01/29/26(Thu)03:09:43 No.12349992 I'm liking Arkanoid, but it's far too simplistic and shallow. Are there any brick breakers with actual depth and mechanics?

There have been many, but I think the Arkanoid, especially the one on the SNES is the best, especially with the mouse. The SNES mouse is surprisingly good and precise. I was impressed and use it exclusively for almost every game that utilizes it.

01/29/26(Thu)03:51:53 No.12350068 Arkanoid II on the IIgs is an amazing feat. Sadly that system was cluttered by lots of edutainment shovelware and half assed garbage but it has some real gems that really use the IIgs and Arkanoid II is one of them. Probably my favorite Arkanoid version of all time, it has all kinds of everything you need but nothing you don't.

Zoomer fag. Arkanoid is the high depth one. It's based on a game called Breakout, which is far, far more simple

I wanted to like Firestriker, but since you have to chase the ball around in 2D space, instead of on one dimention like with a block breaker, AND you have to swing your sword for it to connect, it's just much of a pain in the ass and tough to play. You constantly moving around and your hands will get tired and you'll get frustrated.

UAE or real hardware.
The last time I got it to run on an emulator, though, I had to download the lha from aminet and install it on a hard disk image and I think I had to make my own startup sequence to make it run correctly. No one seems to have done an ADF or an easy install package solution for these games.
I have to say I've never been quite satisfied with Amiga emulation, something about the refresh always feels fucky, tearing all over the place and the motion is never as smooth as on a real hardware no matter how fast PC's get. I don't really get why, maybe UAE is just badly coded. It's extra annoying for Poing, for how ridiculously fast the gameplay gets.
