Please recommend what pick-a-mech I should pick for the Halloween prizes. I have no idea what to get. I mostly just brawl in my Snub Urbanmech, and sometimes do a bit of sniping with my PPC Cougar. Gausszilla, 4x LB20+P.PPC: Just as good as I thought it would be. Slung arms are a little annoying, but nothing crazy. Chunks idiots like nothing I've ever played before. The 360m is a breath of fresh air compared to the typical 270m LBsplat usually needs.
Sovereign: yeah, not surprised that this is meta. Used 5AC5 PAC2 and 6x LB2 PPC so far. Brainless, can go anywhere, good enough hitboxes. The slung arms are again annoying, but tolerable. Not sure what the best loadout is. Can't decide
Crael: don't like it, should have redeemed something else. 5 AC2 dead side is kind of a waste. The brawling setup is fine.

You'll still find games reasonably quickly during primetime hours.
They push updates every 3rd Tuesday of the month, still adding new mechs or variants of mechs through mech packs.

Naga dropped last month (kinda mid but probably getting buffed)

This month is Icons pack, current leaks say (Clan Atlas, Clan Battlemaster, Clan Awesome, 4th mech in pack currently unknown).

If you know how to use your hands and click on things you'll probably climb tiers quick. They're still running comp surprisingly.

Define "worth playing." I think the game is generally pretty enjoyable. It has a small but dedicated playerbase. As the other Anon said, you'll never have to wait more than a few couple minutes to get into a match during prime time, which is comparable to the wait time trying to get into a ranked game of League of Legends, as an example. Prime time being like 12PM EST to 2AM EST. Also unlike Quake, which also has a (very) small but dedicated playerbase, you won't get instantly obliterated as you learn the ropes of this game. The time to kill in this game is fairly high, assuming you don't literally run into the enemy team. Generally people are very friendly and enjoyable to play with. Assuming you're at least even a little competent, you'll get invited to play with groups, which is a lot of fun. I mostly play solo, but occasionally I'll join a group and try to run support for people.

The hardest part of this game is just finding a mech/playstyle you enjoy in the beginning. You're not given that many C-bills to start with. Enough to buy most medium or light mechs, and outfit them. So do a bit or research before buying your first mech. For a new player, I'd recommend something with medium to long range (400-800 meters). There's rotating trial mechs you can use for free, but you can't change the equipment on them. But once you find mechs you enjoy and do well in, you'll rack up C-bills crazy fast. Also the better you do in matches (mostly determined by how much damage you do), the more C-bills you'll earn for each match. You never have to pay to repair mechs between matches or anything like that.

It's a fun game with a nice community. I wish it had more maps or more game modes, but what exists now is pretty good. And it's completely free. You don't have spend a damn cent. I eventually spent a bit of money on it after playing for 400 hours, but with the events they run every month or so, you never have to.
