Yes and no. Some people are just naturally good at Arts, while others not so much. It can also depend on things like ambient amounts of Originium nearby or the quality of the Arts Unit a caster is using. Some races are also innately better at casting certain arts, such as Kylin with Thunder Arts. Having Oripathy does boost your Arts potential and even lets you cast by using the Originium in your body instead of an Arts Unit, but doing also accelerates the growth of Originium crystals and can potentially just kill you outright if you go overboard.
tl;dr it's almost entirely plot based, don't worry about it

Believe me it's not THAT difficult to use OG Arknights design philosophy in Endfield. You could have a fight that requires you to rotate your team in real time (not instanced like multi-team modes in most other gacha games). E.g. you play with your regular team of 4 and you have 4 on reserve, you are required to swap them based on a predetermined order on a time interval or maybe on set points of the fight. You can also have fights where specific enemies only appear after you defeat another set of specific ones, and certain sets of enemies could have different abilities depending on what are their teammates on the field, making the order you kill them important. There are honestly endless possibilities that they are not taking, for whatever reason, even though they already do this same thing in Arknights.

Yes, the whole thing is kind of like that. One huge fuckoff story you're dropped in the middle of and pick up the pieces from events and character dialogue and operator profiles. There are many mystery niggas doing mystery nigga shit, the whole thing feels like it revolves around itself, instead of revolving around you, it's quite the tonal shift from Endfield.

Gang, I wanna cry. I chose to tear down my factory (I'd half-assed it from the start, figuring that I'd need to remake it this update anyway), and had to rebuild... EVERYTHING. And still screwed it up, accidentally doubling the xiranite lines I needed and quadrupling the originium lines.
And then it took me all night to get a good Hetonite Components line going, and I still don't have enough room to get as much Hetonite Solution as I'd like - it's running at half capacity, and I'm almost out of Cuprium even if I could fit in two more crucibles... I could... PROBABLY get one more in, though... I'll have to at least try later...
All of this for a factory that now produces less than before. I've got a Jincao Tea line, I'm siphoning off some Hetonite Parts, and getting fewer saleable batteries than before (since I'm using more, not since I'm producing less), and that's about it. And I'm no longer making Cuprium Components or Xiranite Components, to boot.
Ah, well. Back to the factories, I guess. I'm almost out of ores, but I can still squeeze in... A bit more somewhere...

Worse, honestly. The game loves to introduce stuff through hints and inferences and asks you to figure it out along the way.
This is one of the more straightforward storylines, too (although the actual Sui events themselves can be abstruse as fuck - they're references to classical Chinese literature, and can make you want to rope if you're not into the style), at least in terms of what's happening and why. Stuff like the Sarkaz situation and the Victorian civil war gets complicated fast.

It IS really long, but to be clear, the payoff is worth it. After Year 2, the writing gets really good and worth reading in your free time. The game itself is pretty relaxed, too, so you don't really have to worry about time pressure any.
