Been a while since we had one of these. This thread's for just generally playing whatever with random /vm/ anons, without necessarily having to join a group or make a more specific thread that might not get traffic. That, and bringing back the old weekly game nights. In any case, feel free to post lobbies, schedule sessions, or to suggest some games to feature.
This week, we'll do UT2004 on Friday at 7PM EST
Game can be grabbed with the installer here: https://github.com/OldUnreal/FullGameInstallers/releases

Why do newfags like you not understand that these threads are for 4chan only and not outsiders. Using the thread as intended he would have simply posted the lobby here and be done with it. Except he linked to some outside lace and also posted the lobby on there thus defeating the purpose of a thread like this. Here i am in a 4chan thread for playing together so i expect to play with people from here. Newfags never seem to understand what a imageboard is. You're always trying to include discord or some other offsite shit even though theres a thread right infront of your eyes.

I take back what I said earlier.
Now that we've got a schizo that will throw out every accusation and excuse in the book in a transparent attempt to stir shit and avoid playing vidya, it's NOW that the Game Night thread is REALLY back
Friday's gonna be fun

Yeah I aint got those, apologies. I mainly have Peak, Content Warning, Kletka, and Lethal Company. I'll look around myself when I get the chance. I've seen some free ones in the past, and I know there's some mods and such that also offer the whole silly tethered together kind of thing.

>Why even bother posting in this thread if you dont want to play with people on here
Gonna bounce the question straight back to you mate, because it's clear you're just a shitposter that doesn't care about vidya.
The proof is in the fact that the anon you're replying to posted a Private session link, which means that even if you're paranoid and delusional enough to think that the average user browsing for sessions is a redditor, that problem is removed from the equation because only people that have the link can access those session details.
And if you don't know why it'd be valuable to have something that can quickly and anonymously have people RSVP a degree of interest or facilitate a form of more rapid sub-thread, then I welcome you to /vm/ and your first Game Night thread here, because in that case you'd clearly not have been to any of the previous ones. Seriously, it'd be like you whining about us using Strawpoll in the past.
>>
>>2249905
>you're just a shitposter that doesn't care about vidya.
Not wanting to play with outsiders means you dont care about video games? Nice argument.
>The proof is in the fact that the anon you're replying to posted a Private session link
In the first place he didnt need to post that. We have a thread here. You dont seem to understand how imageboards work.
>something that can quickly and anonymously have people RSVP
Theres no reason whatsoever to have that. I've been playing with other people on imageboards quite alot of times and theres never been a need for "rsvp" or whatever gay shit you imagine in your head.
>or facilitate a form of more rapid sub-thread
You have a thread here. There is absolutely nothing stopping you from posting here and even if you couldnt play then someone else would simply take your place.
>then I welcome you to /vm/ and your first Game Night thread here, because in that case you'd clearly not have been to any of the previous ones. Seriously, it'd be like you whining about us using Strawpoll in the past.
>(You)
>>
>>2249921
lol, you don't even have any real argument anymore. Like you're not even actually arguing the point of whether it's connected to outsiders or in any way harmful, because you can't. You're just trying to paint it as extra and excessive enough to justify your crying about it, which is ridiculous and hilarious, given that it in no way detracted from that anon posting in the thread--they didn't even post the lobby code on that page, only here--and the fact that it has nothing to do with your whining, which was all about redditors and discord. It's not even goalpost shifting, you're just actually coping about your outburst.
Especially with the cherry on top that you have no retort to the fact that, if you actually weren't new to /vm/ and these Weekly Game Night threads, you'd know for a fact that this is precisely the kind of thing people have said would have been beneficial in the past.
So what's it going to be now, you little melty-haver. What's going to be the next excuse as to why you choose to keep whining instead of actually playing video games.

Poll Time:
https://strawpoll.com/LVyK2doV8Z0
It will run until Wednesday, at which point a game will be decided, so you have time to grab it + get any mods set up
>>2252590
I don't mind rerunning a session of it later this week, if you're interested. I'm fine playing any of the games I host later on. It's just that it'd be on a weekday and at the same time.
>>2252576
I can run L4D2 on my server, although the player cap only go up to like, 16-18. I forget which it is. I had to use a different mod than the usual Left4DeadToolZ or whatever it's called, so I can't run the full 32 if it gets pick. Shouldn't be an issue though. UT2004 got a good chunk of players joining and leaving, but we capped out around I think 15-18 at a time.
>>2252558
I added the games, and they should be able to run. I haven't tested the latest patch of JBEP3 with FEX, but previous ones have worked, so I feel comfortable listing it as an option. Sven oddly is even more temperamental, but I think it depends on the map and was still playable on my main problem map (toysoldiers)
That being said
>[hate potential outsiders]
Ship has already sailed on that one, man. When I hosted UT2004, I invited some offsite buddies as well, and put out feelers elsewhere. I can tell you the logic behind all of it, and why it's still a /vm/ session, but seeing how you replied to other posts, I think the only thing you'll care about is that it happened, and that it'll keep happening.
If that bothers you, alas, I guess you were deceived, and next time I'll name the thread "Tricking /vm/ anons into playing with random sluts" if that'll make you happy, but unfortunately the thread will continue as is. If you wanna keep shouting at people, that's your decision, but it's not really gonna change anything. Best you can do to change things would be to make another thread while calling this one gay in its OP or something, I guess.
>>
>>
>>
>>2253913
This is just for video games, with anons, hosted on /vm/. Part of the point is to not have to worry about being attached to any specific group, as most already have pretty set in game selections and cultures. That being said, I don't really know what you're talking about, other than knowing that the MMOventure exists
>>2253904
Please do not insult the dokoers. They're off doing their own thing.

File: vm game night.png (958.1 KB)
>>2253940
>So this thread is something that existed before, stopped for a long time, and is resuming again?
Yes. For the first year or so when /vm/ first started, we had Official Game Nights that were sticked and ran by the mods themselves. After they stopped, some of us anons were occasionally running it ourselves, along with keeping the thread up and open to playing whatever through the rest of the week
>what did they mean by this post
I mentioned intent to start running it again on /v/. People have been talking about joining in game nights quite a decent bit now due to that GameDate site, so it seemed like as good a time as any. Plus I thought it'd be good to make a thread now and this way so it'd be thread-focused first and foremost, so people would prioritize the thread, posting deets, and setting things up here even if they still make a GD link. Seems to have somewhat worked so far.

Ayy, nice. Okay so, the big thing is that Battlerite is basically an arena game.
You have Energy Orbs (orange), which you can spend on stronger abilities.
And you have Healing Orbs (green), which can give you "True Healing"
See, when you take damage past certain thresholds, that threshold becomes your new Max HP.
So if you, say, start at 250, and then drop down to 170, you've dropped past the threshold of 200.
That means you can still be healed by abilities, but only up to that new threshold of 200.
These thresholds get passed more and more as it drains, shown by the HP bar actively shrinking.
The only way to heal your missing Max HP is with True Healing, which is done with the Healing Orbs.
This also means it's valuable to stick by your team's Support, so that you keep topped up enough to not need True Healing
So in addition to fighting your opponents, you also want to deny these resources, or pick them up as you need them.
Especially the BIG Orb, which respawns in the center every 20s or so.
You have to punch the Big Orb quite a lot to break it open, so there's a lot of finagling for last hit.
If you break it, everyone on your team, everywhere in the arena, gets some Healing, True Healing, and Energy

I played lots of HoN/DotA back in the day which is why I was drawn to it but I never had friends willing to try new shit and play random games with me. Funny to think that after 9 years, this may be the first time I get into the game. If anybody wants to maybe fuck around during the week, let me know.

Well you know how it goes. If you're interested in random games, you inevitably get more added to a catalog than actually played
In any case, I wouldn't be able to today, but I could shoot for playing a short bit on Thursday as a pre-weekend session
I've got a couple of people I could probably pull in, but if it's just us we could do some basic duels or try to queue or something
Lemme know if a time works for you, otherwise I could just drop a (You) whenever I'm free next

Alright, it's Wednesday, and looks like the game of the week is gonna be Power Bomberman. A true modern classic for the threads, so I hope to see you all there. Game can be grabbed here if you don't have it already (plus it got updated towards the end of last year):

For a bit of Sunday side action, I was feeling like doing some BallisticNG. For anyone unfamiliar, it's an anti-grav racing game, which basically amounts to racing ships going very fast on tracks that may or may not go up and down and all around. This is specifically a Wipeout clone, but if you've play F-Zero or Redout, you'd be somewhat familiar with the concept.
In any case, server will have the same IP and such as usual. You'll be able to connect with:
170.9.253.190:10666
Will go up around 6PM on Sunday
Gonna be sticking with vanilla maps, as to keep it light (and because the server doesn't like custom maps loading a particular shader, and I'd have to test each track individually, lol). Server hosting means that any of you with the GOG version or with the """GOG""" version can join in too.

Alright, was busy today so apologies for it being a bit in the evening, but here is the poll for this week's game
https://strawpoll.com/40Zm40Ow2ga
I've added SRB2K due to it being mentioned in the thread. As a reminder, aside from L4D2, all the games in the list are free and pretty small to install, and multiple choice is enabled, so feel free to vote for whatever and try whatever out.
As an added thing, I will also run Power Bomberman again on Wednesday. I feel like doing the follow-up night later in the week a pretty decent way to do things for anyone that might've missed the game or want to run it again. In any case, it'll be at 6PM, so mark your calendars if you wanna bomb some more men.

Server will be going up about 30mins or so before 7PM EST, so little under an hour from now. Same address, yeah. It's not up right now because I'm messing around with the mods a bit (trying to find out how to disable boost gates while also keeping the other features of the mod it comes from).

Damn, actually gonna tie it up for right now. Not too surprised since even CAGED was giving some lag spikes in a couple spots, but I'm surprised a server that can handle L4D2 with swarms of zombies can have hitches and such with Half-Life
In any case, we got the hour in and the mini-campaign finished anyways, so that's good regardless. Twas fun, and will put up the poll later for next week's game.

Poll coming in hot for next week's game
https://strawpoll.com/wby5Qb517yA
Cut BAR and Craftmine since they weren't getting votes. Shame, felt like those were two pretty half-decent non-shooter options. Will get RTS going someday.
Added SRB2 and Microgames. SRB2 we can do with or without the tether mod that requires people to actually kinda stick together. For Microgames, the clients in mind are all free and should run on most hardware, although Doomware is the frontrunner of a pick because it's the lowest footprint of the bunch + more natively runs on my serverbox
>>2302271
Ah sick, nice. I could fit in at least one board around then, yeah.

Thanks again for the host. It honestly blows me away how far N64 netplay has come. Way better than the days of weird PJ64 plugins and weird bespoke emulators that then didn't actually work. Would definitely be down for more MP in the future, and potentially other N64 games like BattleTanx n' shit

Took a while since I was busy the past couple of days, but I did some more testing, and yeah it looks like the Sven Co-op servers just doesn't like much more than what's as vanilla as possible, which means looking for custom maps might take a bit too much testing.
As such, this Wednesday I'll do Power Bomberman in the follow-up game slot, because Power Bomberman is sick and we should play more of it.
>>
>>
Alright, it's Wednesday
First off, poll results. Unreal co-op won, so that'll be the game to play on Friday at 8PM EST. It's free to download these days, so I'll link at that time. I'll link that later, along with a small custom campaign that I've heard good things about and will be a better fit for these 1-2 hour sessions
Second, Power Bomberman is going up. Reminder that the game can be gotten here:
https://www.bombermanboard.com/viewtopic.php?t=1925
Just load through to multiplayer and you should be able to find the lobby. Deets are
Name: /vm/ Game Night
Pass: rage
>>
Had a bit of connection issues, but that was still a good bit of fun. Always love playing a bit of Bomberman.
Stay tuned for links for Unreal later. Shouldn't be much of a download for the custom maps. Thinking of doing Illhaven, which has only about 10. If you need the game, full installers can be found here:
https://github.com/OldUnreal/FullGameInstallers/releases
Unreal_Gold is what suits our purposes for this week
If you already own Unreal and wanna download it through GOG or Steam or what have you, you just need the patch, found here:
https://github.com/OldUnreal/Unreal-testing/releases
>>
>>
>>
Alright, it's Friday, and time for Unreal Gold
IP: 170.9.253.190:10666
As mentioned here >>2311110, you can get the game from these links:
https://github.com/OldUnreal/FullGameInstallers/releases
And if you just need the patch:
https://github.com/OldUnreal/Unreal-testing/releases
Based on my testing, you actually should be able to just join and play. The only file you might need to grab ahead of time is this texture:
https://files.catbox.moe/ygr1ho.zip
Otherwise, you should be able to just download when you join, but if you still want to (or if you end up needing to) download manually, the links of the mods used are here
https://pastebin.com/QbgpNw7u
I personally might end up a bit predisposed and unable to help in the thread if there's any issues, but I should be on the server when it gets to time.
And for Sunday, I'll be running SRB2K again as a Sunday side game
>>
File: 1698081317380.jpg (1.7 MB)
Chat seems to be a bit fucked with the mod (which is weird since it's working on my end, and I'm just connected to the server).
You can still send and receive, but you need to open the console to see the chat log
>>
File: renge_wiggle.webm (189.9 KB)
And that'll be GGs on Illhaven. Turns out that dock was the last part of the map, and we are done. Thanks again to those that joined, hoped you have fun. Mod issues were a bit lame, but the map was pretty cool (especially since it's from pretty early days), and it's always fun playing some Unreal.
I'll get the poll up for next week's game later, and I'll hopefully see you again for more SRB2K on Sunday

Apologies, I lost pretty much my entire Saturday due to catching up on sleep and then immediately got pulled into things, but in case:

Poll for next week's game
As for other games this week: like mentioned previously, will be shooting to do more SRB2K tonight at about 8PM EST (i.e. about 10 hours from now). For Wednesday, I'll look over some other maps I had tagged for Unreal, but since the co-op mod had issues, I might try to find something else as an option. Maybe something silly since it'll be April 1st.
>>
>>
File: Sonic.gif (1.0 MB)
It's about that time. The server is going live with SRB2K
IP: 170.9.253.190:10666
Client and Files:
https://github.com/STJr/Kart-Public/releases/download/v1.6/AssetsLinux Only.zip
https://codeberg.org/NepDisk/srb2k-neptune/releases/tag/Neptune2.5.1
Mods:
https://mega.nz/folder/VKkQVQ7A#I2cFPLxJMMzkWor2M0snVQ
No changes to the mods at this time, so if you played previously, you shouldn't need the link, and if you have played previously, you just need to grab the "Core" folder.
Setup is just slapping the Client + Files together and then putting the folder of addons anywhere inside (it'll recognize any mods inside subfolders)
>>2318388
Hey nice. Also don't sweat it, everyone had issues with the mod. Thing was just buggy, and since custom maps don't have checkpoints, I have another mod that might be able to work better for co-op.
In any case, if you have anything you wanna play, feel free to suggest it to be added to the poll!
>>
>>
>>
>>
File: 1582687881697.jpg (41.9 KB)
And GG. As always, fun times in SRB2K. Hope everyone that joined had fun.
As for Wednesday, it looks like Microgames has pulled ahead. My thinking is this: if it wins, players will need to set up Doom for it anyways, so if stays ahead by the time the poll closes, I'll plan for Wednesday to also be Doom co-op. Not the actual Doom co-op, since that'll stay on the poll, but Doom co-op with some really silly fukken mods because April 1st
And if it doesn't then I'll just slap some maps onto the server for Unreal and see if JCoopZ works better than WolfCoop. As far as I remember it's fine, but I forget if it preserves inventory on death, which might be a hassle
In any case, hope to see youse on Wednesday at 8PM EST for more vidya

Looks neat. I'm tied up for the night, but I'd be down to try this sometime in the future. I've been meaning to try Duckstation Rollback and Arkadyzja for a while now, and that would be a great opportunity to give both a shot.
Then if it works, everyone will be legally obligated to play some Pop'n Tanks
>>
File: file.png (2.2 MB)
>>2319045
>sometime in the future
I'm EST and should be good any weeknight. From prior experience Arkadyzja is really smooth and easy to work with.
I have no idea how Granew-tou plays. It's 4 players so hopefully we can get a full party.
>legally obligated to play some Pop'n Tanks
I am highly down for that.
Lots and lots of 4-player games to explore on PS1.
>>
File: best boy.jpg (212.4 KB)
Alright, it's Wednesday, poll's closed
As expected, Microgames won, so as mentioned here >>2318935 we'll be doing it in DOOM on Friday, as it's the best pick for something that'll be able to be hosted by server AND you guys won't have to download GB-sized games just for silly ol' WarioWare
If you need DOOM or need help installing DOOM + the Zandronum client, I punched up a quick guide here
https://pastebin.com/RDu8Ja0n
If you already are in the know and are set up, just make sure your Zandronum client is updated to the latest Testing version. The guide's also written for Windows, so if you're a Linux guy, you'll either need to grab these files (https://zandronum.com/downloads/testing/3.3/ZandroDev3.3-260112-1855l inux-x86_64.tar.bz2) or compile yourself.
But also, it's Wednesday, and as also mentioned previously: because it's April 1st and people will need DOOM installed anyways, we can do something a little silly in it today.
Something a little shitty.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TTO6z8-00zE
I'll link mod files later tonight, after I pick a map pack. Will have the gameplay mod included too, since I have one that doesn't include the modded enemies, just the guns and "mechanics"
>>
File: 1714742221196263.gif (82.2 KB)
Alright, server's up for DOOM
Here are your mods
https://youfailit.net/pub/idgames/levels/doom2/Ports/v-z/vanguard.zip
https://mega.nz/folder/xLciBJYY#CPKMV0VWt4ea5yJN-eNFzQ
https://allfearthesentinel.com/zandronum/download.php?file=skulltag_co ntent-4.0.pk3
Load them in the order of
>skulltag_content
>chastedoom
>fguns-no-enemies
>Vanguard
Once you've booted Zandronum with the mods, open the console and enter
cl_password penis
connect 170.9.253.190:10666
And you should be on the server and doomin'
Keeping it light with this, since it's a bit short notice. Vanguard's just like, 12 or so maps, and I remember it not being too hard to blast through even without an over the top gameplay mod, so hop in if you wanna a bit of Doom, and if not, well I'll see youse Friday for DoomWare instead lads
>>
>>
>>
File: vanguard.jpg (282.0 KB)
And that's a wrap on Vanguard. Pixelated because the "chastedoom.pk3" is the HDoom enemies with the sex removed, but I'd assume the implication of 3x1 pixels of what may or may not be a Hell Knight's bergina is still too much for a blue board.
But in any case, glad to still get the server tested with the most recent Zan version, and it looks like everything will be good for Friday at 8PM. Look forward to playing more silly Doom then, now in Microgame form

Alright, packing it up for Doom. Looks like the holiday might've had more of an impact on turnout than I expected. Still, it was fun getting what we could in. GG again, hope it was enjoyable.
And with Doom set up, will be adding more options for it in the future, since there's quite a few different multiplayer compatible mods, and you all can bet I definitely got some wads lined up for the Wednesday follow-up
>>
>>
File: 1720663217844827.jpg (232.6 KB)
Damn, got totally ate by the holiday and didn't get around to putting the poll up
https://strawpoll.com/eNg6vBoEWgA
As such, I'll let the poll run another day, just to let any and all votes get in
Easter also ate the Sunday side game, but there will be some DOOM follow-up on Wednesday. I'm thinking a bit more Deathmatch than Doomware, since co-op is still in the poll, and I've got some over-the-top or silly deathmatch mods to try out. I've got QC:DE in mind specifically, but whatever it is, be prepared to frag on hump day.
>>
>>
>>2334269

It's the mod Tomb Fetus, which released late last year

Basically just an arena shooter party game, as the maps are filled with wacky weapons and what not. You can also get the files here in one link:
https://drpyspy.itch.io/tomb-fetus
As all the required .pk3's are in the Files folder. You'd just need to extract them to use with the specific version of the Zandronum client listed here >>2327801 since the client included with Tomb Fetus is an older one by now

Damn, I actually forgot:
https://allfearthesentinel.com/zandronum/download.php?file=tombfetus.w ad
You need this too
Load it not as an External File, but as an IWAD, like DOOM2.WAD
Then, make sure that you have your files loaded in the order of
>characters
>code
>maps
>music
>sounds
>textures
>UI
>visuals
You know, alphabetically
If you don't, you'll likely get a Protected Lump Error
But in any case
==============
Tomb Fetus is up and running
As before, once you load in, open the console and insert these commands:
cl_password penis
connect 170.9.253.190:10666
And you'll be in and fragging
>>
>>2337587
Alright, already petering out at the halfway point, so with consideration to the turnout from Friday, I feel confident in calling it here for now. Truly, the fetus was tombed. Definitely a fun little game, and surprisingly smooth netcode too. Like I swear Zan is usually a bit touchier than this.
Any-weighs, poll ends in about 15 hours. Current frontrunner is Worms Armageddon, but there's still time to cast your votes. See youse then.
>>
File: wormy worms.png (286.5 KB)
Alrighty, poll is closed. Looks like the Worms have done it.
If you need it, grab the game here:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/18dAXkqtQNjb_T5E5MSqXqZk0xzQdPdjY/
I also recommend grabbing SuperFrontendHD, as to enable higher resolutions in the menu. If you don't, the in-game resolution will be alright, but the menus will be at good ol' 480p
https://worms2d.info/SuperFrontendHD
To enable, just extract into your game directory, go to Options, Advanced, and enable "Load WormKit modules"
Now, just a forewarning, I've had something come up that might hamper my ability to host tomorrow. To be safe, I'm planning on more towards 9PM EST, but we'll be playing a bit by ear. If I get shit finished beforehand, I'll post in the thread, and if not, I might be running on Sunday instead. Apologies for any inconvenience.
>>
OP here:
Yeah, absolutely fucked on time. Don't think I'll make it tonight.
Will be shooting to host Sunday at 8PM EST
If anyone wants to host for themselves tonight, you can do so by just loading this WormKit
https://worms2d.info/WormNAT2
and then making a game in the #AnythingGoes channel. It's really simple.
Otherwise, apologies for getting tied up.

Time for Donkey Kong 64 netplay @ 00:00 GMT+1 about 2 hours from now
The big rom site is down now or something and i'm not touching torrents and this is one of the only roms i have.

RMG as the emulator https://github.com/Rosalie241/RMG/releases
The usa rom of donkey kong 64 if you can find it...

Here is der pollen for next week's game:
https://strawpoll.com/XOgOV09G4n3
As far as Friday goes, I shouldn't have any issues this week, so 8PM EST will be what's aimed for again. Wednesday I might be a bit tied up for a follow-up game, so instead I might try to put a lobby up for something somewhere else around that timeslot but on a different day. Will announce ahead of time for what it is, but otherwise it'll just be a more adhoc thing.
>>

Alright, it's Wednesday.
As mentioned in the previous post, I'll be too tied up to host something tonight, but the poll results are still in for today. There's a multi-way tie, so to make a decision, it'll be the reTHAWed mod for Tony Hawk this weekend.
Setup is pretty simple. First, you need the Tony Hawk's American Wasteland game files. I suggest going to MyAbandonware and nabbing the Full-Rip zip file there, and it'll have all the assets and such that you need. After that, grab the updater here
https://rethawed.com/
And it should walk you through the rest.
I'll hopefully see you all on Friday (and that this site's posting isn't as fugged up by then)

Ah, lol, sorry then

File: RETHAWED.jpg (146.0 KB)
Alrighty, the ReTHAWed Lobby is up!
If you've got everything installed >>2353870 then all you need to do now is launch, head to Online, OpenSpy, pick Core if prompted, and then peruse the lobby list. It should be there with these details:
Name: Game Night
Pass: rage
Dunno how many players we'll get since the poll was pretty divided, but the lobby will be up for the hour. If you have the time, come join and enjoy some skating.
>>2356411
Hey, thanks for the extra bump and the kudos. Hope you make it again sometime.
>>
>>2361230
Alright, that's a teeny bit before, but that's a finish on another Goal Attack, so I'll call it there. Always fun getting a bit of skating in, and damn that's a fun way to play too. Like they just need to add a quicker menu for checking the goal list and it'd be a way better way to play online. At least, it addresses the people who hate the 300mil combo kids that spin for days.
Anyways, that's a wrap. Poll will be up later, and I hope everyone has a good weekend.
>>
Yo, it's late on Sunday, but here's the poll for this week:
https://strawpoll.com/e7ZJa0qWLg3
Really digging around to try to find more F2P options to add that are low install size, low account requirement, without just flooding the poll with arena shooters each week, lol. Might start adding more paid options, at least ones that are popular here on the boards and would be easy to host.
Anyways, as far as the rest goes: Wednesday will be a follow-up game night for reTHAWed. Will run the lobby at around 8PM EST as usual. Hope to see you all then.

Here's the poll for this week
https://strawpoll.com/1MnwkGB6Kn7
Just to clarify a couple
>Serious Sam
Fusion was suggested, but I think the best bet will be to go with either Classic or Evolution, since those I can compile specifically for the server, and I also can more easily share the game files for anyone here that might wanna join in but doesn't already own the game.
>TF2 Grabbag
Current stuff in mind is some small-scale PvP stuff like MGE/Ultiduo/Ultitrio and 2FT, some co-op stuff like the Red Ridge map, and some party stuff like TF2ware and Dodgeball. If I can be fucked, I can even try getting Risk Fortress 2 working on it.
As for Wednesday, I'm also thinking of maybe doing the runner-ups and such, just to clean up the poll a bit, since a lot are ending with widely spread, low ties, but I dunno: at the same time, I don't wanna knock a game out when it might win the next week. Will kick it around more over the next few days. Either way, there'll be video games.

this time we'll be using RMG-K which is a fork of RMG with kailerra, meaning if something goes wrong or we switch games it'll be easier to stay in touch because we can just chat and plan in the server lobby without having to remake the room like in normal RMG.
get RMG-K here https://github.com/Jay-Day/RMG-K/releases
and donkey kong 64 usa rom
we need 3 players minimum i think. if that doesnt work out we can switch games easier then in normal RMG.
we can also switch servers to suit either americans or europeans ping wise, we'll use a server that has no players.
if dk64 doesn't work we can try BattleTanx as requested by an anon.

Alright, it's Wednesday. Poll is complete, and the game for this week is gonna be Serious Sam: The First Encounter.
If you don't have the game already, you can get it from this link:
https://mega.nz/folder/QXIk1bjB#NHRWGIfjcc77PyGgRlga4Q/folder/8GoCxA6L
There is the question of what source port to go with. That's something I'll test soon, just to make sure whether there's network compatible or not. That being said, there's currently (at least as far as I know) not much out there other than the updated source and then Serious Sam Evolution, but regardless: they'll be easy to install on your guys' end once I test em out.
Speaking of testing/setup, gonna rant as a side tangent here: you can never hate Discord enough. I was doing the testing for MKDD Online because it's right behind in votes, and it was such a pain in the ass. Apparently, the "universal server" in the github wasn't actually universal, and you have to manually fix it on your end to get it to work on Linux. To do this required finding a few different Discords, digging through them for answers, having to cross reference details across all of them, all to come to an answer of "this really should've been fixed in the year and a half since the last version"
All because all the shit has to be hidden away where it's not easily web searchable
>>

Update: Serious Sam is also being a bit of an assload of fuck too.
I've got the updated Classic version of the game on the server. Client can see it, can connect, but can't actually join due to a weird error that doesn't have much mention on the net. I switch to trying to do the 2017 version, but that has issues running because of translation layers n' shit.
So as it stands right now
====
Important Bit Here
====
I'm gonna be tinkering tonight, but Serious Sam tomorrow will likely end up being through Serious Sam Fusion instead, as that was the version first suggested when asked to put it in the poll, and if push comes to shove, there's a decent number of open servers to hop into and hobo for it.
>>
op here. Shit came up and I'm busy, so I'll be missing tonight. Doesn't mean too much since it wasn't my server anyways, so if you still wanna play, check the server browser for UFO Dedicated TFE coop. It was the one i was planning on squatting in
I will also be doing a second session tomorrow Saturday at the same time of 8est because of this, if anyone wants to wait or want to do it again then. Apologies for the inconvenience.

Alright, it's Saturday at 8PM, so it's time for the Sam makeup day.
As mentioned previously, just gonna hop onto one of the dedicated servers available. Namely the one labeled
>UFO Dedicated TFE Coop
Again, apologies I couldn't get the Classic server working. Still extremely weird given that it was all set up correctly, but whatever. Classic in general seems a bit weird so even as someone who's not really familiar with Sam, I can see why Fusion exists.
Anyways, I'll be on the server for at least an hour. I've got some shit on the backburner that might come up, but for now, it's time to Serious some Sam
>>2417946
Honestly might add it to the poll, since it seems to have taken off wildly

Alright, bouncing out for now at the halfway mark. Nicely split in half so that on Wednesday at 8PM EST, we'll be doing the rest of the campaign for the follow-up game. GGs again to the couple that did show up, and apologies again to those that might've been planning for Friday. This was a lot more fun than I expected, so there'll definitely be room for more Sam in the future.
In any case, will get the poll up later on, and hope to see more of you later on this week for more video games.

Added FFW just in case, because why not. Star Garden is technically not released but its demo has gotten updates and has online, so that could be a fun party game. Melee is also in the mix as to try to start having some fighting game options, and it's one of the only ones that's free, small in size, and has support for multiple players.
Other than that, will see you all again on Wednesday for the results + follow-up Sam night.

It's Wednesday, so the Poll is officially closed, and Mario Kart Double Dash has won it for this week.
To set up, you need an NTSC ISO of Mario Kart Double Dash, which you then patch with this xdelta file
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Synj7tvHZXM4pRJlOsmgLaUVE22H4aSO/view ?usp=sharing
I'll also see about just uploading my already patched one later, just to make sure there's no issues (my upload personally speed is real slow, else I'd do it now).
Once you get that done, you just boot up Dolphin, and you click
Config > Gamecube > Devices > SP1 > Broadband Adapter (HLE)
Then, go to Controllers, and in Port 2, set a Keyboard Controller. This will just let you type in the IP like normal when it comes to the connect screen (this is, of course, assuming you're using a gamepad for your primary input)
After that, it should be all good and you should be all set for Friday. Also, if worst comes to worst and shit ends up breaking (I've already tested connecting to the server and racing but not with more people), then the backup game will be SRB2K
In any case, I'll see the kart racists on Friday, but hopefully I see some of you in a few hours for the follow-up to Serious Sam TFE. We'll be doing the back half of the campaign tonight.

Alright, that'll be a wrap on Sam. I'll admit, it does feel like some of those later stages were starting to pad for time, but those stages also have the cannon in them, so I'm willing to accept that. Fun game, glad to have given it a shot.

OP Host here.
Just a heads up that I should've added: while I have a serverbox, it's an arm64 serverbox. I'll save on all the technical jargon, but this basically means that it's a bit of a crapshoot whether things work unless they're actually compiled for arm64, and most things aren't. The only safe bets is usually anything that has an open source version, since I can set those up in a way that works for the server (aside from fucking Sam Classic apparently, idk wtf was up with that). Anything else depends on whether FEX, a program that gets shit to work on arm64, likes it.
So out of this list: Quake can be a go since there's an open source version, L4D2 is a go because FEX likes it, Sam Fusion isn't a go because FEX doesn't like it, and Sven Co-op is in a weird spot since it runs but it seems to lag hard when players and enemies are clustered. The rest I'd have to test, aside from anything that's on Windows like EYE or Risky 2. Those are just kinda lost causes for me.
I'll also see later about punching up a list of games that I've been able to get to work so far on the serverbox, but point being that some of these, there'd either have to be hosted locally (which my net can be ass at), hope for another host, or in some cases I'm just fine with hopping into an empty server (like what was done with Sam)

It's about that time. The Mario Kart: Double Dash server is live.
Just an addendum: if you need the ISO, you can grab it here
https://archive.org/download/mario-kart-double-dash-usa-iso
And if you still need to patch it, you can do so here
https://kotcrab.github.io/xdelta-wasm/
Otherwise, any setup info you need is here >>2432802
Just a heads up, if you join and it's just on Cup Select, then that should mean that the server is currently in lobby mode, and whoever is in control is picking the shit. If you join and it says race in progress, then just wait it out and you'll be able to join
You can also chat by hitting the Enter key
With all that being said
IP is 170.009.253.190 with the default port of 10014
I'll be on for at least the hour, and the server will be up for most of the night, so feel free to jump in and do some racing lads

It's a 3v3 fighter that's heavily inspired by MvC3
Got a lobby up for v0.0.21
Code is: SSH9
Will have it up for just a bit, since this is a cold call to play

Weekend's about up, so here's the Poll for Friday: https://strawpoll.com/poy9kLNlDgJ
Changes are
-Slippi, S4 League, and FFW bumped for now due to sub-3 votes
-Quake added as per suggestion, although listed for co-op. If you wanna do QuakeWorld deathmatch or whatever, I'm set up for that too
-TF2 Grabbag has been replaced with MvM for now, because as true to issues mentioned here >>2436748 the latest version of FEX just suddenly isn't liking TF2 anymore (which piss me off since it was working previously for MGE/Ultiduo and I was just about to load the files to test Risk Fortress 2), so if it wins, we can instead play the current event Potato.tf is hosting. They do offer private/unlisted sessions, so it can be just us
Additionally, I wanna mention now that I've got summer plans that will have me fully away from my computer for a while. After May 22nd, I'll be on hiatus for a little bit, so it'll be up to you guys to play amongst yourselves while I'm gone, although /vm/ is still pretty slow so I imagine the thread will be here when I get back. Who knows, maybe I can also put up a server for something like Terraria or Minecraft in the meantime. Will probably put that to a poll this weekend
In any case: video games

Wednesday's here, and the poll for the week has closed, with Quake being the winner
Setup is relatively simple. First off, you need the base Quake files. If you don't have them, grab em here:
https://mega.nz/folder/QXIk1bjB#NHRWGIfjcc77PyGgRlga4Q/folder/AD5iGYBR
The files you need are
>Quake_pak_v101.zip
>Quake_ST_v101.zip
and once you get extracted
1) Create a folder that you want to have your Quake install in
2) Move the "id1" folder into your Quake folder
3) Move the "music" folder into your "id1" folder
Now, you just need a sourceport. Personally, I recommend vkQuake
https://github.com/Novum/vkQuake/releases
but Quakespasm-Spiked is fine too, if Vulkan doesn't work for you
https://triptohell.info/moodles/qss/
Once you have either of these downloaded, just put it in your Quake folder (copy it over so that the executable is at the top level) and you'll be good to go
Anyways, meet back here on Friday for Quake. Will probably pick a simple 1-2 episode length map pack to play through, and the night will be open to Deathmatch too if people want to play that. Unless anything else comes up, I hope to see you all then at 8PM EST
>>2458059
shoulda inducted your friends into /vm/ and had them vote with you

The Quake is now Live (but not Quake Live, that's for Deathmatch, and is more like Q3A)
Our map pack of choice for tonight will be the Solid Colors Jam. It's a 14-map collection, and the design gimmick is that all the textures are simple solid colors. There's even model changes for enemies and guns so everything fits more
First, download it here:
https://www.slipseer.com/index.php?resources/solid-colors-jam.582/
Second, extract it and move the "scj" folder to your Quake folder. Your folder should look like
>id1
>scj
>vkquake.exe (and assorted library files)
Third, launch the game, open the console, and type
>game scj
And that should be it. You'll be good to go. After that just use this command:
connect 170.9.253.190:10666
As usual, I'll be on for at least the hour, and the server will be up for the night. If you've never played a Map Jam before, the maps are just done in whatever order and are self-contained, so feel free to hop on whenever.

>the Quake engine can produce mind boggling effects
But yeah, that'll be it for me for now, but like I said: server will be up for a while if anyone wants to make use of it. Otherwise, gg. There was some pretty interesting maps in that jam.
Poll will go up sometime this weekend. I'll do another test a bit with Sven to see if I can make it work, due to a couple anons asking about it, and if it does I'll slap it back into the poll again, but in any case: video games.

It's Sunday, but as far as the poll and upcoming games, I've unfortunately had a change in plans.
As mentioned here >>2449576 I'll be gone for a couple weeks and be unable to host. Unfortunately, it looks like I'll actually be leaving on Friday the 22nd now, so I won't be able to run anything for this weekend. Instead, as far as a game for just this week, I'll be doing some SRB2K on Wednesday at 8PM EST. Install and files can be found here >>2318827
However, there's still a Poll, as like I also said before, I'll leave up a sandbox game server while I'm gone. Only real two options are Minecraft, and Terraria, but I've got some added options for if anyone wants to do some modpacks or what have you. Options aren't too crazy, as when I'm gone, I wouldn't really have much access to the VPS to handle any issues and troubleshooting, only to remotely shut it down if it gets borked
https://strawpoll.com/61gD9JkPaZw
Poll will run until the night before I leave. Server will also of course be piratefag friendly, especially since nowadays, I think most people just use the Prism trick anyways when it comes to Minecraft.
In any case, see any of you interested racers on Wednesday for that last bit of Karting

How about testing out some Smash Remix, since RMG-K means the advent of rollback
Get your emulator here (v0.9.5)

Get your ROM off Vimm's or something
Then patch it here

And closed. That'll be it for the main game of the week.
Make sure to still check back in tomorrow for the results of the hiatus sandbox game poll. Looks like Better Than Adventure is in the lead right now, but is closely followed by Craftmine, Vault Hunters, and bum ass Terraria, so any last votes can still make a difference
>>
File: 1750193025068766.webm (106.5 KB)
And that's a close on the Minecraft poll
Better Than Adventure has won it. I guess I should've written up summaries for them at the time, but for those that don't know: it's Minecraft taking a what-if turn-away from the Adventure Update of beta 1.8 and forking at the beta 1.7.3 version of the game.
There are still new additions for mobs, biomes, blocks, redstone, and so on, but done with the general goal of further tapping into the original spirit of the game as much as possible. There's also some minor tweaks to encourage less cheesing as well, like coordinates being hidden without a compass.
To setup, I suggest using Prism Launcher for Minecraft
https://prismlauncher.org/download/windows/
If you do not have a Minecraft account, you'll have to look into editing the accounts.json file for yourself
Once that's done, you can just important BTA from here
https://www.betterthanadventure.net/downloads/
I recommend doing the Manual Install and just importing the Prism Instance
Regardless of how you do get it installed, once you have everything set up, just join the server:
170.9.253.190:10999
In any case, that'll be it for me for now. For at least the next 2 weeks, I'll be away from my desktop. With the hardware I'll have on the go, I'll still do my best to hop onto the Minecraft server from time to time, and if anything goes shonky with it, I can do my best to try to get it up and running again, but otherwise, I'm outtie.
Hope to see the thread still alive when I get back, but if not, then ggs again and thanks for playing.
