I prefer gestalt economies over having to produce c*ns*mer goods any day of the week. I also like how they’re usually quite flexible and you can adapt your playstyle to the game around you. If you decide to start as a diplomatic hive mind but spawn next to nothing but assholes, you can just reform out of the Empath civic and replace it with the one that gives you extra naval cap and speed and you can immediately turn around from being nice to being a genocidal asshole. But if you’re individualist and trying to do a diplomacy run playing as xenophile pacifists only to spawn next to assholes, you’re kinda just cucked

why shouldn't hive mind feel shame or have a sense of indecency?
why would a creature of immense intelligence and knowledge, go around exposing his multiple penises and/or other orifices to the whole universe? dont make a sexually deranged clown out of hive minds - its only a projection of your own filthy mind!
>>
>>
>>
>>
I like bodysnatchers from a thematic view, but in actual gameplay it’s kinda lacking, no? Hive minds already have some of the best pop growth in the game so stealing pops doesn’t feel super necessary, especially when they’re the ai’s shitty randomized pops that usually won’t share your climate preference and be super inefficient because of it

Technically yes but do you really want like 5 different species with different traits and climate preferences in your empire when you can just have 1 and terraform every other planet to your preference? Managing all those different pops with different planet preferences is really obnoxious micromanagement in my experience. Not to mention when you ascend you’re not just modifying 1 species but multiple and it’s annoying
>>
>>569082446
That kind of the whole gist of gestalt conciousness, no? The drones are just that, drones, receptacles so you can enact your will upon existence. But yeah micromanaging a ton of species can be a pain, I have a similar issue with authoritarians when having to constantly change the specific rights of newly jubjugated species. And I like to play 1000 stars game, so there are always a fuckton of them.

Lot of good ideas die on the hill of "it's too much to micro". Something like auto modding climate preference could help with the "just terraform everything" for instance though I'm not sure if that would actually be better or worth using.

I mean having an officer unit that isn't just an elite unit that gives some bonuses (so no Rise of Nations or Empire at War), but a requirement to keep your army in line and a mandatory part of the game, instead of being a rare, expensive unit.
>>
>>
>>569144857
The only things I can think off are things like morale systems in lots of army war games. A type example could be Total war games where leader units can offer bonuses to the morale of lesser units like say Total War Warhammer skaven where the basic units kinda just melt away unless you have a leader nearby. The same mechanic of low morale troops/slave troops requiring a nearby leader to keep them in line is of course present in basically all games that actually have a morale system like this like dominions as another example.
>>
>>
>>
>>569145061
Kinda, but also not really. But it's the second closest thing.
>>569145359
I genuinely wish I could enjoy Total War games, but hiring units on a strategic map and having to make do with what I have on a battle map is very challenging for me.
I'm used to rush AI enemies with extremely small groups of units, I have issues with big armies.
I remember another game, but I think it's one of these... forbidden/gsg/game, Civil War 2. I got it because apparently, having a "proper" chain of command is really important to maximize your troops' potential, but I got filtered by the tutorial.

Why do you hate perfection? Would you prefer if he was a loli space elf?

No idea where this came from but its such a nice thing to see, i have a raider building up north to clear so these guys will be mucho useful.

>Would you prefer if he was a loli space elf?
An eastern game would have taken that concept and run with it directly to the moon. Horatio Prime(?) would be a perfectly aged milf and all of the non-Prime Horatios would be different ages of that exact same milf, with most of them being lolis to show that they are still on the path to perfection while not being there yet, and all of them would be haughty and extremely prideful. You could also get Yakuza-themed Lumeris and Hissho with even heavier Samurai imagery/theming.

Suggest it again in 6 months when I ask for roster suggestions. Having a 3D model I can use helps too if you're going for a specific character but elf models are common I'd have no issue if a generic elf is fine

What could a good story behind a memorialist hive mind be? I’m thinking a post-apocalyptic society that evolved to become gestalt after the nukes but they still retain some degree of religion dedicated to remembering their ancestors

Each has research options that multiply your options as you
Some have new cultures. Meta-wise base game cultures are solid or strong. These can be strong too you're just playing them for fun flavor
Same with rules. Wizard King and Champions are both very very good. But Giant ruler is badass, and stuff like Dragon or Vampire there in case those complete your personal fantasy
So many fucking racial forms now. Nearly all the common ones you'd expect to already have in vanilla. Lot of furry ones between all the DLCs, some humanoid lookalikes, lizardmen too
The best ones are whatever ones five you options you will use to better fit your fantasy of a uh, fantasy civ
If I had to pick at least one from each 'season'?
>Eldritch Realms, extra map layer full of stuff to kill and exploit, tentacle ruler, decent tomes including a Scarlet Crusade one
>Giant Kings, sick ass ruler, many map features and options for your sandbox map realms, dungeon tome to make underground living 2x as nice
>PROBABLY Secrets of the Archmages. We dunno until its out, but that shit has six tomes and an alternate map layer instead of the tentacle rape dimension full of challenges and secret stuff to learn

Monsieur, you make mention to you catching but never to you pitching. You didn't need to tell us about your OnlyFans just to confirm what we already knew. Ah well, c'est la vie.

Id say it would be better if its because in its infancy the hivemind coexisted (perhaps in symbiotic or mutualistic fashion) with another sentient species, and eventually they underwent true symbiosis, which provided the hivemind with the faculties to think and work at far greater scale, and the hivemind decided to dedicate an entire part of itself to remember them forever out of respect. How that mutualism worked and at what scale is yours to decide.
