Real niggas know the true, best Megaman game is Rockman and Forte (SFC).
>Made so poorfags that couldn't afford a PS1/Saturn could join in the fun.
>Encouraged playing both characters to get all disks.
>Great soundtrack.
>A nice challenge.
>A lot of callbacks to the previous games, not just with the CD entries.
It's amazing how good a reimagined, "downgraded" port of Rockman 8 ended up being.
Just don't play the WonderSwan version or the GBA port, though.

Its one of the best playing, but its mediocre in almost everything else. Great to just pick up and play, but everything from stage design to music is all pretty meh. Best of the PS1 X trilogy by a landslide, at least.

But a welcome one. I wouldn't consider it the best, but its certainly a patrician pick.
Best X is probably 1 though, followed by 2 and 3. Boring take but its pretty obvious how long in the tooth the series got vs its design, especially by the time 5 and 6 rolled around. 6 especially had some cool ideas with awful execution, and the only reason people rate 8 is because of how low 7 set the bar.

>it's fun until Final Weapon
They completely half-assed those final levels, and the fight against General as Zero is pretty awful, that fight itself is just one big braindead time waster.
But yeah, aside from the final levels, X4's stages are really fun to play, I just wish they were a little longer, especially Storm Owls stage.

X4 is held back by having one of the weakest endgames of any Mega Man game.
>Spaceport feels more like a tutorial stage than a penultimate stage, and is capped off with a dude you already fought before who hardly shakes up his strategy.
>Final Weapon's actual level sections are super brief and feel like pure filler so the stage wouldn't just be the Double/Iris and General fights.
>and then you've just got the obligatory boss rematches and Sigma left. You had a grand total of 2 proper stages while most Wily Castles and subseries equivalents have what, 3? 4?
