Cape of Wonders. It uses the worst of the GTI layouts, the worst GTI dungeon theme, high level for the point you can unlock it (fuck the Omastar that spam non stop Hidro Pump that goes trough allies). What makes it the worst is that the devs assigned what feels like every aquatic pokemon's mission to that dungeon, so you end up visiting it non stop.

Solely to contextualise why evolution is locked to post game. Won't complaint though, it's much more convenient than taking the pokemon you want to evolve to a dungeon, and it adds mysticism to the world.

Riolu and Vulpix for sure. They're really bad, guys trust me, pick something else, something original while you're at it.

I'd like to say not really. But chatot has animations where he holds the memo containing who's going to the expedition, so they probably have dexterity when it's convenient.

Cachopo's anger issues are an interesting flaw for him to have. I'm curious what you'll do with them in the future, and with him in general.
I found it a bit odd how quickly he landed on the 'feral' descriptor for the enemies he fought, even before knowing about the nature of the world, but perhaps it could be explained by his rage as well.

Silver Trench, aka the Silver Shithole. Yet another bland water dungeon, 99f of identical tilesets, you need to do multiple deep dives because some recruits are only found as deep as 80 floors in, and there's no food in it at all so bring that Tight Belt.

technically in gates they can just evolve in dungeons
but the real answer is who knows. i like the idea that there're specialised areas to do it though, makes it feel more special

Welcome to the guild! This feels like a pretty straightforward intro, but his gimmick is fun. The part where he gets knocked out in a dungeon but immediately goes back in for revenge was amusing. There’s certainly potential for more stories involving this idea. Team Brave could probably help with his berserker tendencies... They’ve been dealing with the same issues too, conveniently enough. Bill the counselor could be helpful as well. Speaking of characters, I appreciate the cameos. Mustel’s scene in particular was a nice, believable way to teach the protagonist a little about his new species.
I saw quite a few grammatical errors/typos, but I won’t harp on about it, because the story was still perfectly readable. I might suggest using a different format for the character’s thoughts, like italicizing them or putting them in single quotes, and not mixing them into the middle of narration like you do now. It’d be a bit easier to read than the format you use here, and more in line with standard practice for writing thoughts. But you can stick with this style if you want, as long as you keep it consistent.
Regarding his extreme mood swings, I feel like his reaction to the problem was perhaps too muted, and he should have been more bothered by it (same with Lliam, who witnessed an episode firsthand). Also, the progression of his shifting moods possibly could’ve been portrayed a bit better. For example, when he follows Lliam around, you tell us that he’s frustrated, but you don’t really show him gradually becoming angrier. That makes his eventual outburst feel too abrupt, in my opinion.
Regardless, it’s a solid start for the character, and I hope to see more out of you.

It's pretty damn solid. I'll admit this doesn't much align with my personal taste in regards to the world and storytelling, so I can't judge it there, but the writing and art themselves are very high quality. I know a lot of work went into this, but it would be cool if this wasn't merely a one-and-done; it'd be nice to get another view of this universe from a different perspective. Nice story, I enjoyed the two's banter, and the guild can always use more shithead prankster characters like Lint. I do enjoy Amo's monologues too and think they were well-writteneven if they make YIIK music play in my head. Read this as well. The issue Lint brought up was interesting to read about. It's a good use of the species and a human's relation to it. As a Solosis, Amo forms an cool thematic parallel - how he could also be seen as constantly 'wearing' something.
The second to last two paragraphs may have some errors with the italics formatting.I also do have to agree with one of the above anons. Amo's monologues are somewhat YIIK-like. That's not a bad thing.

Hey fellow human PMD enjoyers! I have returned following the completion of a 1-year recalibration cycle, which was necessitated after receiving unexpected input from a rogue post asking for instructions on confections.

I haven't played Sky in years and started a new playthrough. This is what I've come up with for the partner and leader:
Astra (Shinx and partner)

Suspending a computer will do that I think...

It makes changes to the gameplay to make it more accessible and less annoying, but some of these changes are questionable to say the least, like removing the regular attack while increasing Elixir spawn rates like crazy, or the Rare Quality system that leads to some broken stuff that trivializes resource management.
Then there is the new artstyle that some find okay while others hate. Story-wise it adds absolutely nothing.
I wouldn't recommend starting with the remake since it is quite different from the other games, but if you are afraid that you won't like them due to too much BS, you can start with DX.

Got halfway trough the postgame in Red, got all the legendaries in Blue and DX, recruited every pokemon in Darkness, did all the postgame content in Sky, beated Gates without lingering for too long in the postgame, and 100%'d Super twice (the second time with changed starters)

I just opened Skytemple to check to be certain, this info is buried within the Symbols menu for those curious.
Reviser Seed is Ground type with 10 power. Reviver Seed is listed as 1 power. In practice I find that base power doesn't matter all that much in Sky, but if you must use Natural Gift Phanpy, you're better off swapping that Reviver for a Reviser once you find one. Not like the latter's got any other use, after all.
Interestingly, Plain Seed is listed as a 15 power Normal type attack.

I agree with you but I just wanna feel something, Gates/Super were meh and I've never had interest in replaying them. DX not being a sprite-based game didn't take away my enjoyment of it and at this point I think PMD is the only way I'd be able to tolerate nu-pokemon designs. And no not exclusively ofc, but if a PMD were to be announced at any point going forward it'd be post Wind/Waves and have mons/mechanics that line up with that gen.
I'm actually much more open to Explorers DX, I should've just said that to begin with. After that once we're in the 2030's just let it rest, I don't think anyone would hold interest in a new PMD or god forbid a Gates to Infinity DX at that point.

If it were possible I'd love a pmd with gen 6 mons and megas, but with sprites and a real story. I know it would never happen, but that would be my ideal "next" entry in pmd. I have a soft spot for Gates because I played it so much as a kid, but the flaws of 3d, especially the BARE MINIMUM EFFORT 3d that gates, super, and dx were, just makes it impossible to enjoy to the same level as sky.

Yeah, when the starters are sleeping at the beds, they use the EventSleep animation (followed by the Wake Up animation), this is diferent from the Sleep animation used in dungeons.
Code whise, making the start of day scene load the Even Sleep animation for 1st stage starters and the regular sleep animation for everyone else, while not complex, it'd be comboluted. The easier fix is to copy over the sleep animation into the Even Sleep slot for mons that lack it. This is something that SkyTemple can do automatically if you're importing sprites trough the built in browser.
