I have an announcement!
I realised that waiting for NISA and the ratings board to un-shit their own pants was a losing endeavour. I could be waiting weeks for a decision that never comes. Towa wouldn't sit around waiting for a rescue (okay aside from the time she did just that in Cold Steel 4, ANYWAY..), she'd be proactive and solve her issues herself.
So I decided to just jump through a few hoops, make a few accounts, transfer a little currency and now I'm downloading Trails beyond the Horizon.

So an artist called Renatus.Z submitted an OC called Renatus to Pixiv Fantasia, and Leva’s original designer, Infukun/ZAGALA, lifted her design from this Renatus character. Then, apparently, the artist Renatus.Z went on to draw some art for Girls’ Frontline as well. Though I don’t think it’s official. Here’s one such image. I find that kinda cool, he created an OC which inspired another OC then he drew fanart of that second OC he inspired. Shame neither Renatus.Z nor Infukun work on GFL anymore. But still a cool piece of lore I think

Daybreak 1 has a good story but the gameplay is MANY steps back from Cold Steel/Reverie.
Daybreak 2 improves the gameplay again but the story is, well....

I mean, you can't really run from her, she just warps right up into the enemy's face if they're out of range. That's how it works in gameplay too, her charged attacks make her teleport to the enemy if they're out of range, both when she uses the scythe or the claws and that move has no cooldown. Used to be pretty handy against one annoying boss.
Alternatively she'd just yoink you with the claws if she wouldn't feel like moving much, that works too.

BO3 is good too and has great mod support. There’s an overhaul mod that lets you play as GFL characters, including Leva. I also personally found the campaign kinda charming. The zombies were alright.
I highly recommend IW. The first map, Zombies in Spaceland, is so fun and looks great. The map itself is extremely simple too, it reminds me a lot of Kino der Toten. The DLC maps aren’t as great unfortunately.
People also say the campaign of IW is pretty good too. It was a bit melodramatic, had a lame villain, and the characters felt like they come straight out of a police drama, but it was still a half-decent campaign. The dogfighting is surprisingly fun.
I’d say get it on sale and play Zombies in Spaceland then give the campaign a try. Don’t bother with the DLCs.

I remember I had a phase where I basically worshipped Menendez as one of the greatest vidya villains ever. The multiplayer was great too. The zombies was okay, I guess. Have any interactions with waifu genuinely surprised you?
Towa's first scene in Horizon is actually pretty interesting. You run across her in a cafe while doing the rounds around the city and she's chatting away with her friends, completely engaged in giving relationship advice and doesn't even notice that Van and his crew are standing right there.
I guess she gets her proper introduction later but it's funny that the game just pretends she's a random town NPC for a bit.

I mentioned this awhile ago, but the Crew Deck expansion added a series of interactions with each of the Dolls, and in Leva’s interactions she gets you to play a story centered game with her, then reveals she was the one who developed it because she was curious what’d you do in the game’s story. I tried to play Fork Knife again recently and it still doesn't feel good to play. The shooting feels weightless and the menus are designed purely to confuse the player to accidentally buy something.
