran into a game that got stuck on a black screen after updating meaning insufficient firmware. It worked fine when I installed just the base game.

You can still use a decent amount of what has already been made. Unfortunately, the Switch homebrew scene has been on life support for years. Scires and like three other devs were the only ones keeping it semi-alive. A majority of the devs left long ago. The early political tranny drama took its toll too.
The days of homebrew scenes like PSP is long over. I guess zoomers aren't interested beyond consuming what others produce?

I'm aware of stuff like the patcher (which works fine), but I meant INSTANTLY fixing everything with Atmosphere. Just give me a "this enables the piracy" pack that has Atmosphere, Sigpatches, and FW in it.
Also the problem randomly fixed itself with a reboot, go figure.
>>
>>
>>
>>555532096
I'd personally prefer a "it just werks" approach to everything. Hell make the file copying a once in a lifetime thing. If you have your Switch set up to connect to the internet (but block Nintendo's shit), it should do it on boot.
>hey there's a new FW, and Scrotum (RIP) made Atmosphere compatible with it. Do you want to update?
>Yes/No
>pick yes
>system fetches the FW for you, the latest Atmosphere, the latest Sigpatches, and updates any homebrew apps for you, all with one button press
AIO is close, but it doesn't have sigpatches and requires you to go into it and press shit. I want ZERO interaction with instant updates.
>>
>>555532330
HATS is basically what you're asking for, but it's so full of bloat you'll almost certainly run into more problems than fixes in the longrun.
Nothing "just werks" better than when you know exactly what you've put on your system.
>>
>>555528419
In the Wii U era they were pretty consistent, now they are all over the place.
>Xenoblade 2 has plenty of fan service and panty shots and is switch exclusive
>Pyra and Mithra get add to Smash on switch
>their outfits get censored
I guess it's because of the ESRB but I still kind of doubt it.
>>
>>555533767
It's specifically because of CERO, not ESRB or PEGI. CERO is particularly anal with a "no pantyshots" clause being added in recent years. It's why Melee had no issue with it, but Ultimate got fucked. Sakurai talked about it in a blog post, and how he wanted Smash to keep that sweet CERO A rating.
>>
>>
>>555534601
That explanation is ONLY for Smash. The other shit like how XC3 toned it down compared to XC2, despite keeping SAITOM on board as the lead artist (the creator of Pyra/Mythra/Nia), was purely a self-censorship stunt. SAITOM talked about it once and basically said Nintendo told him to do a more "grounded" design for XC3 instead of green glowing lines and big boobs.

I don't buy it, just think for a second
if you've been to reswitched lately youd find scrotum mostly engaging in random banter and non switch topics like C++ gayness, except when a new update that breaks atmos is released which hasn't been happening all that often
Clearly he enjoys being there is my point
I get not wanting to work on atmosphere anymore but the mofo went on about passing the server to someone else, added "(retired)" to his user name (who the fuck even does that) and then radio silence
This is textbook gag order behavior, he struck a deal with Nintendo and is trying waaaay to hard to hide it.
having kids doesn't take every living second of your life, any sane person understands that
what I struggle to understand is how nintendo STILL doesn't get the streisand effect
the way atmos reimplements shit is cool and all for kickass homobrews but is useless for piracy, way easier to go back to the old patching the ofw days
Case in point: mig team began sending their private cfw to testers, hoping to have it ready when 22.0.0 drops
there're also talks about adding native support for a new set of shops (totally not owned by them because piracy bad wink wink) which should make pirating on switch1 a breeze
so thanks michael and nintendo i guess, for killing the already dying homebrew scene for good and breathing new life to piracy on a console ppl were starting to forget about

yeah, just stop updating. I had been on 18.0.0 cfw for so long. Wanting to try Metroid and Mario Galaxy 2 was stupid, since I had to got to 20.0.5fw. it broke so much, and took a long time to get most of the modules working again. I don't get why Nintendo hasn't gotten a clue with the switch 2 and bumped the switch emulation up to the equivalent overclocked switch with 1200mhz CPU and 2000mhz ram at least. Why would anyone want to play switch games on that thing if it's as bad as stock? got derailed there! haha

No he's not
A well adjusted person knows life is all about balance and wouldn't do this everything or nothing kind of shit. Go ask any expert, this is emotional immaturity through and through, the kind that will make you resentful and a shit father by extension.
If he was spending say, 5 hours a day on hobbies, he could just cut that to 2 hours or so. He doesn't even HAVE kids yet for fucks sake, is he planning on raw dogging his wife every waking hour until she's pregnant? Because that's not how it works at all.

Anyone know what i've fucked up with android on switch here?
I'm using the latest lineageOS but my analog sticks have an inexplicable issue where they seem to stutter and freeze if there's not constantly changing inputs webm related.
The guide made me dump the joycon data at some point but it never had me do anything with those files so maybe I was supposed to load them up? Maybe there's just something wrong with the latest build and i just have to wait for a fix. It also does it in games, not just the stick mouse thing.

this anon knows. I had the same idea, Nintendo has gotten to him. either he's sued and it's a gag order, or he is now working for Nintendo. I wouldn't put it past Nintendo to do both. and kids are only high maintenance in the first 18 months max. Then it's just getting them out of diapers and using a toilet. I lucked out and my two kids slept through the night from the beginning. only exceptions were if the picked up a cold or similar that kept them up.

make sure you overclock it. 2ghz CPU 2ghz ram. it's been a few months since I last checked into my Linux/Lineage triple boot. The app is "Switch Configuration App" to enable the overclock settings. both android and Linux can run shitty on Nintendo's stock settings. I'm positive this corrected my install
>>
>>555698698
Oh it does run like shit but that wasn't the problem. It's not lagging, the analog sticks are basically only moving if the stick has been adjusted in the last second. So constant movement produces smooth motion.
It seems plugging in my other set of joycons then plugging the good ones back in made it stop doing that until a system brought the behaviour back. Tthe right joycon had reverse deadzones like i have to push really hard to get the maximum speed from the edges of the stick's movement area and there was other bizarre issues besides the controls so i'm just gonna give up on android.

Switch 2 may have thrown off the schedule, but generally there is a new firmware every Feb/Mar and Sep/Oct.
So everything shown at the next Direct is probably going to get fucked over if there's no Atmosphere update in a few weeks.

Like, I said I wasn't going to do Switch 2 stuff, and then last week I put in literally 80 hours of S2 research time...it's just way too much time at this point in my life.

>80 hours a week
i don't spend that much time playing videogames, let alone on productive hobbies and/or work related shit, how the hell do you do that? Do you have some time management trick?Do you not cook, clean, run errands, commute, etc etc?
>>
>>555750145
To be clear, 80 hours is much higher than normal. There was a stretch of many years where it was consistently 40-50, though.
It mostly boils down to "I don't sleep very much", for most of the past year I've gone to sleep at around 2 am and gotten up at like 6-6:30. I used to sleep less, back in the 2015-2020 era when I was younger!
Besides that, I'm working from home, and completing all my work takes well under 40 hours.
In a typical week I go to the gym to work out monday/wednesday/friday...I have dinner with family/friends a couple nights a week? I very rarely cook (I only do a couple things well), and prefer to handle the clean-up. I do a lot of the household chores since my wife does have a commute, but they just don't take that much time in an objective sense? Like, I do our laundry on Sundays but that takes like 30 minutes of my time a week, tops.
>>
>>
>>555733772
Then why not deal with what makes you obsess in the first place and learn moderation?
Ditching something you supposedly like to do like this only leads to regrets later on and that's not just my opinion, it's a well known psychological effect. You may very well end up hating your wife and kids for that.
>>
>>555767194
I mean, I think that's a good long term aim, and maybe in a while I'll decide it's time for hacking work in moderation, or something.
I'm not worried about resenting my wife or kids, I'll still find hobby stuff to do, I just think I need it to less all-consuming and smaller in scope. I'm probably going to have a lot of fun sinking a bunch hours into mewgenics in a few weeks, and maybe I'll make some mods for it or reverse engineer it to scratch the itch, if I feel like it and don't think it'll be all-consuming like the hacking work has been.
I get where you're coming from, but I know myself and my auts, and I think I'm making a good call for myself on net.

>>
>>555535258
To be fair, this is probably because XC3's story was trying to be a lot more grounded, serious and somber compared to XC2. It's a story where the basic setting is child soldiers getting forced to kill each other in a meaningless war and then get ceremoniously offed when they reach a certain age, so the sexier designs would feel more out of place, meanwhile XC2 is a shounen adventure story. No one ever wants to accept this could be a reason though and would rather cry about self-censorship since something reasonable doesn't really fit their agenda. Especially since fanservice still exists in XC3, it's just the designs themselves that were toned down.

You do you man
I couldnt care less about atmosphere, my kid lost interest in switch a couple years ago and it's been gathering dust in firm 17 or 18. You seem to push updates to it obsessively fast, why not reduce that to whenever you feel like it instead?
If atmosphere is causing you distress or you don't like working on it anymore, by all means cut it from your life, but if you legit still enjoy it then you're gaslighting yourself. Same applies to reswitched or whatever shit you had been doing as well.
Going from putting 80 hours into a hobby like you said to planning a life with kids requires care, a lot of it really.
I've been where you are now, different set of interests but overall same situation and i strongly suggest you seek counseling before having kids. You think you are in control and have good intentions but you honestly don't seem to be in a good head space.

kinda, i mean it's "limited on the games it can play" both for the hardware (don't go in expecting actual beefy PC performance, you'll run most games at 720p with everything on mid) and software as it runs linux. If you buy the games stuff should work just as well, but pirating might need some tinkering with
Otherwise you can put windows on it, but that also requires some tinkering as the hardware is not built with windows in mind
>>
>>555780774
>limited on the games it can play
In what way? Performance, or not being to play X at all?
FWIW, I've been playing the PC version of FF7Remake at 45 FPS with dips when it gets VERY particle-y / the game loads a bunch of guff. I just had to add some performance mods (that are also used in normal PCs because Squeenix is shit at ports lmao), and lower the graphics (which I don't mind on the smaller screen). I've also seen videos of Rebirth running at 30FPS, but I haven't tried it out myself yet and don't know what fiddling it needs to be stable.
Monster Hunter Rise runs at a steady 60FPS, even with the graphics settings at medium-ish.
What little emulation I did was also fine. >Pokémon Colosseum only had an issue with randomly changing aspect ratio, but that was emulator jank and there's a shortcut to "fix" it, I think it was Select + right arrow, or something like that.
For Switch games:
>Tried out a bit of Smash Ultimate, Animal Crossing and Dragon Quest Builders, and they run fine
>Zelda TotK has some shader cache stuttering but it still runs better than on the OG Switch
>Pokemon Scarlet/Violet have FPS dips, but it's better than on OG Switch
>Pokemon ZA runs better than SV, but I had times where the graphics got fucked by vertex explosions (although that was an emulator issue, and from what I've seen, recent updates made that less frequent)
>Dragon Quest 1-2 2.5HD Remake (or whatever the fuck word salad it's called) ran like garbage, I think it's because it uses Unreal Engine; also haven't checked with recent updates yet
>Sonic Racing CrossWorlds also had frame issues, but I haven't tried it recently
As for piracy, you just need to look up how to install stuff on Linux. I installed the GoG version of Dead Cells just fine, but had to fiddle a bit to install the DLCs/updates, so I guess that piracy will be similar. Basically you have to find the folders that Lutris (or whatever you use) makes to pretend it's a Windows install, and then you go from there.

I have a legit 3DS with saves and digital downloads from the eshop that I want to hack. I read the guide back and forth and looked up testimonials on other sites but I just want to be sure Nintendo can't do shit about my NNID or the Nintendo account its linked to. I really want to backup my saves and dump my cartridges before they rot. I also want to keep using Pokemon Bank while its still working. Is there really no way way you can get a ban from anything if you hack a 3DS?
>>
>>555780774
>>555801546 (me)
I also saw people saying that it can handle PS3 emulation, but performance depends on the specific game. Some run with no issues, others are felted.
Basically, just keep in mind that the Deck is a slightly less powerful Switch 2, so you shouldn't expect desktop performance on AAA slop or more demanding emulation. Even for the games that run fine you'll have to compromise with lower graphics unless they're 2D stuff or older 3D games.
>>
>>555801709
From what I remember, 3DS bans only happened if people used obvious cheats online, or when retards thought it was a good idea to go online with Pokemon games when they leaked a week or so early.
That said, even if you manage to get your 3DS banned, there's a way to unban it kek

How's PSP emulation on PS3? The PSP remake of Tales of Phantasia is finally translated, and I was considering playing it on my PS3 and CRT. but I am unsure if the 60 FPS hack works on actual hardware as the tutorial video posted about the game by the translation team used PPSSPP.

no you're right, I meant playing on my PC via PPSSPP instead of streaming my vita to my PC, because as far as I know that's the only means of outputting video on the actual handheld. seems like the CRT is off the table entirely, which is a bummer but gives me something to play in bed.
>>
>>
>>
>>555878808
I do own a cheap one, used it to capture PS2 video to my elgato before I had gotten an analog capture card and my CRT, but my GPU only has the one HDMI port and my 2nd monitor is pretty old and doesn't support DP. I plan on upgrading this monitor eventually then I could probably run that HDMI to my CRT via the convertor and see what it looks like, but that's not gonna be any time soon.
>>
>>555879412
Well if the issue is a lack of HDMI ports you might have other options. Without spending It looks like the xboxs can all run ppsspp which might be better on compatibility if you have one of those. Also you could try CRT shaders with ppsspp.
with spending you could get an HDMI splitter and run the TV as a duplicate of your second monitor. If your phone has video out you could also get a cable for that and plug it into the convertor and run ppsspp on the phone.

I’m sorry if a bit off-topic but since I’m using this to salvage the issue:
My father bought a new TV. Is there any issue or configuration that must be done for it to recognize the Nintendo Switch? Cause when I connect it to the dock it just says there is a low/weak signal.
But when the controllers are on the switch, it recognizes the nintendo switch without issue. And since it’s hacked I’ve been using the Atmosphere thing to play with a PS4 Controller instead
But I intend to play a Zelda TOTK, which is original catridge and I don’t think that will be an option.
So does anyone know what causes a TV to not connect to the Switch without its controllers and how to fix it?

you think wrong, you can do that just fine
>>
>>
>>
>>555946612
Huhhh like you know when I turn Switch completely off and when I turn it on and it can be the normal Switch menu I was previously using with the games I paid for like Blaster Master Zero and when I turn on I can select Atmosphere to a different menu with cia games and the option to hold L when selecting the gallery to open a specific menu for extra things like the option to make Switch recognize PS4 controllers?
I’m asking if I do the former, and open something like Blaster Master, it could run a PS4 controller in spite of not being in the latter mode. And it there would be problems in doing so if possible. And if I play an official online game with those things it could brock me or get me banned
>>
>>555947120
write down specifically what you do when you want to go into either mode, do you even use hekate to begin with?
just to point it out, as the other anon said there's stock (sysnand) and sysnand cfw. The former is where no hacky stuff is enabled and it's the mode you go online with, the latter is still the mode you go online with but you can enable the hacky stuff if you want. So yes, you can use different controllers (i'm assuming you're using mission control for that, or sys-con) if you do that, and it's generally safe (though i wouldn't do it for online games).
What you must avoid is installing pirated games on the sysnand, either stock or cfw (though you can't on stock so that's not an issue, but you can on cfw), as pirated games is the thing that for sure will get you banned. They won't "brick" you though, as in make your system not work
>>
>>
>>555947658
Okay so what I meant is if the MissionControl from Hekate will remain active at Stock Sysnand and I would be able to play with the PS4 controllers the games I had already installed before I instealled the CFW Sysnand.
>>
>>555948614
nta but stock sysnand will not load mission control, as it's atmosphere that does that, not hekate. You can boot sysnand with cfw (atmos) enabled, and this will allow you to use mission control and thereby ps4 controllers
>>
>>
>>
>>555949175
>then recognize the catridge or other official games I had installed previously so I can play them using the PS4 controller?
there's no "recognizing" thing going on, cfw can do both games you buy and games you pirate
would be clearer if you would write what do you do exactly when you power on the switch and want to either play games you bought or games you pirated, so that we can tell you what is what and which is which
>>
>>555949974
There is nothing to it. I just power on, the switch then makes me choose between the two modes, the original and the CFW one. If I pick the former it shows my original games, if I pick the latter they don't show up but the pirated ones do.
The way you talk it sounds like in your case the second option would show both pirated and the original ones?
>>
>>555950881
>I just power on, the switch then makes me choose between the two modes
idk then, if it's exactly as you say then it sounds like some customized setup. Did you have the hack done by someone else?
>The way you talk it sounds like in your case the second option would show both pirated and the original ones?
it's a bit more complicated than that, the games each one shows are the ones you install in them but my point is that, for example, were you to put the zelda cartridge on the cfw option it would still show up and it would still play just fine (though i think you won't have the saves you have on the other option, if i got your setup right)
>>
>>555951297
>Did you have the hack done by someone else?
Yes, a friend took it to some guy to hack it for us
>the games each one shows are the ones you install in them but my point is that, for example, were you to put the zelda cartridge on the cfw option it would still show up and it would still play just fine (though i think you won't have the saves you have on the other option, if i got your setup right)
Alright then I guess that's the issue then. My setup is customized to be this weird, safe, mutually exclusive way.

By the way I have tried a few things and learned if I boot the switch with the controllers in the dock, I can remove the controllers and the connection with the TV remains unstable. So while it's a tiring procedure I'll have to keep repeating, my issue has been fixed.
Not sure why my TV can't recongize it if it isn't with the controllers on the startup though.

>>
>>
>>555951684
if you're willing to look into it you can likely change it to a normal setup by just moving the files in the sdcard inside the switch. You can try safely with a new sd card (cause again, all the hacks and settings are on the sdcard, there's nothing about it on the switch itself) and just following the guides in op, it all boils down to "download this > copy it to the sd card" and you'll have a similar thing where you boot up and can choose what to have, except you can also choose cfw sysnand (so the one you can go online with, but also have the hacks enabled)
>>
>>

For a n3DS XL, what's the "max" size SD card recommended? I can't recall if 256 or 512 leads to slowdowns. Also, only my top screen is IPS, does anyone do mods for the bottom screen anymore or is it just not worth it?

Android handhelds are a lot cheaper than PC handhelds but came compatibility is worse.
I've seen people playing PC games on the odin 3 which is cool but every video I see of it the dude is like "look at these smooth framerates" and the game judders like all hell while the FPS counter sits at 60 so it seems half baked.
>>
>>
>>555977016
>the lag would basically be nonexistent
Nah streaming on the switch is laggy as fuck.
The latency statistics are basically lying. they're telling me i'm looking at 7ms latency tops but I used my phone in 120fps mode and counted the frames and one shot it was 9 frames (75ms) of lag and another it was 11 frames (91ms). Streaming to my android tablet it was between 2 and 4 frames difference. This is just the lag between the display output on my computer and the display output on the switch so controller latency would add to this.
I was able to get much better latency on android for switch through apollo, but even with the overclock the frame consistency went way down because I think the switch was struggling to play 60fps video through the android bloat and i also had controller issues.
I trying playing halo. The FPS parts were doable, but accurate weapons like the BR were harder and sniping anything that was moving was basically impossible. The vehicle sections were very playable though so i imagine 3rd person games would be tolerable depending on your tolerance for lag.

When I try to decrypt cia files the 3dsconverters bat tells me they already decrypted. When I compress them to zcia in the bat they are almost identical in size and Azahar errors out. I wouldn't want to download my whole rom collection but is there a way to decrypt and compress?

Alright, so a couple of stupid questions:
Do I need to also downgrade Atmosphere when downgrading FW? Why 18.1.0 and 20.5.0 specifically? and I'm guessing stock needs to be updated to be able to get the keys.

Stick with the latest atmospheres.
Firmwares don't really matter. Stay on 18.X if you're really deep in homebrew, mods, overclocking etc.
Update to 21.X if you just want games. I would say 22.0 since that's due imminently but we don't know how post-Scrotum Atmosphere will look just yet.

Nothing crazy. Was thinking on custom game icons which apparently can't be done on FW 20.X but wanted to know why 18.X instead of 19.X. Of course, it wouldn't be worth the hassle to do all that for game icons if I have to reinstall game updates that require 20.X.

this is probably answered before and it's gonna sound retardedbecause I ambut why do hacked switches need to update to run newer games if we already have kernel access? couldn't we just bypass the requirement or something?

I got it out and swapped the nub. Thank you. If I need to open the console in the future, I'll look into the rubber band method, or into other tools. The bottom screen is getting really yellow, so I suspect that'll be a future repair.

You can patch games to use them on lower firmware using Switch Army Knife
>retroarch
I'd recommend standalone emulators, but that's another story. Either way RA should be updated for the latest atmos, and if not even the old versions should still work.

anything up to 64/ps1 runs great
gc and wii are kinda doable but I wouldn't rely on them working as intended
ps2 and beyond is a big nope
>lite
I'd recommend getting a pair of TMR or hall effect joysticks to replace the default ones, as they will drift

Anyone know what might have happened? I opened Checkpoint accidentally, and I immediately pressed home but it appeared frozen. So I rebooted with rosalina menu and now I see all my software wrapped. And Anemone themes aren't active. I hope I didn't lose anything. But they are disorganized now too.

I plays the sonic adventure 2 on the switch up until it made me play as knuckles and made me realise "hey this is just sonic 06 but the controls are somehow worse".
It ran pretty well though, i think i used flycast.

After installing many pkg files on my PS4 I just started wondering has there ever been an instance where someone has specifically targeted PS4s for hacks or bricking? I don't imagine so unless it's specifically for someone they don't like just because there's probably next to nothing you could get off of that that would be valuable unless you can go the ransomware route. I did a quick little look up but it seems like most things are just hearsay that people mention not anything concrete.

same here, although apparently the supposed hax will work on 20.5, so we could have gotten a few extra games if we updated. Idk about you but I only have botw, mkw and welcome tour
