I still see some people doing 180° dribbles with zero momentum loss but a lot less than before. Juggling is still ridiculously OP since the person doing it has priority most of the time, if you hard commit and fumble he gets past you and intercepting doesn't even guarantee a steal. I would've thought it would be somewhat nerfed because high level lobbies are nothing but clown juggling tricks and zero actual dribbling.
The moves they added where you can string a dribble into a run are good though. Overall the level of polish is pretty solid right now and I feel like my games aren't just launching missiles hoping for priority volleys or one animation glitch abuser ruining it all for everyone.
I don't see the game getting a big revival like what it was during the beta or even release and I wonder if the devs are even making money, beyond one BP that pays for itself anyway people aren't spending shit (maybe it's different in console only lobbies). We'll see if the game goes F2P late next year.

At this point I'm mostly waiting for the game to go F2P so I can do 3v3 with 5 of my friends (they're LoLbabs and they don't wanna fork over 20€). The question is, if the business model becomes unsustainable in the next year will the devs decide to go straight EoS or will they do F2P first?

they gotta do F2P first right? I mean the game is already set up for it.

Depends if they believe in it and if they want to continue allocating people to developing it/maintaining it. Concord never went F2P and that was half a million in dev costs with a season 2 with new characters and cutscenes ready to ship. I suspect Marathon won't either, if it flops.

The various sales are doing nothing for player numbers so far at least on Steam. I suspect most of the playerbase is on console but it's not like it's going to have 10x as many players. They're a "small" team so they might decide to just put the game on life support without F2P and then EoS.

>had a game where all of my team was probably playing for the first time
>tried to make passes to them and went to GK went they left as soon as they spawned (because of course newbies don't want to GK)
>won the game 5-1
hope they don't get steamrolled by elite autists too fast
surprisingly the enemy team was also like us newbies with maybe only one experienced dude so the game DOES have some sort of SBMM.

Sure, just grab the ball wherever you want bro. Because it's not enough that backpasses negate any offensive pressure already.

I do this a lot in 3v3, you can pretty much outrun one or two defenders with your infinite stamina if they're badly positioned.

>that dude who asked for a pass 1564113 times during the game but was never ready to receive it, ball chased like a retard and was always next to a defender
Why are devs wasting time or shit like Fireball mode (AGAIN) instead of implementing things like mute a player's pings or surrender?
>>
>>2153173
It has been fun dealing with the noobs who chase after the ball and cherry pick. I prefer them over the exploiting sweats. I am glad I find it fun to shut down cherry pickers, because no one else is going to cover them.
>>2153296
On one hand, I hate those players and do not want to pass to them. On the other hand, no one on the other team is covering them, and I want to punish them for screwing their goalie.
I actually like fireball mode. It is different enough, and actually makes people pass the ball.
Just do not take away normal quickplay for it, you french retards.

For me it's just a breath of fresh air playing with and against people that don't abuse animation exploits to dribble or 24/7 missile launchs. This game is truly ass at high levels of play and unlike RL it doesn't have a playerbase big enough for quality matchmaking. I'd rather be in a game full of retards that barely ever pass than being forced to watch another AGP squad finish their animation cancelling and chain juggling routine.

Looking back at the "hype" this game generated in the open beta days and before release it's a bit disheartening to see its state today. Trailers had 1+ million views, tons of shorts and tiktoks and whether I like it or not (I don't), that's golden currency for any dev nowadays. I think the game has improved a lot but the devs failed to capitalize on it, when they saw the problems on release they should've had all hands on deck trying to fix the issues. The "small indie dev" excuse might be a good one objectively but the modern live service audience has the attention span of a goldfish and if you lose them it's going to be near impossible to get them back.
Of course they can still pivot to a F2P model, but I'm unsure if they will actually go through with this or if it will even bring the game back to open beta levels with 100k+ ccu.
>>
>>
>>2155989
I'm mostly fine with it because it's not an animation exploit but yes it's frustrating when you know the opponent is going to do X move, you go to counter and it doesn't work because dude has a prio advantage. They need to fix all the animation exploits and cancels at some point though, they're starting to buff the actual dribbles so now there's no excuses.
I feel like the devs should try to make this a fun game first before listening to the very vocal part of the community that want to squeeze every advantage to win even if it's exploits. Maybe I'm wrong though and the playerbase is actually all sweats, but most people I've talked to just want to relax with friends and play normally.

>up 2-0 after I score a goal.
>get goalie.
>team lets a guy cherry pick.
>he gets the ball, has all the time in the world to rainbow flick.
>scores a goal with 10 seconds remaining.
>up a goal and we get the ball so no biggie.
>our cherry pickers spams good job after.
>the other cherry picker now sprints out of the goal.
>screw these guys, kick an own goal.

I actually like playing against those kind of fagsexcept jugglers because the only counter is spamming the shoot button. It is fun shutting down those glitch abusers, because they never bothered to actually learn soccer or teamplay, so they become useless real fast. Passing the ball backwards, especially to the goalie, kills any attack the other team had, and I swear like 99% of players do not even know you can pass the ball backwards.
Of course, the issue is that you can only cover one guy, and cherry pickers exist. It is actually the reason I do not like playing goalie, because if I am goalie, then no one covers them.

How is this even possible? Looking at the current state of the playerbase you'd swear the game has been a huge flop. That's only PC only too. Did the french retards really scare away 90% of their playerbase ?

I just noticed this season's battle pass has a handful of tiers that aren't exclusive to it, if they're already resorting to filling it up it doesn't bode well. However, this would be quite weird considering the game sold so well...
Why is Sloclap's communication so ass? They don't talk about the game outside of the season and mid season patches, they have a CM what does he do all day? Most of the updates don't have patch notes, they don't post in Steam discussions (and consoles don't have that). It's quite bizarre when you have a "successful" product but don't do the bare minimum on that front.
Anyway, games have been good recently due to the influx of new players. It's refreshing having games where you're not sweating your ass off in defense against people doing their golden boost/juggling/ippy slide routine (or whatever that thing with the dribble cancelling is called now). I just hope the game goes F2P sometime this year so I can do some 3v3 with 5 other friends.

>About F2P
"Regarding free to play: while this is something that will come eventually to Rematch, we first need to polish/improve the game on a variety of levels: core gameplay, systems, anticheat, easier reporting system, better moderation tools, and more. When you go free to play, you only have one shot at making an impact, because if players try the game out and decide it's not good enough, they never come back. And if tools like anticheat/moderation aren't super solid, toxic free to play players and cheaters can ruin the game for everyone. Finally, we also need more/better content to offer our players in the store and the battle pass, because if you go free to play but players don't have interesting things to purchase, then you lose money operating the game, and eventually have to shut it down… Currently, the game would not be viable in free to play.
In the meantime however, with new content, events, big discounts at season launches, we think we can maintain a strong enough community so the game stays alive and strong. Currently, thanks to crossplay, matchmaking times are very decent in our more populated regions - we do acknowledge that in regions with lower populations, it can be hard to find games at certain times though, but we think that with upcoming discounts and new gameplay features, new players will come to the game and breathe new life into these regions."
If you want to check all of their replies to the AMA you need to click on "with replies", took me 10 minutes to find this. Such a dogshit website and now pollutes search engines with its automatic translation too.

This is the type of shit you can still sort of do in the game.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mcuo2SLV8hM
The worst part is that faggots abusing this type of exploits will tell you defense is too strong. I'm fine with making dribbling and attacking better but only if they completely remove this type of shit where it's not even mind games anymore it's just some retard spazzing out left and right with unreadable body language until there's an opening.

Blocktube allows you to block channels even from search results. Just a tip. Works great for channels like these that make a living from flooding repurposed stream content on "niche" games and pass it up as something else.

So are /we/ hopeful about the future of the game or do /we/ think this is going to be a slow descend towards 0 players? Personally if you forget the live service slop aspects, the simplicity of the game reminds me of the good old days when I could launch any MP game or mod and have fun. Kepler are retards for pushing for a release of the game this soon, it should've launched around Christmas in the state its in currently.

I have no hope for this game given that we are approaching a year and the "meta" is still animation and other exploits.

>I have no hope for this game given that we are approaching a year and the "meta" is still animation and other exploits.
When did the obsession with "le competitive" become prevalent among gaymers? Back when I played a lot of RL in the mid 2010s, most people just wanted to hit the ball and have fun. Now you look at RL discussions and it's non stop dick measuring contest about ranks, muh aerials etc. Zoomers pick up a game today and they instantly want to suck the fun out by optimizing everything. There's also the problem that a lot of them now think you can just do retarded shit in normal games because it's not ranked.
Anyway I hope the frogs are aiming for a F2P release this year because I don't know if it's gonna be very alive in 2027.
>>
>>2176077
>When did the obsession with "le competitive" become prevalent among gaymers?
I blame esports. People want to be 'the best' no matter how much it sucks the fun out of games.
That is why the most fun in this game comes when both teams are actually passing the ball and playing the game like a soccer match instead of having players standing offsides and using animation exploits.

I know new players are bad, and I am fine with that, but do none of them have any sort of game sense or understanding of sports? I see so many of them just run after the ball the whole game, regardless of who has it. I was not doing that when I started.

The more time passes, the more I get animation cancelling autists with defensive stance abuse in my games. Had a good run, clocked in 200hrs but I barely play it anymore. My copium is they're slowly implementing better dribbling tools before gutting all the glitches in the game, but that probably won't happen because in proportion those abusers are the most vocal minority. If they're planning on going F2P they need to fix this or the playerbase will crater exactly like it did after release.
