Oh it's a great experience, but a worthless MMO and completely unplayable due to the grind.
You can play it once and have a great time. It has the most polished gameplay in the series, an enormous map, it's fantastic.
There's no point in sticking around once you're done and for all the people saying "it's good now" are absolutely full of it. 76 is essentially the same game it was back in 2018, there is still no endgame, just more to do before you get there.

It took a while for it to click with me. It's good but it's also flawed. I went into detail a bit more about it last thread, but it's like a middle-of-the-road experience between a good MMO and a good singleplayer game, it's an MMO-lite with survival shooter gameplay. I'd say it's not as good as 1-NV, because those games are genuinely stellar singleplayer experiences. But it's better than 4 in many regards, because I always felt like 4 would function better as a multiplayer game due to how dumbed down the quests are.
Essentially, the spin-off status is apt. It's a Fallout game, but also not really what most people want from one unless you're willing to temper your expectations and go in with an open mind.

It's doable but it's going to start off with a lot of cheese.
Unarmed is actually really good but it's a slow start
You're going to be really reliant on sneak and speech but the puzzle is how you're going to level those up quickly when you aren't getting XP from killing people all the time.
XP is the real bottleneck in this plan.
>>
>>
>>569113906
its a decent singleplayer experience but a shitty MMO experience if you want better MMO get ESO. 76 engame is horrible they just have 1 raid while ESO has hundreds. and theyre not adding more anytime soon theyr more focused on retarded map expansions with one and done short stories if we skipped the "new vegas but in ohio" area expansion wed have 3 more raids by now.
>>
>>569124408
Dude no one likes the raid either cause they made it the most time consuming thing in the world that has such a low chance of giving you what you want
It got so bad that they made the raid cache (that they had to promptly remove cause it was bugged and they never brought it back)
What they should do is focus on map expansions and do it launch-76 style. Give it a very light story told through holotapes and notes and ultimately just be a fun place to run around in and build camps. That's what people want, not taking a whole year to release one part of a questline where your character is just the Ohio raider's bitch.

Phase 2 being
"Don't make a mistake turning a corner into an insta kill guy or you'll waste five minutes of your team's life"
and Phase 4
"Absolutely braindead easy but still takes forever and hope the enemies don't get stuck" aren't fun. I'll take "shoot the guy" any dayWhenever I had to run fuel I could feel my heart rate spike and my chest hurt a ton. I did not want Fallout 76 of all things to take me out.
>>
>>
Does anyone just think like 76 "feels" bad? It's like I'm taking crazy pills, I have good Internet and a good PC but the game just has so much latency on every little action. Looting, shooting, moving in the world feels floaty.

It's a "meh" at best MMO in a FO jacket. Grindy as balls, kept alive by whales. It's a decent time-waster, and can be fun if you've got a group. The RPG aspect is completely gutted and neutered, though. You don't drive the story, you just kinda participate.

For APA MK II, I just think Bethesda wasn't aware of it being in Fallout 2 at all. Most fans certainly aren't.
The X-series naming conventions for Enclave Power Armor is 200% a retcon.
Advanced Power Armor being derived from a pre-war Power Armor prototype isn't necessarily a retcon, but it diminishes part of the point of the Enclave being that they never stopped creating and producing new technologies after the war.
Fallout 3's Enclave Power armor being weaker than T-51b, and only as strong as T-45d doesn't make sense, given that both 2's APA and APA MKII are vastly superior to T-51b.
It's honestly a mess that's all completely at the fault of Bethesda.

Support is aware of issue and recommend not logging for now until cause of issue is found.

That's more of a gameplay contrivance to prevent the player from getting OP armor early.

Fingers crossed. No problems for me so far on PC but I've been hearing reports of survival tent crashes on PlayStation. The game really is showing its age.

I was waiting a long time for the Brotherhood Field Station to come back, it seemed appropriate for it to be now since all the Enclave stuff is returning too. A few days ago, I put in a Bethesda Support request for the Brotherhood Bundle/Armory. A lot of it was introduced in 2021 during Steel Dawn/Reign and hasn't been brought back in a while.
>>
>>569195510
This response was too fast, it's suspicious. It seems to me it's more like
>How about instead of giving 50 unique rewards, we give you 5?
Then people complain
>Ok ok we hear you, how about we bring it up to a smooth 20?
"Yay Bethesda listened to us!"
It's all part of their plan. That's been the way 76 has been going for a while, slowly lower expectations more and more

I bought this from someone's vendor for 17k caps. I saw it had a flame barrel and wanted to try it out. I like it, it's pretty good. Wish it had a stabilized stock though. Should I swap for prime receiver? I'm not sure what the capacitor does since it won't let me inspect i. And what legendary mods work good for it?

when I played 1 I wiped them all out. then I wondered why they were the same size in 2. some character or some terminal talks about how during my slaughter in fallout 1 one or more ran and hid somewhere till it was all over. which actually makes sense, because sometimes they would try to run off the map into the area you cant go without loading out of the area.

also the intro is so damn long compared to every other game

Put Furious and Rapid on it and keep the calibrated capacitor, that makes it do a lot of extra crit damage.

Junkie's is good too if you've got the chems. Pop psycho/psychobuff, med-x, any kind of alcohol, daytripper and daddy-o and that's a 50% damage bonus + 15% damage from psycho or 25% damage from psychobuff.

Damn this new season blows. I'm gonna just do the dailies/weeklies for the atoms and not gonna bother with much else. One of the rewards is literally a broken urinal and two others are just Responders skins.
>>

What's the easiest buff to give to lead belly in 3/nv? I can easily change the 50% to 90% or even 100% and at that point it probably becomes an ok perk. NV keeps track of food eaten/water drunk so I can toss a buff in there evertime the number goes up. Not sure what kind of buff, but I can add one.

With Nuka Cola Dark you can get +6 strength and +6 endurance with Party Boy and Cola Nut. Stacked with Unyielding, that will give you +9 to strength and endurance, which can be quite cool if you don't want to be stuck at low health all the time. Granted for a flamer build you might not need strength though. If you're using melee weapons it can be fun.

There is an implant in OWB that removes all ingested radiation but that's mid to late game stuff, so I think having the perk at like up to 80% radiation reduction is okay? Maybe start at the 50% and then every 5 or so items consumed raise the reduction by 1% up to 80% resistance total? If that's possible to do, I have no idea about modding.
I know lead belly is a gameplay perk, not exactly realistic, but just as a thought - would it be sort of possible irl? Eating irradiated food would just make you sick and you'd throw up, but could you possibly build up a tolerance for it the more you (attempt to) eat? Especially when nearly everything in the world is slightly irradiated and you've been living in it. There are some babushkas living near or in the Chernobyl exclusion zone and I assume they grow their food and appear to be doing okay? At least a few years ago they were.

With Avellone's interview with beardfat, he made the remark that during New Vegas's development, he felt that New Vegas could serve as a setup for a retooled Van Buren.
I wonder how much they'd have to change to make that work, since NV already is a retooling of large portions of Van Buren, even down to several npcs like Arcade, Graham, Christine Royce and Alice McLafferty with Victor Presper being sort of split into Elijah and Ulysses.

Because they're this game's version of the Minutemen.
Impractical, boring, two-dimensional good guys who got their shit kicked in before the game even starts but everyone else have to rebuild them for some reason because "we're all in this together, folks!", as the Appalachia Radio host would say.
Because Fallout past New Vegas can't ever have main factions that aren't goody-two-shoes jobbers. You must rebuild the generic good guys.

Probably somewhere far south of Big MT like Yuma or Baja if Elijah was able to journey there and find it in a relatively short time. It's a shame no one made a Fallout game with the top-down tactical gameplay of Tactics with the roleplaying of 1&2. I guess it's too late for that now. I would've still loved a Fallout game in the universe that Tactics established with the Midwestern Brotherhood. At least some acknowledgement of the game would be nice. People talk about how Bethesda barely mentions New Vegas or 1&2 when you still have NCR ranger armor in FO1st, references to classic architecture in the camp bundles, even the return of the FO2 APA (or should I say X-01?) in Fallout 4.
Tactics might as well not exist because Bethesda won't even reference it for a one-off 76 bundle.

its semi cannon. the way they do it is nothing is canon until a future game references a certain event, then that thing is canon. so far the newer games have referenced Chicago and brotherhood out there and airships, so those elements are canon. with the show going to Colorado and cheyene mountain complex, that will be another thing. they may take it farther if he's going east eventually going to wv, dc, Boston

I'm joking mostly, but the armor of 3's enclave is a pretty apparent design lift off the Midwest bos armor.

>>
>>
File: 1762454184570901.jpg (79.6 KB)
>>569293797
They definitely would've taken some inspiration from Tactics because it was the last (real) Fallout game before Fallout 3. Like tell me this doesn't look recognizably like the Citadel? Even down to the design of the map frame in the background. And Fallout 3's main antagonist being an AI merged from the identities of several former US presidents is certainly not unlike the Calculator being powered by the organic brains of Vault 0's residents either, even if it could just be coincidental.
>>
>>
>>569297252
I think it's reasonable that they took inspiration from Tactics, but I think there's some humor to be found from them lifting stuff from Tactics, while also expressly not allowing it to be a canonical entry.
There's some hints that /parts/ of it /might/ be canon, but never really "Tactics is a canon game" and then you get hit with "btw we're basically remaking the Midwestern BoS. but planting them in DC".

Does anyone else think that Autumn and his Enclave sabotaging the purifier just before the ending of Fallout 3 was a little bit, should I say, evil? For all this time, we've been made to believe he's wholesome chungus who just wants to help everyone. Maybe this was just his way of showing that maybe the real pure water was the friends we made along the way..:
>>
>>569304882
Autumn's characterization is a complete fucking mess and his stated goal of turning the water purifier on so the enclave can help the capital wasteland is contradicted by every single one of his actions over the course of the game.
it's frankly embarrassing writing.
Imagine if Autumn was actually benevolent the whole way through. How different the game would be.
>>
>>569305475
Yeah, that was a real rug pull. For all this time, I supported Colonel Autumn. Through the thick and thin. He kidnapped me, kidnapped others, shot at me on sight, shot at others on sight, told my dad to give over his water purifier or get fucked, and killed one of the scientists. Those were all totally good things he did that were completely just and benevolent. And only now, in the last five minutes of the game, he destroys the purifier? Where did my lovely wholesome chungus go?

I actually did that my last NV playthrough.
Low charisma (3 iirc) which I really leaned into. No speech, almost no barter.
My karma took a huge hit after Hidden Valley and never recovered. Ended up even getting the evil dialogue from Ulysses and the ending narration.
It kind of helps that the character was sort a "shoot first, ask questions later" type, and obedient to House and anyone else who was generally giving me orders (got the 'good' ending with Dean as a strong example). Rarely asking questions of NPCs, rarely searching for non-violet solutions (at least if not prompted first like with Marcus asking me to not kill the mercenaries) and rarely did more social or diplomatic quests like the Freeside and North Vegas quests.
Went Energy Weapons and Explosives as my tag skills. Plasma Caster is pretty GOATed even if it's not technically the strongest EWep in New Vegas. It plays similarly to the Riot Shotgun in practice.
It was interesting. Had to play with sort of a simple 'one-track-mind' mentality. Kind of felt like I was RPing as Dog, but a lot 'smarter'.

As anon said, explosives just aren't good as a primary.
An alternative suggestion is to pick a 'theme' for your guns. Instead of just all gunpowder firearms (compared to laser/plasma) would be "cowboy" weapons (revolvers, bolt-action rifles, the cowboy repeater, shotguns). Keeps you away from the automatic weapons that can feel 'generic'.
>>

>can hold effectiveness for an entire run.
I mean explosives are effective for an entire run, but in a complimentary way.
Chuck a plasma grenade into a crowd and they all get killed or their limbs are all crippled. Send a missiles down range and those deathclaws are now forced to limp toward you while you pepper them with a gun.
Annabelle is a clean two-shot on an entire Legion hitsquad if you don't let them get in your face. High Velocity Missiles are the best missiles for this reason. New Vegas is a Sniper-centric game so take the sniper explosive launcher.

Once the Fallout 3 Remastered comes out, we will be spared this humiliation for at least one month. I wonder how they'll Wokeify this release. I feel like a black man being in charge of the slavers is an outdated notion of pre-2016's aracialism. In today's antiracism climate, race must be brought up every chance it can get, and they'll probably claim Bethesda were "whitewashing" slavery by not bring any attention to the racial aspects of US's slavery. Also, they'll probably remove some of the sex appeal.

I thought we were supposed to be getting an update to Skyline Valley or Burning Springs or a new raid or something? What the fuck is going on with this game? Is it really all hands on deck for the next year until Patch 76? while the game's essentially put into maintenance mode?

Every time someone who doesn't play 76 seethes about 76, the game's lifespan is extended by 2 weeks. That's why the game's lasted so long. Thank you for continuing to support my favorite game.

Is Bethesda going to ruin another rerelease of an old game by doing a remaster rather than a remake again? The Oblivion remastered is dead and forgotten so why bother buying a fallout 3/NV remaster?
>>
>>
>>569437492
Players having an army of followers/pets is one of the most immersion breaking things in gaming. That and faggots prancing around in anti-lore "premium" gear. If they go this route I hope a modder releases one that makes pets invisible and muted.

They're much easier to make than a new project, especially nowadays when AI can do most of it for you.

I was feeling charitable and didn't feel the implicit need to clown on you some more, but since you've asked so politely, it's exactly what they did. Many assets were purchased from the Quixel Megascans library (the same one Capcom uses for their RE engine remakes). In any case, keep making a fool of yourself.

When I was first playing New Vegas as a teenager my dad walked in on me cycling through weapons in the pip boy and said "why does burger boy have a machine gun?" but I told him that was "fallout boy" ever since then he thinks the band Fall Out Boy and Fallout are related in some way. Anyone have a similar experience?

Fallout 3 is good and I'm tired of wannabe faggots shitting on it.
Does it have a shit story? YES! In fact the story is absolutely fucking abysmal. But no one ever mentions the ways in which it's abysmal, like James being a Gary Stu, Martin Septim-like figure who the player has to constantly shadow. Everyone constantly harps on about the Brotherhood when Tactics did similar shit.
Should it have been set 150 years earlier? Probably, but there's a lot of shit that makes no sense like that in Fallout, like how in 1 and NV, close to no progress was made until midway through the following century (2161 and 2138 respectively).
Is NV/1/2/Tactics still better? Absolutely. But the game is far and away better than 4 and 76 occupies a weird spot where the niche it fills makes it a bad point of comparison.
It deserves the criticism but mongoloids with dreadful media literacy love to criticize it for the most retarded things that are explained in the game and/or references. It does a major disservice to anyone when the only ones criticizing the game are chimps who can't understand basic game concepts like abstraction especially in a fricking RPG which are game so reliant on player imagination, where no game has successfully managed to depict the scope of the game world.

I would argue the companions in Fallout 4 are playersexual, not outright gay or bisexual. I personally dislike playersexuality, as it negatively affects characters' autonomy. It would be like, for example, telling Preston Garvey, after committing a murder: "Stop being a bitch, man." and him being like: "Yeah, fool deserved it, anyway." It strips away what the character oughta be.
>>
>>569500041
Oh it handles it, just not very well, and that's in the same game made by the company who devs for the engine. Meanwhile games by this company frequently have game-breaking crashes associated with companion characters breaking cell generation, so I won't anticipate much.
>>
Today i learned when the devs said they had patched skipping to the snake via glitches many seasons ago, that they lied.
Fucking shit rewards, but i'm in it for the xp anyway since the guardian is now a chore and the drill fuel was 'fixed' in a most retarded manner.
I only tried it because infestations are so shit.

>I would argue the companions in Fallout 4 are playersexual, not outright gay or bisexual
That's an oxymoron.
If the player is the same gender, they're gay for the player, which makes them gay.
Dragon Age 2 did it, so Fallout 4 had to do it too. Yet another instance of Bethesda copying BioWare.
>>
>>569502071
Realism isn't always good. Real life is often anticlimactic, boring, and sometimes too strange to be good entertainment.
>>569502264
Playersexual is when the character is sexually attracted to the player character regardless of any quality. Like, for example, imagine if the player character was a dog. A playersexual character would still find the player character sexually attractive regardless if they're a different species.
>>
>>569503241
>Like, for example, imagine if the player character was a dog. A playersexual character would still find the player character sexually attractive regardless if they're a different species
Which makes them zoophiles.
If you could play as a dog in FO4, every companion would not only be gay, but also a zoophile.
>>
>>569503732
Yeah, but I'm trying to describe the concept of playersexual. The companions would theoretically be pedophiles, too, due to the concept of playersexual. The reason I said, "not outright gay or bisexual," is because a lot of these companions don't come across as being written as gay.

>The reason I said, "not outright gay or bisexual," is because a lot of these companions don't come across as being written as gay.
Every male companion except arguably X6 in the game is gay-coded and X6 is the only one without a romance tree.
>Preston's high-pitched buck boy voice and subservient demeanor
>Danse's bara Buzz Lightyear persona
>MacCready being a skinny twink

It's faggots who always thought it was good (they'd eat dog shit and say it's as good as chocolate cake). They think because there has been enough mediocre content dropped to make a full story it means it's good now. Nope, empty lobbies filled with bots, gay story, and the seasonal content is trash.

Starfield makes me sad. That piece of shit took away precious time from Fallout and TES. Pretty much everything that matters is a step down from other Bethesda games. Also, the game is the most HR-friendly game Bethesda has ever done, making the setting feel unrealistic and boring.

remember. if you but iquana on a stick and it isn't the whole iguana on there, you've eating human flesh. I find it interesting that all the games seemed to have had this since we learned the secret in fallout 1

its in the regular game.once you go into that doctors basement in junktown and find the body parts, you can blackmail Bob in the hub by telling him you know they've been using human meat to sell extra. then he will pay you a certain amount of caps every week based on your barter skill. I think the cut part is the option to turn him into the police. and it doesn't give you a quest marker of any kind

It's not Iguana on a Stick, it's Iguana Bits. Both have been in every Fallout game but only one was the human meat, we know this because all of the icons for the former contained an actual Iguana (or lizard-like creature), while the other was, well, indiscernible bits.
And as far as we know, while Iguana Bits have been kept as an easter egg/callback to FO1, every game after has real Iguana Bits because Iguana Bob/Doc Morbid are no longer around. We know from FO2 that Bob's Iguana Bits in the Hub stayed around after being taken over by his son, which AFAIK could imply that the secret ingredient is still being used, although I very much doubt that by 2281 (NV), Iquana Bits are still made of human meat, and on the East Coast even more so since it's on the other side of the country.

Revenge of the Van Graffs has the best versions of the Plasma Defender and Laser RCW. the Sawed-off Shotgun, Lever-action Shotgun, and Wattz 1000 are made by the same authors, and they're also great. the Plasma Caster mod looks solid, but I haven't tried it out yet. it has both the NV and 76 model casters, and one for the Institute with a really unique reload animation.
