What is Dead By Daylight?
Dead By Daylight is an asymmetrical multiplayer (1v4) horror-styled game where one player takes on the role of the Killer and four players take on the role of Survivors. The Survivors' objective is to repair generators in order to power and open exit gates to escape. The Killer's objective is to kill the Survivors.

just finished watching The Thing and i'm not satisfied with this powerset this guy came up with. it seems like he is just a clone of myers/ghost face with a stalk mechanic that gives him smaller terror radius and breaking speeds, very lame
in my opinion, survivors should be infected by a spray projectile like he does to the dog at the beginning of the film, and once somebody is fully infected, he gets to ability to switch between the killer and any infected survivors like the twins. infection goes away either on its own with a long timer, or survivors can use flamethrower props to burn the infection out of them. it feels to me like the main draw of the monster is the gruesome melting he does when you flame him, and not giving survivors flamethrowers makes him seem incomplete

It's the 4th fucking time this is mentioned as fixed on patch notes, they even added tentatively this time.

If your character is cucked by prerunning with sprint burst, they're cucked by prerunning without it, so fearmonger is mediocre. Penti is the only way to make hex builds "work" but they are still shitty inconsistent builds. The survivor ones are trash.

The main thing that makes that kit so good is that it effectively solves all the bitching about SWFs nerfing a shapeshifting killer, parasitic touch keeps everyone guessing and on their toes and forces people to isolate themselves and makes everyone paranoid, and this is without taking into account that most SWFs aren’t 4 man squads either so if even one person is out of communication it really just throws the whole thing out of whack. It could use some tweaks here and there but as far as capturing the essence of The Thing it’s just about the best concept there is.

Hard-tunnel from the start has been the de-facto playstyle for many lately. I believe a lot of it stems from certain content creators, who has dipped their toes into the competitive scene, who makes others believe that it is the ONLY viable strategy to win games, even in public matches.
Now, tunneling has always been present in the game, but in 2022, when patch 6.1.0 dropped, that is when it got taken to a whole new level, since the survivors lost a lot of the counters they had to tunneling. And with the killer powercreep that has been ongoing for a while now, the problems are only getting worse, since it gets much easier to do. This in turn has prompted the survivors to optimize everything fun out of their gameplay, and stick to gens like flies on horse-dung, which has made the survivor gameplay loop incredibly stale.
Also, on the killer side, before 6.1.0, you had perks like the original BBQ, which gave a BP bonus, that also served as an incentive to spread hooks early on, in order to guarantee the bonus.
One counter I have seen is to have teammates with Shoulder the Burden. I escaped a hard-tunnel thanks to a random teammate with StB. The Nemesis player was so angry afterwards.
Other than that, I would say that the only other counters to tunneling would be the usual suspects, like Decisive Strike, Dead Hard and perks that takes away your scratchmarks, and those that makes you silent.
Aura read is a whole other can of worms, and it has only gotten worse and worse with time, with several perks on either side enabling this.
- If you know that the killer has aura perks, you'd use lockers a lot more to block the aura reads.
- If you as a killer knows that the survivors has aura read on you, make sure to never chase them in areas with a lot of LoS blockers.
- Perks like Friends till the End and Alien Instinct is highly problematic, since it often enables tunneling, where the fresh unhooked survivor gets targeted by it.

What was the harm in this? Also they removed the based rock you could land on top of for fun in the newer snow map. It didn't stop the killer from hitting you from the ground at all so why remove something harmlessly fun?

I would like to go against a good Henry and see what I'm missing because every Henry I go against is the easiest killer to dodge in the entire game. When they give up chasing me and go for someone else, it baffles the mind how the other survivors can possibly be getting hit by him. There is a little bit in predicting where he's going to aim, but really, as soon as you hear the audio alert you cannot possibly not react in time to wherever it's going to be. You have to be animation locked for him to get the hit, or you have to be in a narrow passage where he aims in front of you forcing you to go back towards him for an M1. In any other situation, if Henry hits you, it's because you messed up, it's solely on you. That's how it all FEELS VS every Henry I've went against, I would like to see that I'm wrong against a good one.

Launguid Touch is one of the most impactful chase perks in the game and is massively slept on. It's basically guaranteed to stop any Exhaustion perk from ever activating in chase, countered only by Sprint Burst which happens before the chase. Even then it stops 99'd Sprint Bursts from being used in a chase.

when you're attacking through a pallet with enduring, you want to walk into the pallet and then quick attack rather than lunging, because otherwise if the survivor knows what they're doing they might be able to drop the pallet without stunning you, which will make you miss and lose more time than if you got stunned

>it's a survivors prerun your zero mobility killer episode
Genuinely how the fuck can anyone enjoy playing low mobility killers. Undetectable perks don't even really help because most maps are open enough that they can see you coming a mile off anyways, not to mention SWFs calling out your location on comms.
>>
>>556193273
They basically don't exist in the game anymore from the devs' view. New killers are all that matters. They take feedback from shit killers and use the feedback to make new killers rather than fixing the old ones.

Turn your router on and off.
Verify game files.
There’s a folder you can delete called PersistantDownloadDir that’s in your DBD folder in appdata that can fix that. It’ll redownload everything in the folder when you launch the game.
Don’t make GameUserSettings.ini ReadOnly even if that makes changing the config a pain sometimes, that locks me out when I do that.

tunnel pig is absurdly fun once you get an active trap on somebody. i like to use the faster crouch movement speed addon+the survivors only see box auras when the trap is active one. basically the survivor you pick is fucked because following in crouch isn't considered a chase so it'll keep the trap ticking away, and the crouch add on allows you to easily keep up with them if they try to get away/search boxes. what's even better is that the average survivors don't know how to counter this in endgame by just escaping so the trapped person can potentially get hatch.

now that i think about it, mangled is such a well-designed effect
it only rewards you when you spread targets, because slower healing won't do anything if you stop a person from ever healing at all
and by forcing people to spend a longer time healing, that's time they aren't on gens, so it gives killers the extra time they need to win a match without tunneling
it makes me wish vigil didn't exist to ruin it completely

The only changes id give him are this
>Freddyhat is added as an alternative throw so now players can choose between fast orbitals or midrange
>Rework the useless phone addon
>Blindness no longer protects him from camera auras
>>556158654
The main one i want however is this
>Provide him some passive buff over time that resets to 0 when he is camera scanned to incentivise survivors using cameras and doors, Make him immune to camera scan while grabbing/carrying a survivor
The problem with springtrap is the aspect that makes him unique isnt worth doing on the survivors end compared to just slamming gens and hes not strong enough yet to justify giving survivors gen speed after scanning to make up for that time loss.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>556235289
While themeatic, they would have to rework guitar and badge for that and its still not enough of an incentive to cams
>>556234508
Problem with mangled are two things
1) it is percentage based meaning the faster healing is, the weaker mangled is, which is the opposite of a antiheal perk.
2) the timers even without vigil are too short - split and the person will just slam gens. By the time a survivor is unhooked it is already gone. The best anti-heals are gift of pain because it triggers after unhook and rewards splitting by slowing their gen speed a good amount.

It wouldn't be hard to do an experiment and I'm surrpised no streamer has done it yet.
1) Private match, Henry and a survivor
2) Have the survivor stand still
3) Aim vines directly under them as centered as possible, ready to launch
4) Tell them you will attack at a random time, they are NOT ALLOWED to move until they hear the audio cue
5) Wait a random amount of time and then launch
6) Do this many times with many people
7) Everyone involved has to have 20-30ms
8) A survivor must mention right away if they anxiously moved before hearing the audio cue, and dismiss this outcome
Then you tally all of the valid outcomes up, hits and misses.
-If it's about hit50/50miss, that means the attack is reactable but is very tight. This is where you want it to be. Throw in prediction from both Henry and the survivor ino the mix, and you have a good tug-of-war where the better player should prevail.
-If it's about hit80/20miss, Henry really is more skill based and should always be aiming for precise hits beneath the survivors feet, not bothering with predictions, because it's possible but too difficult to react to. If this is how it is, then once a Henry player has reached the skill ceiling, he will be broken and hopeless to play against.
-If it's about hit20/80miss, Henry really is weak and is mostly providing a mini-game for the survivor to play a solo game of. The odd hit he gets will mostly be due to the survivor not reacting in time. Some good prediction from Henry matched against anxious (and literally not necessary in this possible conclusion) pre-dodging from the survivor will be his only way to actually earn hits. Both playing as and against Henry, I feel like this is how it actually is, and would love to see the experiment played out.
>>
>>556246349
The sound comes too late into the attack to simply react to that and dodge, the real tell is him raising his hand, if you dodge slighty after the hand is raised and he lets go of the skill right away you will dodge it if he aims it at your location
>>
>>556246817
This is why no Henry with a clue launches right away, I'm still positive it's entirely reactable to the sound cue because I dodge it from the sound cue alone 80% of the time. >>556158547 This is me for more of my thoughts on it.
>>
>>
>>556246349
>>556247248

Not really, because in a real world game there is more to worry about than time to down one specific person. Like I could crush most survivors as chucky in a 1v1 but then you have to travel the map, you have to not get preran or hid from, you have to drop chases to chase more important people, and you also benefit from other people being forced to leave gens WHILE you're chasing someone and that's not something henry has unless they decide the clock is really important. There's too many factors to test in a standardized way, each match everyone has different perks, different experience, it's on a different map, etc. Even playing a 1v4 with the same people on each killer on coal tower or wherever and zero perks, you won't judge their real strength because different perks in a real match will affect them all very differently.

Aight so i got chucky today since i hear alot of things around this killer and i wanted to do some friends till the end builds, had some spare cash so what the hell. It's like 5 bucks DLC.
What in the genuine fuck is this though? His dash is fucking ASS to control and makes absolute zero sense, it's at a point where i genuinely feel he is a really badly designed killer and wonder why would anyone even play him, shit just feels random as fuck to control.
Was he genuinely always like this or is this an actual consequence of the nerf that he received (i wasnt playing dbd around the time he came out), because if this is in fact a nerf, it's pretty fucking overkill considering we have reworked Myers in the game that can do anything this guy (or any stealth killer in the game rn) can do aswell but ten times better.
What in the actual fuck man, there's a fine line between nerfing and just making the control schemes of a character a complete mindfuckery just to taunt the fuck out of you.
>>
>>556259319
I think his dash always controlled the way it does now, but it used to be a bit faster. Release chucky could scamper under pallets manually (kind of how krasue flies over them) and it became an issue because you could just go under a pallet and immediately start dashing around the loop and it made basedvivors cry and poop themselves so in typical BHVR fashion they took away the manual scamper AND nerfed the dash, but some of the dash nerfs were slowly rolled back over time

I just had a game with a redemption arc in it. it was a nurse game, right away the nurse tunnels out the kate console player at 4 gens. the vittorio gives up and 2's by the hook for the nurse to kill him. but me and felix do not give up. we just keep playing optimally. I got to unhook vittorio, he just stands there, gets hooked again. I unhook him again, he just stands there, gets hooked again. meanwhile these unhooks are at optimal moments and me and felix are still getting the gens done. finally I unhook vittorio one more time and he just stands there again, but nurse is busy chasing felix. after half a minute, he begins healing himself, and begins to play. we get the nurse down to 2 gens, then 1 gen, then somehow, finally, with 1 player tunelled out at 4 gens and one player who didn't start playing until we were at 2 gens, the exit gates are powered, and the nurse is playing to win all the while. a lucky BNP mechanics toolbox and a fog vial well used helped us get this far from my dramaturgy build. now the nurse is face camping her final kill during the EGC. our rescue for felix is botched and I end up on the hook, but that's fine. there's not enough time left for felix and vittorio to heal each other and try for an ideal rescue again. but they do it anyway, and someone drops a flashbang in the chaos that blinds me and hopefully the nurse too. as we're all running away, vittorio goes down, and sacrificed himself for me. so that's vittorio's redemption arc, thanks for reading the story.
