Which model of genesis should I get? Usually just emulate on a pi or wii. So I probably dont even need it but would like to get a physical console and a flash cart. A model 1 2 or 3??

That makes sense it probably is the best bet. The store im gonna get it from sells all the different models for the same exact price so I might as well get the 2. Kinda wanted to try the 3 cause its kinda small but yeah the 2 is the best bet

I will just assume by the silence you are the same guy from december. You type the same way and you ask the same things. You talked about buying a genesis while you only had $1000 left and were in financial crisis... even though you have been emulating them perfectly fine you want to buy it... just so you can play it on a crt.
I won't tell you to 'talk to a therapist' because that is just a copout by people who do not understand what goes into finding a good therpaist and/or don't want to be the one to take responsibility, but my ability here is very limited.
If you have no free will, and you constantly buy on impulse, you need to tell your parents you have compulsive buying disorder, and to keep your balance in check. But more importantly, GET OFF THE INTERNET. I already warned you before but i knew this would happen again. All this site is filled with is this buyfag cult. Both nintendrones and segashills that do nothing but reinforce your bad habit.
If your response is 'I'm in a bad place and I need this' I'm in a bad place too. Never once have I done drugs, never once have I drank alcohol, never once have I resorted to prostitution in my entire 25 years. Though I suppose it is easier if you have never done it before. And you're already in a better spot because of that. All you have to do - is do nothing. It's as simple as that.
But I am not going to wait on you. I'm already of the opinion you're not going to listen this again and you can just ruin your life for all I care. This racket is made for idiots like you.

I agree with that anon, they are quite cute.
The only problem with them is how incredibly cheap feeling and lightweight they are. They really should've thrown a lead weight inside of it and charged $60 instead of $50 for it.

Ive read quite a few stories about broke family's getting stuff like this and something like a clearance console was the only games they had as a kid. Not everyone could get the latest styff so a 50 dollar genesis and somethijg like the six pack cart or something could come in handy >>12360387 like this anon said alot games were cheap. I remember genesis and snes being in game stores until at least the early sixth Gen era and even then you might have seen a few in the back. I dont remember them fully disappearing from mainline game stores until close to the 7th Gen they were long gone from Walmart or best buy byt game stop or local stores yeah I remember that shit

The Japanese version of the X'Eye, the Wondermega, had S-Video output built in. It's probably the best-looking stock Genesis system you can get.
As for the American X'Eye, it looks near-identical to early Model 1 composite output (VA2).
Concerning sound output, it's generally considered that the earlier Model 1s fitted with a Yamaha YM2612 sound the best, as >>12360365 said.
These models are: JP VA0, JP VA1, JP/NA VA2, BR/NA VA3, JP/Asia/PAL VA4, JP VA5, VA6 all regions, Asia/NA/PAL VA6.5 and PAL VA6.8. The X'Eye uses the later YM3438.
The primary difference between the two chips is that some games took advantage of particular quirks of each chip, making some later games sound worse on early Genesis systems and vice versa.
The 32X looks great. It uses a much better video encoder chip than any Genesis model and outputs a very clean composite signal, eliminating jailbars and reducing dot crawl significantly.
The 32X also has it's own QSound audio chip that works in tandem with whatever Yamaha sound chip your Genesis happens to have.
I'm not sure if there are audio differences between 32X games running with a Genesis equipped with a YM2612 vs a YM3438.
The Nomad uses the same video encoder as the Genesis 3 and looks better than some Model 2 systems, but worse than the Model 1.
It also utilizes the same audio hardware as the Genesis CDX with the headphone output sounding less distorted than the AV Multiout.

I remember a few of the recently converted games tops from funcoland or eb games still had a couple genesis games and snes games on racks like way in the back for a couple years into 6th Gen before ps1 and n64 took over those same racks. I personally didnt have one at the time just a ps1 and xbox so I wasn't even looking for games my brother still had a snes so sometimes wed get a new snes games tho so I kinda remember it being there for a while

>The 1st model with YM2612 is the best
Contrary to popular belief, the later YM3438 is arguably the better chip (cleaner sound, but some prefer the grittiness of the YM2612). The problem is that a lot of models with the YM3438 have shit audio circuitry, which is how it got it's bad reputation
Some people mod their YM3438 consoles to fix that and the sound is amazing

It's either model 1 or model 2. If you're bothered by the sound or picture by your particular version of the console just install a triple bypass or whatever the new version is called.
And fuck those controllers, get a BIG6 and you'll never need to worry about compromising.

Genesis clones are way more interesting to me than nes clones. This one has a really close look for the console but the controller has a giant penis stick instead of a d-pad.

Actually doesn't look all that bad until you notice that the start button is all the way at the top of the controller
There have actually been some decent Genesis clone consoles in the past few years, decently priced too

Nothing inherently bad about clones, but the problem with Genesis clones is that they almost always have awful sound

I'm not sure if it was still funcoland or if it was a gamestop by that point but they had a bin of nes games for $1 when they were advertising for Halo 2. Got blaster master, marble madness, total recall and a few others.
