I don't think he's scared of rollercoasters, he's probably be on top of that lighthouse enough times that heights don't bother him. Plus with that comment about the feeling of jumping down into the crater, I think he might enjoy coasters. I'd take him to some generic general Pokemon themed park, one with all the typical games and faire foods. He got to experience a small festival in Kitakami in the DLC, so I think he'd enjoy something on a bigger scale. The food would be fun to try with him! Even though he likes to focus on healthier food, I think he'd like to try out new dishes. We'd share some crazy fried thing and get a couple hot dogs with lots of toppings. He'll just also make sure that we walk around enough to burn off the energy lol.

A nature walk/forest theme would be right up his alley, but I think going to a typical style theme park would be more novel since he hikes all the time already. Plus I want an excuse to make him wear some cute goofy headbands or something hehe

Volkner’s definitely a guy who enjoys the rush of a thrill ride. Some of the more unique rides probably get him thinking up new ideas for his gym. I’ll be riding right next to him even though I get dizzy/motion sickness on occasion at those kinda parks. Maybe between big roller coasters we can take a break to eat some sweet junk food or check out water rides. I think he’d also enjoy a water park partially because we can enjoy the view of each other in our swim suits ;P, I could see us floating down the lazy river, sharing a double inner tube, and clinking the glasses of our tropical frozen alcoholic drinks.

Initially I had these thoughts about naveen but like the other anon says, I find I want to beat the shit out of Urbain more. I get that Naveens simping can be sickening at points but he does redeem himself overall. He is kinda cute and I could see him being pushed about by his woman.

Urbain on the other hand. Man needs some discipline. He gets off way too lightly in the game. He’s so fixated on becoming the hero that he actively steps on his allies to get there and abandons them for other people.

I wouldn't call Kabu a husbando of mine or anything but I think he is intensely attractive in a particular sort of way. He has a quiet intensity to him and a determined work ethic, I think putting him as the third gym leader is a mismatch for his character and his bio. I think they had a good character concept but the least awkward place to slot him into gen 8's gym leaders was gym #3 so they just put the square peg in the round hole. His attitude of continual improvement throughout life alongside his age implies he would be an intensely strong trainer at this point but I've always had a personal canon that gym leaders tailor the strength of their teams to the number of badges in a particular adventurer's journey, so it's never been a big sticking point for me. He may have a stronger team because he had a fierce battle leon and you can't do that with the team he puts you up against ingame for the gym challenge.
There are a lot of things about gen 8 that annoy me but Kabu is one of the better parts imo.

I also think it doesn't make much sense for Kabu to be the third gym leader (since he's supposed to have been strong enough to challenge Leon), but isn't it implied anywhere in the main games that gym leaders have to adjust their strength depending on the order they're challenged in? Or did Masters just make that up?
One other thing that Japanese Kabu fans find attractive about him is that he uses "boku", which at his age gives him a certain charm.

I didn't give too much thought to the theme park type answer then, just made a Hoenn gag answer off the rip. As I think about it, Kabu might not enjoy water parks so much. Maybe a smaller fair or festival thing where we enjoy takoyaki together as it gets dark would be nicer for both of us, but I might just be dragging Kabu to what I want to go to. I'm sure he'll understand.

Both are a bit too rough for my liking, especially the English version so I finally changed my game audio to Japanese. Not bad voices really, but my vision of him is just more gentle and noble-like. I also don't like that his hoihoihoi crying sounds so aggressive, the anime did that better.

His anime voices don't really match what I imagined either, but I've grown to like Okiayu's portrayal of him. My country's dub for him was the most like what I've imagined him to sound like, lol.

Having a Pokémon husbando that comes from the main games is both a curse and a blessing when it comes to voice acting. In the adaptations, his voices might be shit and nothing like what you imagined, but also, there isn't a single "definitive" voice. At least, that's how I see it.

He's for sure not from Kanto. In the Japanese version he has a specific accent in the text which comes across as the same place Johto is set in. So if he's from anywhere he's from Johto. BUT.. in the japanese version it's shown that he's putting on the accent. So he might have heritage from there but he himself has lived his whole life in Kalos. He may also not have heritage from Johto - as Giovanni spoke to him when he was a kid about legends of Johto and Hoenn he might just have a strong interest in that part of the world. Bizarre post. My family are mostly English with the rest being Welsh and Cornish and most of us have black hair and darker skin. This shithole island was invaded by tons of people from all over other European countries, among the non-immigrant population there's a pretty diverse range of colouring and looks. Agreed. I’m a big fan of the idea of being very caring and maternal towards a husbando (especially a pent-up guy like Corbeau). He speaks in a Kansai dialect, so he's probably from one of the Japanese regions (I don't think that alone means he's from Poké-Japan, as Rika speaks in the same dialect IIRC). I've seen people theorize that he comes from Kitakami due to some vague physical similarities with Kieran and Carmine.
