A lot to comms, but as newer player, even having basics is great.
Goes without saying, if you can get friends into it, it can be way more fun than queuing with randoms.

Some gun basics:
Zero concept of velocity so guns function more like lasers (besides the recoil). If you aim a pistol center, it can hit true across the map. No leading or compensation required (been playing BF6 so this sticks out as different in Siege lol).
1 hit headshots.
Bullet penetration and caliber-based destructible walls and floors.
Flash Hider and Vertical Grip are universal attachments on most guns with a few exceptions. Sights and laser sight are more preference, there's a gun range and practice modes to dial in instead of live matches.

Let's say you're in a sweaty, "high-ranked" lobby and you're the last man standing in a 1v1, 1v2, or 1v3 scenario- how exactly should you consciously conduct your movement? Let's say the enemy is vaguely aware of where you are, and are holding an angle at your general position. They are already aiming down their sights waiting for you. Time is not on your side.
Should you:
A.) Approach the doorway with a very basic strafe-peek? (You know, alternate between the A and D keys while you try and get a glimpse inside the room?)
B.) Approach the doorway with a shaiiko peek?
C.) Approach the doorway with a slightly more complex hashom peek?
I know that in all cases you're likely to die, but which method would result in you receiving the LEAST damage and not get immediately headshot when entering the doorway, and would also overall be the least time-consuming?

The bigger their number advantage, the more aggressive you want to be (you may even want to full swing the first guy right away if its really bad)

If defuser has not been planted and its a 1v4 or 1v5, sit tight and bait the first 2 or 3 frags. This is sadly extremely effective even in champ lobbies

I want to like dual front, but the map is massive and feels soulless and runs like shit on my laptop which generally isn't even that shit even though its aging. You never really get the experience of a larger fight because in practice it plays like two seperate 3v3s or 2v4s and when it then runs like shit with jaggy framerates that makes it ten times more difficult to win a fight, the 30 minute or whatever match time just becomes a long arduous chore of eating shit for 30 minutes where half the time is spend just navigating the map rather than fighting the enemy team.

Even before this update, disconnects have developed like Pros using Mira proactively (open so you can C4 kill / impact trick hard breach) to counter. But you almost never see that in common Ranked because the risk is high and players are not accustomed to that kind of coordinate line-up. So there are less counters on Defense for average players to pull off, your walls are just getting opened on most main sites

Dudes. What the FUCK is up with weirdos tryharding so much in unranked? I'm currently Emerald and I've been playing Siege since High calibre- and I can honestly say that the sweatiest matches I've ever had, have always been in unranked and NEVER ranked.
It just doesn't make sense. Randoms on the enemy team will straight-up bust out pro league tier strats in goddamn unranked and put up double digits whenever I'm trying to relax and complete a few Ubisoft connect challenges and am not prepared at all whatsoever, but then those some randoms will get fucking dumpstered in ranked and hardly get 5 kills.
I'm not kidding: only like 2 weeks ago in unranked, I fought against this mega-tryharding Champ. I looked up his profile afterwards, and I shit you not: his lifetime unranked/quick-match kda was like 2.20, but his lifetime ranked kda was hovering around 1.20.

It's not surprising. Siege is a very cerebral game in a genre that already has trouble appealing to anyone besides white military nerds. operators don't take that long to unlock. older ones are discounted and the game gives you a ton of free credits for doing the assignments. there's also weekly challenges to earn more.
you're mainly paying for ranked access and the option to skip the grind. there's no power creep either you can get by with the starter operators just fine they just might not be the ideal in all situations.
to give you a quick example thermite is the starter hard breacher and he can open the most walls but he has to place his charges by hand so he's riskier than the other hard breachers.

It’s a cool game and I’d like to like it but I don’t even like the movement. You also need an entire surround sound to properly utilize the sound and yet all the sound effects sound bad. Even the graphics aren’t the best despite the game’s age. The game also has almost no character, its entire appearance is tame. I want to like it but CS2 and CoD’s search and destroy are a “no bullshit” variant. It feels like they intentionally made the game egregiously slow because of how unbalanced and broken it is. Personally I am a "nogun" guy who hasnt read or played anything else made by tom clancy but I also find the way the game's artstyle regressed kinda ridiculous. All the launch operators are equipped and dressed how you would expect special ops to be in real life and their gadgets are all either fully or almost realistic. In contrast to that, all the more recently released ones went full-on DEI star wars or metal gear with their sci-fi ass tech. It seems like they went into a completely different direction thematically for the sake of gameplay and letting their artists go crazy. The quality of the character select renders also varies wildly. The OG ones are so good they look like they could be actual photos taken IRL while dudes like Fenrir looks like he could be a new Overwatch hero.

I meant “controls” universally. K+M feel like it’s emulating a controller. It has mouse acceleration that causes you to either over rotate or under rotate. Every other FPS has a straight forward mouse sensitivity setting that works, Siege has 4 sliders for mouse, like battlefield 1. It makes it feel less like a PC game, so I immediately turned it off. otb it is terrible. The mapped keys feel like I’m playing Doom’s original key bindings. It’s dated as f. Leaning, is the crux of my argument as it feels like a robot rotating a single axis of a gyro. It’s at a constant speed towards a perfect 45 degree tilt and it takes nearly a whole second after pressing to tilt. Tilting is not new. Neo Tokyo has an immediate tilt unlike siege. Characters in siege run like they’re on a treadmill. Gadget’s are a crutch to the game itself. The gameplay is slow to encourage the inclusion of gadgets. You basically wait 2 minutes until the diffusing team uses all their gadgets at once and makes a push in the last 30 or so seconds. The backwords CS bomb scenario is toothless and hollywood noguns. The scenarios are like, “oh no, ex military terrorists are going to blow up a billionaire’s mansion so we must risk 5 swat team members in order to stop them and give them a single remote defuser that takes 30 seconds to work after being placed right next to the bomb”. And why couldn’t they popularize Hostages instead like in the trailer. It would have been something different than something like the most popular CS game mode. The game has no lighting. It’s a swat game with no flashlights or dark corridors. Its only gimmick is a few breakable walls that are always on bomb site. The gameplay is redundant since you don’t move around the map much because you’re too slow and loud. Siege feels like one of those games where we got a lesser product than the games we already had (swat4 and Rainbow Six 3)

Holo A and Holo B are the only 1x sights worth a shit. For magnified I usually run the resized 1.5 sight and swap off to ACOG when I plan on holding long angles.

OG tachanka was genuinely unplayable. It is impossible to beat a prefire once they've droned out your gun, the DP-27's stats aren't that good to begin with, and the shield didn't help because you could shoot the tips of it without tachanka being able to retaliate. Current tachanka is hard to play but he shines in the right situation which is more than can be said about his old version.

So I'm back. I see that the transition to f2p has brought more suffering to the r6s world. I played a few public games, and I see that the skill level has dropped, obviously. Most players don't know about the existence of default cameras at all. Devs need to focus more on training and tips for beginners. But it doesn't matter, the more people the better.
I have a few questions about skins. Did they remove bundles for operations with operator retextures? There were always thematic bundles with retextures for each operation.
Another question about alpha packs. Are they only seasonal now? And I only see legendary weapons in them. What about legendary operator skins, when were they removed and will they return?

This is because they added skill decay to matchmaking. If you don't play for more than 2 months (might be 3 months, I don't remember iirc) your skill slowly gets "reset" so you'll be matched with newcomers and other people with similar skill post-decay
Alpha pack contents change year by year now, and with last (this current season) they reworked ALL rarities so most of the legendary stuff is now epic and so on
This current operation/season doesn't have a seasonal uniform/camo due to being a crossover season with Metal Gear. In any case, now the seasonal weapon skins are locked behind battle passes, but there's more than 1 at least

There's a forced tutorial now and a ton of dedicated training modes they just don't care. Console is now a significant portion of siege's playerbase and they're dumb as fuck.
Alpha packs are still a hidden handpicked pool of items as it has always been but the contents have been extra shitty lately. I've gotten a baby vomit seasonal skin in most of my packs this season.

Yo, has anyone else been getting any weirdo unranked warriors in their unranked matches lately? I'm playing unranked mostly to fuck around and sharpen up my skills for ranked next season, and this one clown on my team got 16 kills. He proceeded to ego hard and go apeshit at me, TK'ing me for being 2-3, ranting on about how much of a fragger/demon at the game he is.
I looked him up afterwards, and his fucking lifetime ranked KDA was at 1.10 after 800 matches, and he peaked Emerald 3 after 500 matches of solo queue this season with a KDA of 1.16.

Caring about KD is the biggest sign of a perma stuck shitter. WR is all that matters but doing the things that objectively improve your winrate like droning properly, actively communicating, playing off teammates, filling gaps, etc is all the boring shit that aimbros hate doing. KD will naturally go up as your WR goes up but it will come from playing advantages not from hitting crazy beaulo flicks.

good question. mix of veterans being too lazy to autisticly compile knowledge/info if it's not proleague related, and the gap only ever being filled by people with financial incentive ie youtube creators. so that kind of info like latest attachments, skins, etc. is usually in seasonal update-type videos from youtubers, but not comprehensively covered in any up-to-date wiki or anything
