Considering the founder was a total psychopath who was addicted to ArcheAge and spent a fortune on the game, he could have easily made a new version of the game through AoC if he was actually serious about it.

Pretty sure he did intend to build a game but when he saw the amount of retards giving him free money for a promise and virtually no legal obligations, he decided to soft rug the entire thing, hire a bunch of nobodies to build a demo and basically stall the project until people either give up on it or they simply fuck off.

He's not building shit, he doesn't want a release, he's busy living his life as a rich man. That's your textbook kickstarter scam and he did have the financial means to make it go viral and promote the kickstarter efficiently which made it go viral the way it did.
