the fighting games people actually played were smash bros, soul caliber 2 and mvc2. before that, mortal kombat and street fighter 2. and thats it.

Soul Calibur 2 (PS2) is way better than (GC)
- Heihachi is more fun to play
- Dualshock 2 is better than GameCubes CLAKCLAKCLAK-controller.

Both dead franchises by the late 90s. Nobody cared about either for a decade until their revivals in the PS3/360 era.

No one ever played Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat in Europe, that's just something that happened in America. In Europe Tekken and Soul Calibur were kings of fighting games. So keep your opinions to yourself.

>No one ever played Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat in Europe
Yes we did

> In Europe Tekken and Soul Calibur were kings of fighting games
lolno, no one here knows what soulcalibur is and tekken was seen as a party masher for low skill players.

Street Fighter is an always will be king

The 00's were called the dark age of fighting games for a reason and people are seething when they deny Street Fighter 4 didn't dig it out of the mud
>>
>>12362660
>The 00's were called the dark age of fighting games
by Capniggers only
>>
>>12362660
sf3 not taking off doesn't mean fighting games were "dead"
there was a massive amount of fighting games before sf4
basically every single serious outside of sf got to shine in that period
>>
>>12363347
And those are the majority of fighting game players

>a niche doujin anime game based on a hentai visual novel
I am not knocking Melty or Tsukihime but come on dude, there's bigger games you could use as proof that people were still playing fighting games
