Play it upside down then if it bothers you st00pid

Don't look at me with those sad eyes.

Would have made quak3 arena's bot levels more achievable on non easiest difficulty

Another zoomer who thinks dual analog setups were the standard in 1998

That's the point...

>WOULD DVD PLAYING CAPABILITIES, 1080P, RETROCOMPATIBILITY WITH THE SHITTURN, GTA 3 EXCLUSIVITY, VIRTUA FIGHTER 4, ZELDA BREATH OF THE WILD AND THE WIIMOTE HAVE SAVED THE DREAMCAST?
>>
>>12359749
>RETROCOMPATIBILITY WITH THE SHITTURN
That's stupid. What it really needed was Xbox 360 retrocompatibility
>>
>>12359749
Yup
>>
>>12359749
Unironically, no.
>>
>>12359749
no. but six face buttons would have given it at least an extra year in the market.
>>
>>12359629
It had a pinch-point so you could make the wire come out the top, remember?
>>
>>12359749
DVD playback and cross-platform GTA3 would have been enough desu
>>
>>12360903
>pinch point
A what now?
>>
>>12359158
Never played Dreamcast, but this controller looks so uncomfortable
>>
>>12359749
As long as Sony could pay their way into being the only ones with clout, it doesn't matter what anyone else did at the time. Halo was just contrarianism and astroturfing at the same time
>>
>>12360903

i bet all current dreamcast controllers have to replace the cord because the wires insides get cut for being bent for so long
>>
>>12359158
Most 6th gen games don't even meaningfully need the right analog stick. Seriously, look at the 10 best-sellers that gen:
>GTA SA
>Gran Turismo 3
>GTA VC
>Gran Turismo 4
>GTA 3
>MGS2
>Final Fantasy 10
>Halo 2
>SSBM
>Mario Kart Double Dash
Of these, only San Andreas, MGS2, and Halo 2 actually need the right stick, and even then MGS2 only requires it at the end of the game because the sword can't be used with Square for some reason.
>>
>>12361135
Here's the top 211 best-selling home console games of the 6th gen. I may be missing some games, but it seems only a little over 10% of this generation's games actually needed the right stick. The Dreamcast failed for several reasons, but the controller was not one of them.
>>
>>12361135

>SSBM
>Mario Kart Double Dash

Oh my, Gamecube did better than I thought it had that gen
>>
>>12361307
More like there were 2 games that every GameCube owner had due to a small library, whereas each of the 160 million PS2 owners bought completely different games out of the 4000 available.
>>
>>12361457
>whereas each of the 160 million PS2 owners bought completely different games
dvd sales rightfully dont show up on best selling console games.
>>
>>12361135
>>12361187
What part of GTA SA requires the right stick?
>>
>>12359158
There's definitely some games that would have been vastly improved by a second analog stick. I once played Bangai-O on an emulator wuith a modern controller and remapped the d-pad to the right analog stick and holy shit it was like a whole different game. Cannon Spike also comes to mind, that game really needed a second analog, sadly in that case I couldn't improve it through remappings.
>>
>>12361484
Off the top of my head, you need to manually aim in Nines and AK's, plus the dancing missions need the right stick.
>>
>>12361470
The PS2 was by far and away not the cheapest DVD player lol; every PS2 owner had games to go with it.
>>
>>12361096
Yeah, bending wires is never a good thing and eventually it creates a point of failure. It why you never wanna wrap the wires around controllers either when you store them
>>
>>12361135
This, also none of them need the extra shoulder buttons either.
>>
>>12361734
>none of them need the extra shoulder buttons either
You're kinda right yeah.

The GTA games definitely benefit from a handbrake button, though the PSP versions worked around this by mapping handbrake to a macro (Cross + Square IIRC).

MGS2 would be awkward but playable without the extra shoulder buttons.

FFX's CTB would be clunkier without the extra shoulder buttons but I'm sure there's a better way to scroll through the CTB.

Halo definitely doesn't need those extra buttons; switching grenades and controlling the flashlight could easily be mapped to the dpad.

>>12361187
melee absolutely needs a right stick, list invalidated.
>>
>>12359749
thats a great question, but would sonic xtreme have saved the sega system?
>>
>>12361135
Doesn't Melee use the C-Stick for attacks?
>>
>>12359158
U wish

That shitty D-Pad hurts my thumb, anyone else? As a kid I don't remember it being so uncomfortable
>>
>>12361484
your car hydraulics?
>>
>>12361559
>>12363173
If those are the only things then I feel like it should be color coded orange in that list.
>>
>>12362016
>>12361913
it's a shortcut of left stick + A.
you absolutely do not need the stick, despite what melee fags will make you believe.
>>
>>12362501
anon...
that's a sign of old age...
>>
>>12363190
the game feels significantly better when you use the c-stick, jabroni. sure it's not essential, but saying games don't even need a second stick is retarded when it clearly improved the gamefeel of melee and tons of other games
>>
>>12363291
>it clearly improved the gamefeel of melee
How does it improve the gamefeel to constantly move your thumb AWAY from the main 4 buttons so you can flick a tiny analog stick in order to make a digital input?
>>
>>12363306
>jump with x/y
>flick c-stick up
>game feels good asf
if moving your hands is too hard, that's a skill issue
>>
>>12363312
No one said anything about the jump button. The logic doesn't even apply to the jump button because you don't actually have to move your thumb away from any button to press jump.
>>
>>12359629
This was never ever even once an issue. It's a complete casual-ism from people who have never touched the controller irl.
>>
>>12363345
i mentioned it because jumping with left analog up and doing moves with the same stick is the opposite of good gamefeel, it feels like SHIT
that's why the c-stick is based
>>
>>12363408
>feel
not a game mechanic.
you can perform all actions without using the c-stick. therefore, it's unnecessary.
>>
>>12361135
Was JSRF on Xbox dual analogue or it just needed the one like its lil bro JSR/JGR?
>>
>>12363548
The only thing the right stick does is enabled first-person view if you are standing still.
