There used to be 2 banners per month, in the beginning TT units weren't even guaranteed, and were randomly dispersed. But soon IS started adding at least 2 freebies per month.
Then they added an extra unit at the end of the month, a legendary. Soon they started adding more than 1 of them per LHB. Then they also started making resplendents, that's more art for the game.
At every point Heroes slowly increased the amount of content it produced.
The cancellation of TT units was the stop of that.
That is why it is the first sign of the death spiral.
If the game was in a good financial position, both Shadows units and TTs would have existed at the same time.

This is what Engagefags struggle to cope with. If people aren't currently supporting Engage, they will never support Engage. Even with maximum recency bias in CYL8 80% of the playerbase didn't vote for it. That's why it's so difficult to rally and why Ivy still loses even with a third of all Engage votes going towards her. Anybody who cares is already voting Engage. The vast majority don't care.
