It is theorized that they scrapped the original storyline when they changed writers during Mirage, and the story began to retcon/contradict itself during later Eclipse and Aurora.
See the older prolog where both Angela and Uzziah were alive
Kaito and Tachilanda don't match with how they were described in Eclipse.
The mermaids simply disappeared from the storyline.
They rushing to remove Miranda from the plot.

Plot elements being introduced and dropped in the same scene (the leopard's eye, and the seven stars song)
Both Chiyuki and Juan Yun gave slightly contradictory versions of the origin of the Eastern Alliance.
You can notice that the poison of the insect tribe came from their insects, not from their blood.
In both the world map and the opening screen, you can see the undumbara growing on the fossilized dragon wing, but in the main story the body part never appeared.
In Clark's story, Diana knows about the political landscape of the mechanical territory, which is impossible by Aurora lore.

I''d say its worth a try as the story presentation is one of the best.
You can clear it without rolling the gacha at all. (ive tested using only the freebie characters raised)
The gacha itself is ok with some hits and misses.
While there is no hard pity there is a rotating spark menu that you can save up special currency for grab limited characters you'd like (doesn't include the current banners rate ups unfortunately).
What makes the system nice is that you don't need dupes to raise a character to max power. Given enough time you can build a pretty decent collection. I myself being a longtime player have manged to get a complete roster which is almost unheard of in these sorts of games.
So in short I'd say yes for the story alone and if you stay long term you'll be doing mostly dailies and weeklies and growing your roster as the game is currently in maintenance mode with an uncertain future.
For some reason it hasn't shut down but content is a very slow trickle.
