hiyaa, anon who still tries to find good kiki perfumes here.. i came to the conclusion there are two body sprays from bath and body works that are definitely kiki scents. you might be able to find it in stores now, since it's still kind of in season, it's called winter candy apple. kiki and candy apples are a given hehe... it's a layered winter cinnamon maple apple scent, so more cozy vibes. i've smelled it myself and it does remind me of him. another scent that reminds me of him is country apple. though i haven't smelled it myself, kiki is from the country side, and apple themes coincide again. if anyone is interested in more blueberry/berry scents for him, i have more ideas in mind!

The thing is Pokémon doesn’t really focus on human characters in the first place. The only actively shilled human characters are the anime protagonists, anyone from KANTOOOOOOOOO, the champions, N, Lillie, and Iono. N and Lillie have the tier story arcs build around them in the game and Iono is pandering to v-tuber fans (Canari will likely be just a shilled as Iono for this reason but it’s too early to tell).
And of course Kieran undoubtedly fits the narrative built around him thing and logically should get more attention but that rises the issue of Game freak. I'm not entirely convinced regarding this I keep flip-flopping on whether Kiki was intended to be popular or not - he could have been as he's obviously extremely appealing and he's comparable to N and Lillie, having the narrative centered around him, but the lack of shilling implies otherwise, but the most likely scenario in my opinion is that he was not intended to be particularly popular *or* unpopular. He was just the result of the writers for the DLC using their possibly new-found creative freedom to create a bullshit-free rival story that focused on building an actually decent character one could grow fond of, and Kiki's design did the rest. There's no stupid "plz like this character!!!1" shit, there's just a decently-written story and a character that feels human, and the reaction to Kiki, whether it's loving him or hating him, reflects that.

Other franchises do all sorts of fun stuff with their characters. Spin-off manga, audio dramas, music CDs... but like you said GF is hard-headed, the higher-ups probably don't believe that shit would have potential, and even if they did, they'd likely still give the shill picks more space than anyone else. The only piece of Pokémon media that focuses on the human characters is Masters and it indeed mostly falls back on the usual suspects like the ones you mentioned in your earlier post. Gosh it got really boring after a while, but at least the wait for Kiki to get in the game was worth it...

Does this happen with Penny and Nemona for example? The anime seems to mostly just treat them as COTD... same for Lacey and Drayton, they weren't mischaracterised but they were just around for a couple training arc episodes.

You know, I was fully ready to give a fuck (I started watching the Riko anime as soon as it came out up until episode 18 or so, before I knew game characters were gonna have cameos and before TM even came out), but my issue is the way they try to do different things at once, inevitably fucking up. You wanna have OCs, sure, just make a decent story and I'm all for it. You wanna have game characters, sure, but why not actually adapt the games if so? Shit or get off the pot. Also, going back to the Riko anime for the BB episodes made it evident how much she got side-lined when she's supposed to be the protagonist, I get she's kinda "generic" but they were trying to do something different with a female protag in the beginning, and seeing that going to waste is a bit disheartening. It's Yuugiou Arc-V all over again, it's eerie how similar it is. It even had the Flanderised cameos, haha.

I don't think its hard to make an adorably depressing Kieran. He's ripe for the picking, with a tragic backstory and the rogueish looks of a pint-sized warrior, all wrapped up in a childrens' game. The Brothers Grimm did write a book or three on haunting fairy tales, after all, and Ring Around the Roses is about the Plague.
