Anyway, the original Blackwell one is ok, but has a large number of problems. The idea that Chloe and Max would be annotating 2 books (well, closer to one, since they really gave up on the Arcadia Bay part) during their week together was already pretty silly and I think would only work if the book were set in an AU where Max never left the bay.
Reunion seems to be set across 3 days or so. Why would they be annotating a book about the university in that limited amount of time together?

A smarter way to do this concept imo would be to have done a photo-album/travel-diary Chloe and Max put together in the years they spent traveling together following LiS 2.
You could tell a real narrative that way, explore something we have only seen hints of before and it would make sense why Chloe/Max have written all over it.
But since the guy who made the first one never played the game and only read the wiki, I guess something interesting would be too much to ask for.

So, I finished LiS2 today, this game is fucking good. I'm actually kind of mad I didn't play it earlier. I wasn't interested in a brothers road trip story and assumed that wrangling Daniel would be a huge pain in the ass, but it works really well. Combined with the complaining from players, I decided to skip it. Those players are fucking idiots.

The dialog is less clunky than the first game, but it still maintains a lot of the same charm. I ended up liking Sean and Daniel, it was cool seeing how they developed over the course of their journey. They were both kind of shitheads at times, but the way that they genuinely cared about each other was nice to see. Biggest complaint is I wish we had more time with certain characters. I think that's where the first game has an edge. LiS2 does a good job of making you like characters while they're around, I just think seeing new sides of characters as the story advances from episode 1 to episode 5 is a little more rewarding.

I agree with >>555426739 on the rankings of the games in the series. The power gap between the DN and D9 games is staggering.
