Why isn't there more Ground Flying types?

My favorite idea is Doduo and Dodrio as Ground/Flying types, because they're flightless birds and it makes them no longer weak to Electric or Rock while keeping the Flying typing, also they're incredibly adapt to grounded travel and live in savannah type areas, also they gave it Stomping Tantrum and Drill Run this generation for some reason.

Speed Boost = gets higher every turn, speed still gets halved from paralysis, loses boost upon switching out, Dodrio has baton pass too
Quick Feet = immune to Paralysis speed halving, boost stays even if you switch out, don't have to worry about getting burned

I hate seeing suggestions like this. Pulling from the same pool of ~20 strong competitive abilities is boring as fuck.
Tangled Feet is a fun idea and thematic ability. Instead bring back Berserker Gene and make Tangled Feet raise evasion by 2 stages instead of one.
Early Bird is fine as-is, it's just not great on Dodrio. I'd be fine with switching this one out, just not generic competive ability please. Quick Feet is unironically a good suggestion.
Run Away has needed the improvement of being immune to trapping effects for a while. If Pursuit returns I'd make it immune to that as well, and maybe Taunt too.

Tangled Feet is a fun ability because ever since the confusion nerf, the evasion increase is actually higher than the self-damage chance.
It's still luck based, but the odds are in your favor when it's active.

That there's counterplay, doesn't change the fact that it's fucking annoying. It does not improve the game by its existence, it does not significantly shift the meta, there are not pokemon suffering in shit tiers who would suddenly be unshackled if evasion was suddenly allowed.

What even is a ground type anymore, I thought it was typically a burrowing creature or one that incorporates dirt, sand or mud but now it almost seems like just normal type 2

Groudon is basically THE earth element, Camerupt falls into that too. Ursaluna is covered in peat, which is kind of like mud. Hippowdon is as in ground as anyone and has sand coming out of it, so it's kind of earth element, too.

Ground is a very thematic type. Gliscor is a good example of this actually. It could have been Bug, it could have been Poison, but no; Gliscor is Ground/Flying because it glides and hence is both a terrestrial and an aerial creature, but truly belonging to neither group.
