Plain 2004 feels very much like f2p+ rather than a full blown members world. You get just enough content to feel like you're a step above f2p but not enough to really bring out the strengths of the game. Pretty cool though I'm still enjoying it. Also, with almost no make-all you can't retain a big chunk of the casual playerbase as their afk options are quite limited.

I was mining ess and suspected a bot. I door slammed them from leaving, they sat for a minute and then eventually teled back to mine more ess with a fully inventory.

Thoughts on herb grinding? What is the go-to spot for getting a good amount of these in 04?

Chaos druids so far have been very generous, I was also trying men in lumbridge & edgeville with their added bonus of easy clues but the lack of gem drop table kinda sucks. Anyone tried other spots like Tribesmen, Thugs or Jogres? Any good place I'm still missing?

Even though version control was invented in America decades prior to Classic Jagex didn't use it until 2012. OSRS only exists because they're bad enough at preservation that they misplaced a 2007 backup tape before they had the chance to overwrite it and then rediscovered it years later.

Fire giants I don't think are -the- meta, just a good balance between money and xp
Green drags are the best way to get combat xp and money, but obviously not afk or comfy
Moss Giants (seen below) I think are the best xp rates an hour

Damn they already have a CML-like site up for 04scape? Very interesting data, but for non-poopsockers it def makes more sense to go for gp/xp rather than pure gains. Depending on how active wildy is you can get away with some impressive auto retal afk methods in certain areas of the map.

i kill a lot of fire giants and trade the key halves for glories so i get a good stack to recharge
i afk yews with a goblin hitting me when i dont feel like playing

you can also plan around updates since we know what's coming. I've only been training ranged as fremmy helm is coming soon(ish) with rock crabs so what's the point of melee until then.. and with the fletch X update with that I can make all my yews into bows to alch. ez gaem
