Troubadour and protector are both sort of mandatory for the post game bosses. Not so much for the main game stuff so you can always grind one up later.
Immunize is very, very strong but absolutely not mandatory.

why does this damn turtle just randomly have the perfect counter for ephemeral reap team?
i build a team focused on ephemeral reap for the 5th stratum but this turtle which has blue outline at this point kinda walls my team lmao. it has a move that removes 3 debuffs from itself and do heavy damage to the frontline which apparently still works even when the debuffs were removed by ephemeral reap first.

There's not really any one size fits all team for EOU2, although a hexer with stigmata grimoire + a whip dark hunter can reliably take 50% of most boss's hp on their own over the course of 3 turns, doesn't work on anything immune to one or more binds for obvious reasons

Yeah there's nothing in 2U that can't really be solved with Ecstacy and ways to reliably set it up outside of maybe the floor 30 boss. I know some of the other classes have real good options too like Ailing Slash, Point Blank+Burst Shot, Compression shenangians, Hazy Arrow, etc. but Ecstacy is the one that really sticks with me.

Flame demon was not bad for me because they just melted.
Gunner and Princess focused on the gels and killed them as they came
Highlander and Alchemist slapped and stabbed the boss to death
Highlander uses Bloody Offense
Princess uses Mind Shut grimoire on their first turns. princess maintains guard and prevent orders

Echoing Library is so cool visually and musically that it feels like a waste that the dungeon's gimmick is the same FOE "puzzle" repeated and iterated on for 3 floors. Feels like it's spiritually a 2 Untold stratum.

I like fort. The mace skills give you volt to complete the element coverage and life steal. Healing combined with the extra defense passives help mitigate your blood surge hp loss. The character doesn't end up as strong as purely offensive focused character but having a bulky self sustaining frontliner is pretty nice.

Off the top of my head you want a mix for drive damage. Both forges give the same boosts, +3% damage, but they're additive with itself and multiplicative with each other. So 4 of one type is 1.1200x damage while 2 atk 2 element is 1.1236 damage.
That said, actually doing all attack is probably better since that works on their non elemental attacks too.

To steal a post from somewhere:
Since the multipliers are multiplicative when they are different and yet conjunctive from the effects of the skill applying both, you want them both to be high/equal, optimally.
So, with an 8-forge weapon having 8 of the same type, the armor having 2 of each, and their accessory having 8 of the opposite one of the weapon, that's a total of 10 forges of each, or a 1.3×1.3 (or 169%) damage bonus for the elemental drives, rather than the 1.06×1.54 (or 163%) you'd get by having the weapon match the accessory, which may seem almost negligible, but with damage in the potential tens of thousands when conjoined with multiple buffs/debuffs, can make a big difference on postgame bosses.

Just be aware, if you often use Accel Drive, or plan on using Overdrive or Assault Drive, ELE forges will do you no good. It is with this firm fact that I feel that the only time you should really worry about maxing both equally is if you REALLY use the elemental ones a lot more, since not only does Accel have higher base mods anyways, but seriously hurts EVERYTHING, not just those weak to it like the elementals.

Volt's my favorite overall but it also depends. I lean volt and ice for spellcasting classes while prefer fire and volt skills for physical ones. I can't quite describe why fire is cooler when it's attached to a katana/mace/gun skill but it just is.

So assuming an Arcanist in 4 is maxed out on Tec and Luck, what stat should I slap on their weapon? I forget if Elemental forges had any effect on untyped damage like Dismiss Blast so I was thinking either that if it worked or Petrification forges to take advantage of their high luck and Ailment Boost. Alternatively slapping on a Hauteclaire for the extra burst gain seems alright too.

the usual recommendation, at least for Arc/NS, is to play into ailment boost's flat additive modifier and give them 1 forge of all the best ailments you can put on their weapon as well as splash or pierce.

The point of the skill is to be a follow up to getting a high roll on one two punch or leading blow. I guess if you have some source of aoe it plays in random encounters too. It's not something you really focus on.

I would be more than okay with this as long as it's Mota and they used the same character style as the first game. I'd actually prefer this over modern himukai though I still like his art when he's drawing normal loli girls. Actually, just go and include all of the original 7th Dragon portraits in the next EO by default in addition to whatever new designs they come up with.

3's still my favorite in a lot of ways but 4 and 5 are worthy successors for how they push the gameplay and encounter design forward and just generally build on 3's foundation. There's a lot more interesting options when it comes to partybuilding too. 4 could benefit from a higher difficulty and 5 could open up a little bit sooner in regards to skill trees but they're golden otherwise.
I'm more mixed on the Untolds and Nexus. Like they still got good things going for them, mostly 2U and Nexus, and I still consider them good games but there's a lot of lame and questionable stuff dragging them down too.
