Genuinely got spooked hard. Having a fast monster that can see through doors and that you and can pick up on sounds easily keeps the whole thing tense. Inching forward while trying to identify if the sound you're hearing is her heavy breathing/shuffling or just a harmless patient or ambience is stressful in a good way. It solves the common issue with experience leading to the monster having lessened impact because you can accurately gauge when you're at risk of being ooga boogah by having her path and able to open doors. So you can check a hallway to see if it's clear, then turn around 10 seconds later to see her beelining toward you if there is a door there. I also noticed that if you lose her by hiding in a locker, sometimes instead of just walking away, she'll sometimes walk a half-screen distance away and then quickly turn around for a brief moment before going back to her regular routine.
You can tell this motherfucker loves horror movies and games.

Because games are much more content rich and difficult to create than a book.
Any wagie with 10 minutes of spare time a day can write a book, have it published for peanuts, and sell zero copies. Happens all the time. There's not much risk involved. Countless books have been written with negative financial return.
On the other hand, a game actually takes significant work to create and that means a big time and skill investment, which means it has to offset that cost with revenue. In other words, it IS a matter of logistics. Where to put resources isn't something to think about when you're writing for fanfiction.net, but when you're writing for something that'd cost seven figures USD to make professionally, it matters a hell of a lot.

You're misunderstanding what I mean by logistics. I'm talking about the notion that writing is a matter of allocating enough resources until it gets good, the resources being words or playtime. Neither of these are factors for good writing, yet this is how some people, particularly multi-heroine devs, plan their scripts. It's artificial and leads to bad outcomes such as obligatory padding that forces every girl have a similar amount of content. It's writing to satisfy a quota, and this is completely backwards. If you were writing a story that had a protagonist and 3 other supporting characters, the odds that in the process of telling whatever story you wanted to tell, those 3 characters would naturally get around the same amount of screentime and words allocated to them is just astronomically low. That only happens with intention.
You're talking about writing as a resource itself, as part of making a game. But even then that's not always the case, as the script in these mediums, be they games, anime, or movies, is the first thing to reach completeness, because they exist to realize it. The exception is games where the engine is the focus, and a writing team is later brought in to put a bow on it and give players direction through a main story, which you see a lot of in the AAA space, but these games almost always have terrible writing by virtue of it being decorative.
