That's different because it was exclusive and was designed explicitly for the 3DS. A better example would be 3U on the 3DS (though from what I've heard that was actually designed for 3DS first too not sure how true that is). Anyway I think it's clear at this point they couldn't achieve what they wanted to with mainline on handheld systems which is what lead to world.
