so from what i gathered, one of the issues is getting a stance mixup on block, even if the mixup isnt that great (like sentai)? so no moves should transition to stance on block?

Sure, but launchers in general tend to be slower or unsafe and same story for strings that combo on normal hit. So a poke that gives a mixup on block that loops into other mixups if your opponent guesses wrong is really oppressive.

Listen here anon, let me break down the absolute state of the Harada Casino (Tekken 8) using a simple playground analogy so your brain doesn't overheat.
Traditional Tekken is Rock, Paper, Scissors. Mid beats ducking, High beats slow buttons, Low beats standing block. You know, actual fighting games.
Tekken 8 introduced the Shotgun.
The Shotgun is a Forced Mixup on Block (like Azucena wr3, Dragunov snk4, Victor stuff).
The Shotgun beats Rock.
The Shotgun beats Paper.
The Shotgun beats Scissors.
When you are minus on block in T8 against a stance transition, you are staring down the barrel. You can’t step (Shotgun has tracking). You can’t jab (Shotgun is frame tight). You can’t block (Shotgun has a chip damage low or a guard break).
So, logically, the devs added the Anti-Gun Ray.
This is your Power Crush, your Rage Art, or a frame-perfect dickjab interrupt.
The Anti-Gun Ray destroys the Shotgun. It is the hard counter.
Here is the mindgame loop that makes T8 a mental asylum:
The Shotgun Option Select: The attacker enters stance on block. This covers 99% of your defensive options (Rock/Paper/Scissors). They win automatically if you play normal Tekken.
The Anti-Gun Ray Read: To survive, you must use the Anti-Gun Ray (Panic Power Crush).
The Ray Weakness: The Anti-Gun Ray loses to literally everything else. If the attacker enters stance but just blocks or sidesteps (waits), and you fire the Anti-Gun Ray? You die.
So the "Game" isn't about spacing or movement anymore. It's: Do I fire the Shotgun? If he thinks I have the Shotgun, will he use the Ray? If I think he's going to use the Ray, I'll just stand here and launch him for -15.

The stance transitions are an issue on block if they give the player transitioning (kek) (plus)+frames on block so that the opponent blocking has to respect (not press any button) against the stance. If you try to mash against the stance at (minus)-frames you have a chance of being Counter Hit which is bad and in some instances leads to more damage or being launched into the air for a juggle combo.
This leads to situations where a character can decide to mix you up between a low or a mid, sometimes a scary low like a hellsweep or a mid that can wall splat and lead to massive damage. They can also decide not to do anything and RESET the situation by doing that +on block move again and again which also sometimes does chip damage. In that scary situation you have options but the mere fact of being put into that shitty situation is enough to feel stressed and is a mental burden.
That's Tekken 8 aggressive style issue, where in Tekken, lows are very scary because they are cheap and you can't backdash or react to them but they are the slowest moves, and many moves come out from stances where you basically have to guess between blocking in the neutral or ducking to block a low or evade a high. The mids will launch you as they are the most dangerous moves, so generally in Tekken you avoid ducking too much.

No because most of the time you don't have the time to visually confirm whether you are on hit or on block for stance transitioning.
All of the FORCED stance transitions are shit, like Steve ones. They are more predictable too. It's the manual stance transitions that are even more of an issue. A player can also cancel the stances.
And sometimes the issue is not even a stance, it's just regular +on block moves that can lead to frame traps. (A frame trap is when you think you can press but nope, you didn't have the advantage and got CH the next move).

Tekken 8 Pros are at a point where they basically have to disrespect the frames sometimes. They have to. They do it all the time. They don't follow textbook frames as much because otherwise that means getting slowly chipped, slowly getting cornered and pressured too much etc.
What is hard is truly knowing WHEN to do so, and in the safest way possible.
Stepping is hard because so many moves are tracking when they shouldn't and many others are too good homing buttons anyway.
Sometimes you have to take the guess because you simply do not have the frames to do anything.
Dickjab (down jab) is a legit strategy in the current Tekken 8 meta yeah. You risk getting parried but that's your risk to regain control of the situation, and getting back your turn to act to avoid a worse scenario.

Nah, team games you can be somewhat carried by others.
There's always a better player that can fill the skill gaps in a team, and the matches are longer, so you can adapt over time.
You are with your own ass in a fighting game, and you have 2-3min to make the correct choices and download your opponent.
This takes years, and when I mean "years" I mean years of tournament and competitive play, not just thousands of hours of online play and lab.
You can be GoD4 online, and then you can be like Hexmark or Jodd, who are still not prepared to beat the tops because mental pressure / not experienced enough in big tournaments etc.

Stance on block is okay if the situation afterwards is interesting and fair
For example Lee hitman. 1+2 into hitman on block is +2, the fastest move comes out equal to your jab (i12), step right block covers all hitman options on immediate timing
But Lee can just delay in which case he's getting mental frames off you, this means you might want to interrupt, and if you want to interrupt then suddenly hitman options matter again. but the most important thing is that even if you guess wrong except for the riskiest move (hms2) the risk reward is usually just eating a poke or a low, that you have good coverage, and to beat your high coverage they need to take risks
The issue is when the stance is so oppressively plus the situation is basically reduced to block standing or crouch, like Lionheart. There's 0 interesting gameplay arising from that stance, both players are just flipping a coin.

Stances are fine in Tekken and so are mixups even on block, some people (ironically tend to be Mishimas lmao) think you should never ever be in a mixup except on hit but that's impossible because when you use a safe move that is -9 you're putting yourself in a mixup. It's just stuff inherent to fighting games.
